Rosemary and Thomas Mulray were born 8 March 1990. Photos of Doug with the newborns are in the Fairfax Media Archives, and licensed to Getty Images. The 60 Minutes Interview with Mulray is noted as topping the previous week's ratings in a news story in the 10 May 1990 issue of The Canberra Times (found in the NLA's Trove archives), placing its Sunday airdate bang on 29 April 1990. Now there's a solid 30 minutes of Googling I'll never get back.
Also, Ian Leslie left the show at the end of 1989. He more than likely would have done this story if he was still on the show then being the most senior reporter.

Doug was a one off. No one could get away with such hilarious carry on today. We have all become far too serious.

Retired as far as I know. There is a fan group on Facebook with the occasional sighting.
