In Oregon, the state legislature has screwed up the speed zone law(s). Now we have 3 different laws in one. 1. 20 mph when children are present. 2. 20 mph between 7am and 5pm during school days. 3. 20 mph when lights are flashing (amber). When do these apply? Whenever the local, or state jurisdiction decides to post it. Some counties post the first, some post the second and some the third. My question after doing hundreds of speed zone investigations and recommendations in Oregon: You will only know when you read the sign. Thats fine if it is big enough to read but many times it is small and cannot be read at your current speed. Traffic standards dictate the size of text a sign should have to be read at speed. Lastly, do these rules apply to private schools or schools which have no children near the roadway? Does it apply to unusual school schedules? How are you to know? This is politics at work. Take a good law and convolute it and make it an abomination. Oregon needs to get it together and pick one.
GOOD!!!!! I’m tired of seeing these violators that don’t know the laws!!, have no idea where they got there licenses because when YOU TAKE THE TEST!!!! It clearly tells you to obey school zones!!! It’s not just young it’s blatantly ADULTS doing it too!!! So HAPPY they’ll get caught!!!! 👏
