So the big question now is... what should I use? A normal patch, helical, biquad, double biquad, or this triple patch antenna? I'm totally confused now.
damn.. I forgot to terminate the other terminal lol.. weirdly I've never had too much issue with signal break up unless it tucked behind a tree or something. Can I ask, if I didn't want to use the coaxial cable, would this affect the signal if I was to use just coaxial adapters? Very new to the hobby, but having a blast so far
I heard that Far Vew is bringing these out pretty soon! I'm excited to try them out for myself and see how they compare to the 5 turn helical that I am using now. Thanks Bruce!
Tested a triple feed patch array today with it positioned 5 inch off the ground with my quad flying out 2km away on 120m high, I still get good video quality. There are houses and trees 50m in front of the antenna.
Once again the light comes from open source projects and ideas :) Maybe one day we will have open source FPV Goggles and stop feeding all these shark companies which are already made themselves fat enough over our heads...
ABMNS PRODUCTION The most annoying thing is that eachine has managed to make fatshark style goggles for $99, I love my fatsharks and like them a lot more than box goggles but they are very overpriced for what they are.
Its sick when the guy has produced a really innovative bit of kit - gives it for free via cc - only asks for attribution - then they don't. The situation is not reasonable.
rcmodelreviews hiya Bruce how do these face up to the pagoda antenna and do you know were I can purchase a large package of these antennas in kit's to build yourself your self with the jig to build the antenna Bruce or can you give me a link to find the pagoda kit's if possible o's possibley these ones your reviewing in this video please and thanks again for your helpful help tips and good advice as always Bruce
can you connect both sides to a diversity receiver at the same time and have LH and RH without diversity? would be handy for ride alongs when you don't know what direction the signal is.
Yes, anything close to the copper tracks or the circular patch itself will affect the RF behavior. I don't really understand why you would want to coat these though, they are pretty solid as-is. The weakest point is probably the connector.
hi, i watched some videos you talking about antenna, but only in the clear line of sign . Can you give me some advise for me when i fly in complex environment like in abandon building where i always lost my video feed in there or the quality just too bad
Hello Bruce, do you think it would be useful to unsolder the sma connectors on a half overlord receiver and directly solder rg402 cable between 14dpi antennae and receivers? I bought a new half overlord and want to conect the patches with rg402 to adjust the angle between the antennas because I think at higher ranges the main lobe of the patches wont overlap at the standard setting of 3 pathces for 210° and I want to reduce the angle for higer range. While an additional rg402 cable inserts 4 connectors between rx and antenna.
Funny we still have to deal with SD fpv and still no affordable HD fpv on the market except a couple of Chinese modules or expensive light bridge OE connex
I bought one and it didn’t come with the terminating cap. Was yours included with the antenna? Also does the transmitting antenna have to match with LHCP/RHCP?
Thanks for another great product review! Have you tried Aomways version of the same triple feed patch on your goggles? What patch antenna do you fly with? Thanks again!
Hi Bruce, just received my first FPV rig from Hking, the Quannum , diversty rx and elite x50 tx diy v2 goggles. was thinking that this TFP on the rx would be a good choice to match with the Pagoda 2, any issues with that comb ? BTW thanks for all the great content, been following and taking inspiration from you for a couple years and have learned heaps, will continue to check out everything you publish, cheers Jim B
Hi There, Great video as always. Still I have an unclear question about the SMA termination part, There several options available vary by frequency (2.5 ghz, 6 ghz, 12 ghz ) and Watts. Can you please advice on the correct "terminator" frequency ? Thanks
I want to fly FPV but haven't because of my eye sight for close up is terrible. I first started with Fat Shark goggles and can't get the images in focus. So, I bought a Quantum with the screen and tried to modify them to be able to wear my glasses. That really doesn't work either. Will I ever be able to fly FPV with my poor closeup vision issues?
Do you wear convex or concave glasses -- are you long or short-sighted? What a couple of guys have done in our club is get some cheap plastic reading glasses, take out the lenses, cut them to shape and hot-glue them into their video goggles to provide extra magnification. That' works a treat and is a super-cheap modification.
I just got new glasses and my right eye is 3x worse than my left for closeup vision. I'll just get 2 different sets of reading glasses, one set for each eye and try your suggestion out. Thanks! there my be hope yet for just turning 70.
I had a similar issue until i found this company that produces lenses for fatshark, and Headplay (box style googles) i recommend it to you as it solved my issues : rho-lens.com/rho-lens-fpl-v2/ tell us if it work out for you.
Did I miss it or is there no part two to this video as he says he's going to do. Sorry Bruce, used to love your channel but you simply don't ever do the follow-up videos that you always say will be coming soon... It's really unfortunate cause at one time you had the best informational mini quad channel on RUclips..
Bruce: you're pronouncing "Maarten" pretty well for an English speaker. The trick is to not diphthongize the 'aa' sound and hold it flat in pitch. "ae" in "Baert" is pronounced exactly the same way, it's just historical spelling common in names.
I guess they assembled it wrong or something like that. Like Honeybee did with their Honeydrop antennas... They only have a fraction of the performance that I am getting from my Menace-RC, FarVew or self produced Pagodas.
Hello Bruce and thank you again for another excellent video. I have a question, I am using dipole antenna on my Quad, so how do I know if its RHCP or LHCP antenna or is this not relevant for Diapole antenna ?
I love the fact that it's open source like my operating system; Linux! I don't really care for directional antennas though as I have a hard enough time just flying without worrying which way my head is pointed..hehehe. Thanks for the video and Happy Flying!
Rcmodelreviews ripping some freestyle bats @ 7:00lol, love the channel, mate, always informative with loads of products.I was hooked since the goggle3 review had me in stitches.
I have this antenna on my goggles and I must say it's crap for me. Recently I 3d printed 5 turn helical with wave trap and I made it to 3km without any issue.
Hi, Need some advice if possible, Can i set up air mode in the INAV config. Been trying with no luck & i cannot reflash the omnibus f4 back to betaflight ?
True rc came out with something that had a similar principle but not like this. Wonder which technology will take off. Amazing engineering, math, and other smarts, really cool to see.
pretty sure you'll find its spelt trippple with 3 p's not 2. thought that was funny after you picked up the grammar mistake in the grammar advertisement :)
Another gem for the Chinese to steal....badly probably. We need to see this new directional triple receiver antenna out at around 4kms to see if it really works Bruce....not 600 metres...? Get a Monitor so you can aim it better, and let's see what it can really do..?
Can both antennas be connected as a center of signal mass? My hubsan zino pro has 2 5.8ghz connections on the controller in which I do not know if its RH or LH.
So the big question now is... what should I use? A normal patch, helical, biquad, double biquad, or this triple patch antenna?
I'm totally confused now.
I think you're gonna wanna get a double helical biquad triple patch antenna
@@mattsupertramp6506 lol took this comment serious...

i dont understand what is left and right hand antenna? how do i know what and how i should mount it??
Tested a triple feed patch array today with it positioned 5 inch off the ground with my quad flying out 2km away on 120m high, I still get good video quality. There are houses and trees 50m in front of the antenna.
Did you ever get to do the full test Bruce?
Hi, thanks for the review. What fpv camera and settings do you use, the colours are excellent!

?
Tobermory Cat You are perfectly right on that point too, when they don't respect the licence, we should blame them too!
Its sick when the guy has produced a really innovative bit of kit - gives it for free via cc - only asks for attribution - then they don't. The situation is not reasonable.
The reception on the Googles was near-perfect! However, when you got to the goggles, some interference was evident...
Thanks for the review!
Can you send me a link for the cap that's needed for this antenna
Well. I was feeling guilty I didn't know how to pronounce his name. I have a different model but curious about the designer.
So how does this compare with a) CP antennas b) patch antennas c) biquad antennas d) helical antennas
Can you do a video about whats a good controller / Radios & Receivers for beginners ?
Any chance this will be main stream soon... I hope so. Who by the way sent that if you don't mind sharing

Yes you can :). You still need a diversity receiver though, so it's not really 'without diversity'.
Great bit of kit, works great. Many thanks.
Yes, anything close to the copper tracks or the circular patch itself will affect the RF behavior. I don't really understand why you would want to coat these though, they are pretty solid as-is. The weakest point is probably the connector.
Feared that the discs would get shifted - glue would hold it. So far mine have stood up well so as you wrote, it may not be needed. Many thanks.
Are there any disadvantadges to using a high gain antenna vs a low gain
put simply, high gain usually equals a more directional antenna
+RCModelReviews - why's it called a triple feed when it only has two (RP)SMA connectors?
There are three wires going to the active element.
hi, i watched some videos you talking about antenna, but only in the clear line of sign . Can you give me some advise for me when i fly in complex environment like in abandon building where i always lost my video feed in there or the quality just too bad
Did you put that cap thing on the antenna? That might be the cause of the multipathing issues...
So I was thinking...in areas with a lot of reflections...would it be beneficial to use two omnidirectional CP antenas - one LH and the other RH ?
How would you make a dummy load ? is it a simple resistor across ground and feed ?
What happen when you dont put the end cap terminator ... range .. quality video .?
Hello Bruce,

Full Test?

Can you fly zig zag for a change of flying up the horse race?
Sir, your feed is a sight. What camera/vtx are you using?
so how does it work with aomway cloverleafs? or simple whip antennas?
I have flown over 4km on a 3 turn helical so I think a better test could have been implemented.
What happens without terminator?
Hi, I was wondering if you can you mix it together with immersionrc patch antenna on the furious true d receiver? Thanks for the video.

Difference between left hand and right hand
How to know which antenna I need if is Lhcp or Rhcp?

No idea but mine is terminated with a fifty ohm termination.
would you recommend this antenna over an equally priced helical?

Whats is the limite range this antenna?
Is this mounted only on the goggles or on the quad also? :) Great review as always ;)
Since the Triple Feed Antenna is directional it would typically only be mounted on the goggles/ground station.
What camera are you using please? Thanks.
Runcam Swift

I guess they assembled it wrong or something like that. Like Honeybee did with their Honeydrop antennas... They only have a fraction of the performance that I am getting from my Menace-RC, FarVew or self produced Pagodas.
I could have sworn it was Fixed Wing Friday today...
Does your fpv goggles have to be diversity? My fvp goggles have two antennas but it's not diverse. I was thinking about trying a patch antenna.
and this is how FPV pushes antennas forward! things move again after decades of stagnation.
Hello Bruce and thank you again for another excellent video. I have a question, I am using dipole antenna on my Quad, so how do I know if its RHCP or LHCP antenna or is this not relevant for Diapole antenna ?

What is the vtx range you get on this with the 25mw setting ?
Now this antenna design is genius!!!
The open source guys aren't afraid to send their stuff to Bruce.
And try with patchantenna on quad too.www.heli-star.com/5-8-ghz-9-4dbi-triple-feed-patch-antenna-sma-male.html

I just ordered mine
