Thank you for this video!!! I fixed my printer, with your instructions. I really like this printer alot. Your instructions were excellent. I would only add patience is key. It didn't seem to work so I bought a new printer and right before setting it up I did a test page. It took the alcohol 24hrs to work through and the first few times I admit i used a dropper. The syringe gave the pressure. I had a syringe you use for baby tylenol its smaller and I could only do I ml of solution but it was effective! Thanks again.
Thanks so much for this. Followed instructions and now my black has gone from light grey to BLACK. There was a lot of gunk down there. For anyone in Australia, I just used Methylated Spirits with breath held. Worked!
You can take your printer apart, I have taken my 3520 apart becuase of built up gunk on the printhead as well as to much ink in the soaking pads and also having my yellow get mixed with black ink. What you need is a torx 10 bit and honestly my dodge car security torx bit kit came in handy because there was one more bit i needed to get deeper into disassembly to get to the pads as well as get the purge line cleaned out and carriage places. i always like to pull the power plug while its in ink carthridge access mode makes slide the printhead easy incase you need it move it side to side. 1st unhook the lever that holds the glass and glass cover at a right angle. step 2 is remove the size 10 torx screws from the orange panel. 3 remove the plastic track rail counter from the right side. 4 remove ink carthridges and then pull out the print head unhook the 3 wire ribbons from the printhead. 5 reassemble and dont forget to put the plastic railing counter back where it belongs otherwise jam error will display. i liked this video helped me uncover why my colors stopped worker after wiping the gunk from the printhead.
Nice video. But if you have a torx head t10 you can unhook the top cover arm, remove the screws holding the orange cover on. Then disconnect the front screen.then simply remove the 2 springs and 3 ribbons and pull the printer head out as well. Little more indepth cleaning.
Hey. Just used your method. I bought this printer second hand and I thought it was completely lost. I have bought 3 blackink cartridges but all to no avail. After doing as u did I saw my printer print out black for the first time
Good advise, thank you. We were looking to buy a new printer and I made the last attempt by following this video with a twist. As I did not have the suggested cleaning kit, I used some a spry with some bleach which melted the clogged ink. Excluding the first print out everything seemed to work. Then, the printer issued 'ink cartridge problem/error' message. I thought the bleach might have altered some of the contacts/sensors. I re-cleaned the header with just humid paper and then dry paper and let it dry. After a couple of resets (e.g. pulling the plug and letting the print off for a few minutes), finally the printer was working as new and I was able to print more than 50 pages that I really needed...As usual, please be careful with products with bleach.
Before trying this you can also try the printers built in "Print Head Cleaner". To access the built in cleaner, from the main menu on the printer display go to Settings->Tools->Clean Printhead. I was able to clean mine, which was looking pretty bad when printing anything, by following the videos steps, except I did not have any alcohol. I just put the paper towel underneath the printhead and slid it back and forth getting any excess ink off the bottom of the printhead, and then ran the printers built in cleaner, and it's printing like new again! Hope this helps.
I will use this method tomorrow without the alcohol because I don’t want to purchase a syringe., so I hope it works too. I am trying to use all my ink before I use my new printer my cousin gave me. If this works I’m selling it after my ink is gone. Thanks.
My ink I got is brand new I went to Turn on printer and it’s telling me g me That ink cartridge is damage or need to be replaced how Do I go about this
Hey! I Unfortunately I encountered the very same problem... I followed your advice and run all the cleaning stuff programs of the printer but nothing seems to work... I did a little research online and it seems that the very specific model has the same problem for many of its owners and specifically with the black ink. Any additional advice before i throew the printer away? thanks!
Is it possible to use ONLY the black cartridge, without the other colored once? The colored once are empty of color. And I only want to use the black cartridge. Is that possible ? :)
Hey thanks so much for this! Probably a stupid question, but if I only wanted to use black ink, do I still need to buy new cartridges for the other colors too? I'm low on RBY (out actually), but I bought a new black cartridge and nothing comes out even on a grayscale print. Gonna try this method tomorrow since I'm low on time today. TY!
@@BestPrinters Thank you for the response! Just got some expired ink and the RBY looks totally fine, but it's still not printing black. Going to try fully cleaning it on my next day off, just been to busy to do much about it. We'll see I suppose.
I have the same type of printer but for a long period of non-use I did not use it and I bought color inks and tried to print with it not printed knowing that it works from the scanner side! Do I smoke alcohol inside the printer's ink site?
I cleaned my printer this way, and now the black *that was the only color working before, is now the only color missing. It seems like the print head is out of black ink, as if the black cartbridge was not filling the print head with black color. The alcool dried up for the whole night, and still, all I can print is grey. Cartbridge is brand new, with all the "air trap" opened up.
With a straw cutted in angle to reach the "air trap" over the cartbridge, and an absorbing linen under the print head to absord the ink, I blew inside the black ink, and poored it out inside the print head. Now I can print black :)

Yes I tried to print after waiting 30 minutes it didn't work properly. I did it after a day and it is running excellent.

I bought a new printhead and put on it. Easy to do once you watch a youtube video and have the little tool kit.
Nice job!

Thanks for this. I've been trying to get into mine this morning and couldn't work out how to detach the lid so I could access the other screws.

Three years ago I would say keep trying but at a certain point this model is no longer worth the time.

All the ink cartridges are required to print from this model.

Thank you so much for this video! I'm going to try it for sure.
Are you able to print if you have only black ink full and others empty?
No, all colors must be full. If any color is missing it will not print.
If the printer displays a print head error, waht can we do?
I ask Allah to protect you.
My printer was printing spotty and I tried this, and now it doesn’t print anything at all. Lol I think I’m trashing it.
Run a printhead cleaning, that will push the color back into the system.
Where do you get all these printers?
Its top secret.
Thanks!
Welcome!
Will the 70% isopropyl will do?
Yes it should be fine.
Thank u for the video nu Friend
I did this and now my black ink doesn't print at all -_-
Run a print head cleaning, that will push the ink back into the print head.
Can you just print with black ink alone?
No
I have error code 0x6100000b which is on hp
3520
can i use water to clean it
I would highly recommend using isoprophyl alcohol (which is very inexpensive) over water.
