I apologize beforehand for the mistake in this video. The HP LaserJet 4300 actually uses the 39A (Q1339A) or 39X (Q1339X) toner cartridges, not the 42A (Q5942A) or 42X (Q5942X). If you found this video helpful, please subscribe so we can reach 1,000 subscribers before 2025!

Can you tell me what operating system you are using because I've heard they don't connect to Windows 10?

I currently use Windows 10, and it works perfectly. We also have customers using Windows 11 without any issues. Since the printers are a bit older, you may need to add them by IP address.
Connecting Your HP 4200 and 4300 series Printer to a Computer via IP Address
If you’re using an older HP printer and need to connect it to a computer via IP address, here’s a simple, step-by-step guide to help you. This process works seamlessly on both Windows 10 and Windows 11.
Step 1: Find the Printer’s IP Address
      1. On the printer’s control panel, press the Menu button.
      2. Navigate to Information and then to Print Configuration.
      3. The printer will print out a configuration page. The IP address will be listed on this page. (The printer will need to be connected to the network so it will read an IP address)
Step 2: Add the Printer to Your Computer
For Windows 10 and Windows 11:
      1. Open Settings by clicking the Start menu and selecting Settings (the gear icon).
      2. Go to Devices, then click on Printers & Scanners.
      3. Click Add a printer or scanner. Windows will start searching for printers.
      4. When you see “The printer that I want isn’t listed” appear, click on it.
      5. Select Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname and click Next.
      6. In the Device type dropdown, select TCP/IP Device.
      7. Enter the printer’s IP address (found in Step 1) in the Hostname or IP address field.
      8. Uncheck the option for Query the printer and automatically select the driver to use (if it’s checked), then click Next.
      9. Windows will attempt to detect the printer. If the correct driver is already installed, the printer will be added automatically. If not, you may need to select the appropriate driver from the list or provide the driver manually.
      10. Follow the remaining prompts to complete the installation.
Step 3: Set the Printer as Default (Optional)
      1. After the printer is added, go back to Printers & Scanners in the Devices settings.
      2. Click on the HP printer, then click Manage.
      3. Click Set as default.
This should make the process of connecting your older HP printer via IP address straightforward for you even if they are using Windows 10 or 11. Please Subscribe so we can reach 1K subscribers before 2025.
