Yeh definitely takes abit of practice. It's so rewarding for that though once you get into a race. I have a steering wheel for the PS1 now which I used for this video. Has transformed the whole game. It's probably even better on PC with a wheel 🏁
TOCA and Jarrett & LaBonte Stock Car Racing were two of the best racing games on PSX...still match up to current generation games as far as gameplay is concerned.
Yeh definitely! TOCA 2 especially, it had way more cars, tracks and game modes, plus better handling/physics. TOCA 1 is perhaps a little too scripted where 1 tin touch seems turn the AI car's brakes off completely hah. Love it though! 🏁
I played TOCA 2 a lot around 1998-2000, but it was virtually impossible for me on the hardest difficulty. I could put the car on pole, but someone always spun me from behind no matter what I did. It was quite infuriating to be honest. So I had to settle for playing on medium difficulty.
Yeh is the worst thing about TOCA 2 sadly, lap 1 first corner. The game is always abit framey with all the cars close together and the computer cars just seem to be on rails abit and plough through. If you can get through turn 1 the racing after that is incredible 🏁
@@racinggamechallenge Brand's Hatch Indy circuit is good little circuit and Croft Circuit good as well around the back of the cricuit tight and twisty slow speed corners and the slowest corner of the British Trouing cars Champship last corner shape and tight very slow speed hair pin coming on start finish line
@@racinggamechallenge Exactly haha! Kudos to the game developers for making it realistic like that. It's one of the reasons why I loved TOCA 2 as well. It was a lot more balanced out around Rydell being the most strongest in his Volvo whilst other top contenders would occasionally surpass him in some races. & then of course, you'd get the Peugeots & the Mondeos finishing near the back all the time 😂
Loved this game. I remember hating it at first as the twitchy car handling drove me crazy, but then I just got better at it.

2 of my favs! The final section of Croft is epic, to drive in game and in real life watching BTCC 🏁
TOCA 1 = Make Alain Menu finish second. If you do that, you win the game.
Hah, sure is! ... Much like the real 97 season. Couldn't catch him on this one, though started from the back, so will blame it on that 😎
