so....not included Earth-based nuclear craters?
Sus!
that person dancing on a crater is dope
For a moment there it made me think it was the crater from Thor
Didn't watch the video yet but i totally agree
Edit: i watched the video and now i agree more
130th like
Haha chcichcichcichcichcichchc
Where??
Can we just appreciate how much effort he puts in making these cool videos?
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around
And desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
I had always assumed the Chixulub; the dinosaur killer. Was the biggest Earth ever had. Good video. Also frightening. Haha
There were possibly bigger ones before that, also crater size depends on both size and speed of impacting object. Chicxulub was on the lower end of extinction level events.
nothing really beat theia crashing on earth 4 billions years ago until the sun eat earth 😊
Earth got hit by a planet 4,5 billion years ago and absorbed parts of it. You can still find the remains in the deeper parts of earth's mantle and even the core of our moon is made of it. Must have been a hell of an impact
Dinosaur extintion crater is called "Mexican Gulf"
@@patosentado9665 so you are telling me that the gulf of mexico is chicxulub.
Fun fact for reference: Chicxulub crater at 2:15 is the impact that killed the dinosaurs.
That was the moment, halfway through, that had me going: O_O "What's bigger than Chicxulub?"
1st impact(adams arrival),or the first black marker arriving on earth, you choose.
@@SupersuMC There were other extinction level events before that (although it’s not clear which ones were caused by impacts). Some bigger craters may be from a time way before that, maybe even before the first single cell organisms.
Viva México XD
yea i know
Amazing video. Your production levels are increasing! This was so polished!
I remember asking my mom when we're gonna go and see this big crater while we were in Vredefort and she said that we were in it. I was so surprised
Wow
But the dome exists
Lol I used to live in the sudbury crater in Canada
Imagine if a crater was actually created in a big city like that, that would be surreal. Devastating, but surreal.
Something tells me you would have a problem with rain fall
Diamond Head on Oahu is a big volcanic crater near a city.
@@jennycraigadventures3314 Well, from looking at it, that just proves how cool it looks.
Awesome
A crater of that size would mean more than just the city being lost.
Mars: Smaller than Earth, but still has the longest canyon, the tallest mountain, and the biggest crater.
You forget to mention the Largest Volcano too...
@@silverbullet1979 That's the tallest mountain.
And most expensive rovers 😆
@@nocosa did you see the price of the latest Range Rover
The mars rovers are relatively cheap
@@reentrysfs6317 no shit
Perspective is the greatest key to understanding something. And this video lends quite the perspective into how insignificant humans are on a grand scale
True
Eurt
Your ASS in insignificant. Stop with the holier-than-thou false modesty. It's cringe.
watch some universe size comparison videos, you will face an existential crisis
@@user-rp8dt9pj1m it should be obvious by now ... we insignificant compared to solar system itself let alone galaxy or universe
Someone: can you make people stare at circles for 5 minutes?
MBS:obviously
You are the best MBS
if the impactor hits the surface at an angle, it leave an oblong crater rather than a circle. Just, that would require an asteroid of dwarf planet size for it to survive the extra time in atmosphere.
The rest of the world: how many craters u have
Australia: *yes*
Probably a result of so much of Australia not having serious geologic disruptions in a long time--it's generally regarded as the "oldest" continent. Easier to preserve craters when there's not a ton of widespread volcanic activity or tectonic plates crunching together or ripping apart
@@rsnowden0524 nerd
@@patricksarama4963 bruh
@@patricksarama4963 I see that as a compliment.
Top quality as usual. I'm getting flashbacks to that time the dinosaurs all died.
*flashbacks?*
Flashbacks?
Damn, you're old
@@endangsaptorini563 I have three times the lifespan of a duck.
Flashbacks there it is
I love the amount of detail in this video
WOW the U.K. has really taken a hammering ;-))
Yep guess the uk ticked someone in space off
As it should. BREXIT MEANS BREXIT.
These are some of the craters that humans know about, what exists that we DON'T know about is truly frightening.
He forgot some like shoemaker levy (Jupiter) which is large as earth
@@RETRO-GHOST but that's no Crater since it would never reach Jupiter surface as Jupiter is a gas giant
@@sumreensultana1860 Yeah I know, though it was visible for a while, also matter what you call Jupiter's surface.
Anyway objects that have the ability to do larger then 4000 KM are more likely to shatter the surface of terrestrial planets, thus not leaving a crater
@@RETRO-GHOST Dude are you drunk? Jupiter is a gas giant lmao its has no surface
@@Abrold Lmao the surface is the outer part we see, something doesn't have to be solid to be a surface, also the farther you go down the more compact the surface is, to a point where it would crush almost anything, but good luck even getting to that part. Tell me if I threw you at Jupiter what would happen? Exactly the same thing that happen to Shoemaker-Levy 9 there would be a impact mark.
Another incredible video! I have to admit...once the bigger craters showed up, I had chills. Especially once the Chicxulub showed up...and was quickly overshadowed. And to think, Earth has most likely had much larger craters...but due to weathering and plate tectonics, they have disappeared. Many thanks and congratulations on the excellent work you put into producing these great videos!
The largest crater still exists despite being formed a few billion years ago.

@@aralornwolf3140 Thank you for this link...it was quite interesting! Too bad it is Monday... I will have to wait until this weekend to binge watch some of the other links.
I loved that Utopia Planitia from Mars was shown because it's referred to several times in Star Trek.
0:26 damn asteroid toppling the metaball sign 😭
It is scary how many times we got smacked by planet destroyers We here now but tomorrow may not and we can do nothing about it
we can predict asteroids years before they hit, but there is nothing we can do about it
@@snekkoheckko4466 there are some though. NASA proposed that launching a satellite and crash to the asteroid might set it of course.
@@Don_Lemino Hitting an asteroid that big with a satellite is like trying to stop a train by shooting a single bullet to it...
Nukes :)))
@@desolation1322 nuking asteroids will break them and there is a big chance they will rain down the earth and now they are nuclear asteroids chunks. They might burn in the atmosphere though.

“When the Earth starts to settle, god throws a stone at it”.
Don’t that’s you’re beliefs. God throws? Stones are influenced by gravity! These meteors have their own orbit so they haven’t been “thrown” but their orbits just crossed over and they collide

Terrifying how small we are, and how easily we can evaporate from this planet.

Nothing just in micro seconds

Oh! Thanks for including Estonia! But we have a bigger crater called Kaali. It's 110 meters in diameter and much better visible. =)
Still interesting to see a lesser known Ilumetsa (The beauty of the forest) crater. =)
"Kaali" means cabbage in finnish xD
@@thebel89 Yes, Estonia was hit by a giant space cabbage about 170 million years ago. You may also have heard of the irregularly shaped broccoli crater in Latvia.
0:09 he's dancing wkwkwkwkwk

Dancing to the music bbyy
Great video! Another intriguing crater, if anyone is interested, is the Rheasilvia crater on the asteroid Vesta. It's 505 km across, but the really cool thing about it is that its central peak is the tallest mountain in the Solar System-22.5 km tall, even slightly taller than Olympus Mons.
Oh?
Mountains Size Comparison Would Be Great☺👍
God, what an incredible video. The song makes it even better.
Pure perfection.
I like how we went from home sized craters to continent sized craters
That music was top notch.
Thanks man!
nice music :)

Shout out to Middlesboro, Kentucky, a town contained entirely within a 6km/3.7 mile crater
3:49 freeze frame, upper right center of the Martian crater: is that Jezero Crater?
This dude's videos are all amazing! 2:20 my fav one.
Good video, as usual. If you update it, consider adding the roughly estimated time (perhaps in BCE) when each Earth-bound event happened, or offer a graph or table so viewers can see if there was some pattern and what might the odds be for being hit by something large in the near future. Even more, perhaps add the estimated size of the object when it made impact. Even more scary!

Anime Characters : This is gonna be good....
Lol
A cool companion piece to this video would be one showing the size, mass, and speed of objects that have hit earth, many of which would be associated with these craters.
Each probably around 10x smaller in diameter than the crater
I'd love to see the size of US states compared to European countries!
That would be awesome indeed! :)
@3:03 When your crater is so big even your crater has craters.
Not as big as the crater I left in my toilet this morning

Very interesting and worthwhile video. My favorite craters are the Schlesinger Craters on the dark side of the moon.
Always like your videos 😎😅
I never knew Australia had taken such a beating, Great video as always! :D
Imagine how many more craters Earth would have without our moon. God put it there by design folks.

That little guy dancing near the first crater tho.
I didn't know we (Sweden) had a crater! 😲
Great video! Love the music.
Buen trabajo, veo tus videos desde hace años, saludos desde Colombia 😊
You forgot the „Steinheimer Becken“. It’s located in Germany with a diameter of about 3,9km. I actually lived in it. Steinheim am Albuch is located in the crater.
Even better, in 2017 a small part of the impactor was found. That makes the impact very well confirmed.
Great video !
I love the little plane saying Subscribe!
My mind when i saw 3:28 name and location:
"You can't just shoot a hole into a surface of mars!"

Further inquiries, search for "Earth Impact Database".
It gives a list of all confirmed craters and impact structures on Earth.
The difference between the two is that "structures" tend to be older, more eroded and geologically altered since their formation, leaving little to no obvious signs of a surface crater.
The EID also lists the criteria that need to be satisfied in order to confirm a potential impact structure as an actual historical event.
Complimenti al cameraman che ha circonavigato tutta la terra dallo spazio per farci vedere tutti i crateri.

When I visited the Barringer Crater last year I learned that for the longest time craters were being miss identified as extinct volcanos way back in the day.

A big creator is dwarfed by a bigger creator, which is dwarfed by an even bigger creator and so on.
I love this video so much
You remembered the Aitken Basin!!! :')
...And I didn't know it had been surpassed in size until now. Aitken Basin is colossal, yet it was so big, old and so obscure, that the only way it was found was recently via a map of iron concentration in the Moon's regolith! The Basin is over 4 billion years old, and the oldest major impact on the Moon!
