awesome video and great van. Not sure if you know, it is called Westfalia after the company that did the camping van conversion for VW. So what Winnebago is for the Sprinter, Westfalia is for the VW. and between 1999 and 2007, Westfalia (the company) was owned by DaimlerChrysler. So, your Revel and the T2 Westfalia are distant relatives :-)
That is some awesome history and did not know they are distant relatives. We knew Westfalia was the conversion company. Thanks for the insight on the history!
Another cool feature that we don't see anymore is the butterfly windows! On a hot day they are the BEST thing for cooling off. You can direct the breeze right at yourself. I wish they'd make a comeback. ⛺️
Wow I really didn't think there would be so many cool features in this little van, 2 beds! This would be a great little trip back in time if you could manage the manual stick😬 Amazing to see where it all got started, great video!
Hey guys! Ken and Jen here! Love your van! Ken and I have a 1981 VW pop up camper Westfalia van! Burnt orange color! We take it camping at drive in’s and Nascar tracks! Sooo fun! Safe fun good Magical journeys guys! 🧡☮️
Que Chula! Lol, great video. Reminds me of days when my son had a similar era VW Bus...it was a rust bucket but, he built it out as a camper van. Funny as all to drive!
They are so cool. Later in life I think we will look into restoring one of these. That’s awesome. Would love to see a picture of it. Haha people love to see these things on the road.
This was filmed in the Vancouver area where I live and I have a couple of these westfalia vans too, a '72 and a '74. They are an absolute hoot to drive and people absolutely love them.
The VW vans are very classy, and Westfalia does great conversions. Thanks for showing us around! Love road-tripping myself, this would be a great addition. Love your videos, new subscriber! 👋
Beautiful van almost exactly the same as my '78. I like the interior configuration in yours has all the furniture to one side, which gives more open space and allows your passenger seat to swivel. I wish mind did that, but the sink is in the way.)
You mentioned you want to tune to listen to, but you have to make your own lol but did you notice and the camera showed it says got an old radio in there right on the dashboard, the radio has no USB port no tape player no CD no MP3 hook ups just a plain a.m. radio even though FM radio was around in the 70s but those cars packed and had only a.m radio. And there were some with eight tracks to and around that time cassettes for introduces some of those bands have those players to because I rode in the Volkswagen van when we lived in Germany with some friends I had one we bought it from some friends, so me and some other friends, we go on vacation together so that’s why you said you couldn’t get no tunes because of the old radio that’s on the dashboard I give you that heads up just an M radio with no other features because it’s a 70s model vehicle but very nice van. I love how the roof goes up like that that’s awesome if you trade in your the van for that you did a good job.
Nowadays they make little micro-FM-transmitters, so if you want to play something off your phone it will "broadcast" onto an empty FM frequency to play through the car speakers. But I'm not sure if they make them to work with an AM radio. Having the original radio is definitely something unique although it's not very practical. You could swap it out with an aftermarket AM/FM/CD/USB/MP3 unit, but save the original as a piece of history!
Good luck on your new adventures. I will look forward to your future videos. My personal opinion is that the novelty of the VW will wear off and you will miss the Sprinter. Let us know your views.😀 Edit: I thought it was a permanent trade 🤣
10:44 This van doesn't _have_ power steering. PS was invented to help you turn at lower speeds. That's also why steering wheels on older cars used to be larger, to give you more mechanical advantage. 11:42 This VW "has a lot of power"? Must be a really good use of that 75 hp!
it doesn't have power steering and even the new cars turn off power steering when you get over a certain speed because you don't need it anymore. that's why it steered easily when you reached certain speed

I camped in these all through my childhood thanks to my family. I'd LOVE one this clean! Amazing car!

Love these! My family had one when I was a kid in blue. I'd like to own now. The vibe is unlike any other, then and now!
That’s awesome! It’s like a ray of sunshine
I can’t compete with Emmett for being the first. However, we loved the video. A vehicle from our era.
Loved the funky colors and two beds! This video was groovy!

That what I love about this style VW Vans is the hanging wardrobe and the loft bed.
It is a very practical Van! Shows you that you don’t need all the stuff we have today :)

Ahhhh the good ol days...... Great vid kids :-)
The original color was called Chrome Yellow. Had a touch of orange in it. Campers were solid colors only passenger vans had White above the belt line.
Lol she said one of the things I love about this van thru the whole video … should’ve titled it 72 things I love about this van😂😂
Sorry Charlie, I just love this van 😏

As a Brit, I strongly approve of the term "shaggadelic"

Haha yes just for the day! Even after the day we missed our sprinter 😅
Fantastico 🤩

Make a video of her driving it.
if we did that we wouldn't leave the parking lot 😂
There is no power steering on the van.
Why isn't VW still making those? I remember when those vans were new.
We don’t know! We see a ton of people still driving them around. Super cool
They do…they make a camper version of the current vw van (T6) in Europe.
Let’s goo
Look, punch buggy yellow!! Oh, wait....
I think I will keep my Revel. But good luck...
Just for the day! Haha we are definitely keeping our revel.
Both Vans are German. My dad drove a VW bug for years.
Great builds!
Will Tina be getting hemp tattoos and wearing flowers in her hair now that she has met her distant hippy cousin?
Hahaha I think I over heard them talking about their horoscopes. Something about being an Aquarius.
I am first one again
