I'm happy to have been a 17 year old in h.s. when this legendary group was mesmerizing us all with their great sound, I still listen to their music to this day. ❤
On "Slide" ,.. that drum roll combination that ends with that open backward hihat ,.. with the staccato horn licks hitting above was & is like no other in any music out there. Thank you, Tiny.
WOW! Best interview I've personally seen thus far. Steve Washington was/is Pee Wee from the Ohio Players nephew. Where the hell are the program people from Unsung?!
"for some weird reason they've been silenced and the living members can't speak on their adventure with Slave..they lost two original members this year, they lost Orion "Bimmy" Wilhoite/Tenor & Alto Saxophone player and Danny Webster/Lead and Rhythm Guitar Player. I don't think a reunion will happen either"
Tim ....you are a great singer I love happiest days...thanks for enlightening us about your experience....I took the role of lead singer from 1982-1985 It was an incredible adventure yet......there were a lot of dissapointments for myself as well and I did leave the group also....but we indeed are connected via this incredible group of cats! Great job on this interview Bruh!
I'm glad that Tim Dozier, the original drummer for Slave, got interview for this. It was nice to hear from him. I really appreciate that. The interview was awesome.
Stan " THE MAN " Thanks again for the hard work and effort you put in to expose these talented musicians who probably think no cares about the music they bestowed upon us.Mr .Dozier was a big part of that funky band SLAVE and I hope he realizes that a lot of young guys honed their skills off of his talent in those songs he beat up those drums on.Embrace your success Mr. Dozier because I personally listen to those first three albums you're playing on in my ride everyday just good ole funky ass music keep up the good work and thanks again 👍
, and Jimi Slave is one of those groups that new their instruments. The members of that group fused funk, soul, jazz, rock as no other group I listened to . Their guitar riffs remind me so much of Ernie Isely, and Jimi Hendrix. Mark Adams on bass was masterful! Please, let us make our current generation aware of Slave and other musical groups who play, read and write their own material. Let us impress upon them the business side of entertainment. Slave, The Ohio Players, Mother's Finest, The Isely Brothers and Funkadelic are just a few to begin with.
wow!!!!! tim dozier filled in the gaps to many of my questions about slave. Especially the reason one can't find to many videos of the group these days. great interview by stan.
So was Drac or Danny doing the solos? I always thought it was Drac, because the solos stopped when he left the group...My favorite solo was on “You & Me.”
I miss that funk SLAVE one of the best funk funkiest I still jam to all the ALBUMS shout out to all the original members of the R&B group SLAVE / and rest in peace to Mr. Mark hand solo Adams bass guitar back ground vocals / Mark Drac Hicks lead & rhythm guitar lead & back ground vocals💯

HOW THE FUNK CAPITAL OF THE WORLD IS FIGHTING TO KEEP ITS LEGACY ALIVE IN DAYTON OHIO! Stephen StarrJUN 19 2019. When Dayton’s The Funk Music Hall of Fame & Exhibition Center - aka TheFunkCenter - opened in December 2017, locals delighted in it marrying a proud musical tradition with hope for the revival of a city long down on its luck. Built to celebrate the Ohio city’s reputation as ground zero of the funk world, the center drew volunteers and experts from the Netherlands, Japan and the U.K. and superstar names from Dayton’s 1970s and ’80s funk scene, who pieced together the decades-old instruments, records and memorabilia on display. I hate to say this but, he didn't go in depth enough for me. I guess everyone knows he was fired so that Steve A could get the drum chair but, I would to like to have gotten Tiny's take on how it transpired. I guess he didn't to open old wounds. I wish he would gone deeper into how he ended up in the band. Tiny and Orion must have been the oldest members of the band.
Why he was fired? I never knew this. I know there were different lineups within the groups, but all this time I thought they left due to financial issues or something of that effect.
I'm happy to have been a 17 year old in h.s. when this legendary group was mesmerizing us all with their great sound, I still listen to their music to this day. ❤
Never Get Away.
We need a movie on the band called Slave
I was that little kid who use to watch them practice back home
Snapshot, maybe the most innovative funk 45 ever made.
Slave-The Debut, The Hardness of the World, The Concept, Just A Touch of Love, ShowTime, Stone Jam..........the ultimate Slave collection.
On "Slide" ,.. that drum roll combination that ends with that open backward hihat ,.. with the staccato horn licks hitting above was & is like no other in any music out there. Thank you, Tiny.
Yes. But that bass tho!☺
🥁Amen!🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

Yes where are you?
Kim Register I thought it was just me. Where IS Unsung?🤨
Like, please! Before any more of them pass away. We just lost Danny on September 11.

@@oRuTRa45 "there's only five members left..Orion "Bimmy" Wilhoite passed away this year also"
Another talented and legendary group that was victimized by the wicked producers of the music industry...
I absolutely agree Stacey meadows.
I have always loved the name SLAVE, I always thought it was to honor our ancestors. Still, a brilliant name, we are slaves to our passions.
"You and me" is the one for me personally. This brother kills it on that track.
A later song like Jungle Dance. Should've been in a movie.

Slave is one of the hardest, hardest funk projects ever. Bad management. Not to mention live acts ever. Bad management.
Yep another member I saw doing an interview said the same thing.
Great interview, but I wish the host would have stopped cutting him off.
Drac Is Back.

Also could be that they were slave to great funky music.
