The PRX 35mm Quartz is the go to. Affordable, looks good, around $300 New. Even with a big wrist I would go with the 35mm version. If you want to spend $700 on a watch, I would buy the Seiko Presage Sharp Edge or even save until you can buy a CW The Twelve. My humble opinion.
I like that take. There’s zero quality difference in the bracelet and case between the quartz PRX and the automatic, so if you really want the PRX, the best value is probably the quartz. The reason the get the auto is if you absolutely want the auto and/or the textured dial.
Yes, I don't necessarily disagree. I went for the Powermatic 80 because I like automatic movements, and I prefer the colours on the powermatic variants. But the quartz version is a solid watch for most people 👍
The PRX has really grown on me the more I’ve seen it, but this CW 12 has really caught my eye as an alternative to the PRX/Genta 70s integrated style but with a higher finishing - something I’ve always thought the PRX lacked for its massive hype. The big question: is the CW really worth double the price of the PRX 80?
One thing that wasn't mentioned in regards to the movement, is Tissot Powermatic Movement cannot be serviced as they used Plastic Parts in it. When you send the Tissot for Service the Movement is replaced with a refurbished Movement and the one inside removed to be Refurbished. The Christopher Ward SW movement can be easily serviced anywhere that service Selita Movements
If price were no object, I'm betting most would choose the CW. Understandably taste and preferences are subjective, however compared side by side in the metal, it is very easy to spot that the quality of the CW is a step or two above the PRX. Let me say it like this, I've owned the Zenith Defy Classic, a watch that was over 5k, and very similar in appearance to the 12. The 12 that I own is right there with tye Defy in fit and finishing quality. If not neck and neck, it's close. When I looked at a PRX, its a good watch for under 1k, and a fine purchase. I was debating getting one. But at the end of the day, it is what it is. Decided quckly on the 12 when I saw it in person. To me, it was worth the additional $600.00.
I totally agree with you. And this might sound like a bit of an exaggeration, but the CW seemed pretty close to the quality of a 25k Czapek Antartique. So I definitely think they've done a great job with the watch.
Summed up very well. CW is better, just not 2x better. So buyers will have a relatively easy choice based on their budget. Thanks. Good categories & explanations
Superb analysis and I really enjoyed the presentation style. I have a PRX and certainly am happy with it considering the price, the CW is almost double the cost but I wonder if it is worth it when all factors are considered?
Seems to me the CW is just trying too hard, stuffing too many elements on the watch that don't end up meshing. The faceted face. The overly textured dial with the overly deep markers. The inner ring... It just ends up lacking sophistication, even if all those elements are executed well. The face has better proportions and the bracelet is much more cohesive, but as a whole it's an attack on the senses (and I LOVE the purple dial). Perhaps it works for those who want a bit more show? On the whole, I'd take the Citizen Tsuyosa - cleaner and better balanced than the PRX...
I somewhat agree with you. The prx is definitely much cleaner than the CW. That said, I've owned and reviewed the Citizen Tsuyosa. It's a good watch, but I would pay a little more and take the PRX for sure.
Great video! As much love as the PRX gets, I wasn’t a fan of it in person. I tried on the Green dial and it just didn’t pop, maybe I need to see the glacier one? As for the the 12, it’s a beautiful watch but the $1500 space is becoming crowded. Rather go with a Monta, if I’m behind honest. And also, for just another thousand you can get a black bay. For that reason, it’s a hard to justify the CW12
A lot of these brands really oversell and overpromise with either renders or bracketed, multiple exposure photography. It's a problem because the expectations aren't met in reality.
I have the green dial. I personally love how they do the dials as even though it has colors, it's more reserved so it could go with any outfit in any color easy but still looks elegant. And thus... The darker hue dials like the black, blue and green won't be popping as much as the ice blue or the white/rose gold pvd). When I was in the boutique I was having a hard time getting either the white dial pvd or the green one. In the end I chose the green version as eventhough I liked bi-color watches, I'd rather have it in real rose gold rather than pvd even if the price went up due to that, as pvd per usual would get patinated and you can't touch it up otherwise it'll scrape all the coating off.
Monta makes wonderful watches, I have a Skyquest and love it. However, they are more expensive than the CW 12, which I also have. The 12 is $1225 plus tax, while the cheapest Monta, the Triump starts at 1700 plus tax... pretty much the same difference between a PRX and the 12. Lastly, one will be hard pressed to find a Tudor BB for only 1k more than a CW. Most BBs, even pre-owned are over 3k minimum.
are there local ADs available where you live so that you can send your CW for service? just wondering in case as there isnt a branch here in Singapore.
Still a tough choice. A comparison like that as you mentioned, the CW12 edges PRX but not significantly. But with double the pricing, it doesn’t seem justified to pay the difference for minimal advantages. Perhaps a choice could only be made when one have both pieces on wrist as it will boil down to a subjective decision.
I've had both in hand, the CW is miles ahead of the PRX in finish and quality, the PRX is the best integrated bracelet under 1k, but the CW is worth the extra money if you want to step up a level or two.
I want my watch to look nice when wearing it and my watch having a smoother sweep makes it look nicer, that power reserve is just going to sit in my watch box ticking away on its own, I have never had a need for such a big power reserve so I'd rather have a big improvement on the aesthetic of the watch, so a smoother sweep is far better imo.
Personally, I don’t like the dial the CW and the crown guards throw the balance off. Overall, if you want a good looking beater, Tissot for the win (better value IMO). I got mine with a discount so even better.
Although you discussed and finish of the bracelets, you neglected to touch on the build quality. The push pin links on the PRX just make it a much cheaper bracelet in comparison to the one on the CW. Sizing the CW was a breeze and I feel it's a more secure bracelet. I ultimately picked up the Ti with Nebula Purple dial. Thanks for the review.
I didn't have to change links on either bracelet, so I didn't get the chance to cover that aspect. But perhaps I should've experienced and mentioned it in the video. Thanks for your feedback 👍🏼
But now with tissot launched the 35mm powermatic version , this makes me lean towards tissot as I have same wrist size as you and find these integrated braclet design watch tend to wear too big if their dual is 40mm
I feel like I've watched almost every PRX vs. The Twelve video on YT now - this one is easily the best. I know opinions are subjective, but I really struggle to come to terms how the PRX is even comparable when side by side to the CW... other than similar looks, the CW looks SO much more premium looking, the build quality is so much better too. I love that the CW is not something you'll see on everyone's wrist which is how its going with the PRX.
Thanks so much for the kind words. I tried to be as thorough as possible. And definitely do think that the CW is a better watch. It's built to the standard of watches costing several thousand more
@@TheWatchOut couldn’t agree more on the build quality aspect of the CW - I’m lucky enough to have watches from Tudor and Rolex and the CW really isn’t that far away from the Rolex in terms of feel/quality, which is saying something!
Are you me? LOL. I have a Honda Insight as well and have the ice blue PRX coming Wednesday and the glacier blue coming late June to the US. All three great choices! I’m excited for the watches. (BTW, got all the before the video lol)
I'd not realised until seeing this vid just how quickly the Twelves bracelet tapers down compared to the PRX, as a larger wrist person that's a shame as the extra chunk.
Great video, you are doing an excellent job. New subscriber from Laguna Beach, CA 👍 PS: I’m curious about your accent. I have heard a similar accent before, but I can’t place it. I’m guessing Indian? I like watches and languages. I have studied 6 languages. Another great hobby. 👍
@@TheWatchOut It didn’t at first, that’s why I had a hard time placing it. I like accents. It makes me sad when people try to eliminate them. Accents are like flavors on food. Why would you want to eliminate flavor???
In my opinion, Tissot wins the wearability because it also comes in 35 mm, with the quartz movement is slimmer and has more color variants. So it's a tie
On price alone, Tissot wins all day for what is offering. CW has had a lot of time to put a watch at that price, while you are corrrect that it offers more at a totally different price, it is a good offering from CW.
Does anyone own the 12 with the Selita Sw200 or another watch with the same movement? I have misgivings about the 38 hour power reserve but if it charges as well as my Couturier with the Powermatic 80 ETA, I will probably wear it enough to where the power reserve won't be an issue. BTW, I am considering both the stainless steel and titanium CW 12.
The PRX movement is not better than the Twelve. The movement is made of plastic in the PRX and is unrepairable. You can regulate the movement of the twelve for more accuracy but its not possible on PRX movement. Of course the Twelve is 2 times more worth than the PRX!!!!
Surprise surprise, the watch costing twice as much wins 😂😂 I would like to see CW make the same quality watch that Tissot made at sub £700 price point. Maybe compare the twelve to a Tudor Ranger with is twice the price.
Imo* Both r too big for your wrist and for mine from your video, which is why im selling my prx. The CW looks nice, but imo the logo kills the dial. No one, including myself, didn't know this to be the cw logo, and we all know the most important thing about a watch is the name... just how it is so we can all show off, lol. I like the prx and may try the 35mm, but that just sounds scary small, lol. It's a def pass on the cw. It's just off imo*. Cheers!
I’ve got the PRX and 6.75 inch and it still feels too big for me . I have a Maen Manhattan and it’s a perfect integrated bracelet watch for me, but I’ve got the twelve on order too, I have plans to keep only one. We’ll see the reality soon😂
@@MrAhuraMazda I'm pretty sure the speedy has 50hrs but ok. Anyways, not as much of a deal-breaker for me anymore but still would go for the PRX as a 38hr power reserve will be much more inconvenient.
@@s.m.pravin9738 again, stop making these Goofy comparisons, a royal oak is a very different watch to a PRX, it's a work of art and something I may never afford, the PRX is not comparable to the royal oak in any sense.
The Powermatic 80 movement is not serviceable and it also lacks the ability tweak / adjust the movement if it runs too much out of spec. With the Sellita SW200-1, you can do both.
It's serviceable. And it's very easy to tweak compared to common 2824 or sellita sw200. And more shock resistant too as it uses free sprung hairspring.
@@watchnerds its not easy to tweak, it takes specialist equipment to regulate a powermatic movement because it uses a free sprung balance. The sellita movement can be tweaked with a screwdriver.
@@davids.2317 I'm a WOSTEP, OWME and Omega Certified watchmaker. I can tell you that it is very simple to tweak the rate than the common regulator pins. Gyromax by Patek and AP indeed would need a tool to tweak the rate, for PM80 it only need screwdriver to do so, just rotate the eccentric screw in the balance arm with the round part away or towards the center to slow or fasten the rate, and it didn't risk of changing the beat error too, unlike the standards of regulating pins which usually sandwhiced with stud holder, when a watch too tight during adjustment it could change the beat error, when it's too loose a slight shock could affect the accuracy as the regulator also moved.
@@TheWatchOut having had both in hand I would say the CW is better value. The tissot feels like a £600 watch, the CW feels like a 3k watch, but costs less than half of that..just because the PRX is cheaper it doesn't make it better value.
CW is a better watch, think that’s kinda clear. In the real world, the cost of the CW is getting close to 3 times as expensive. The CW is gonna set you back $1400. The prx you can find for under $500 with a few minutes of digging. The CW is “better” but it’s not three times as good.
The PRX just looks better. Better proportions. The dial on the CW looks too big, but it seems to be due to the shorter overall case, or the case looks shorter. The big indices look awful as well. The dial pattern is just too much. It looks like it's trying to outdo the PRX but is failing by trying too hard. Definitely not worth the extra money. I know you said its thinner, but it looks really thick. It almost looks as thick as the PRX Chronograph. Objectively, even when you have them both on, the PRX is just sitting better imo, though I know you thought it went the other way. Weird, I'm thinking the PRX is looking and sitting better, while you were spruiking the CW. Oh well, different tastes :)
I agree. The deciding thing for me was the dial. The waffle is a little too pronounced on the CW as well as the induces are also too big. The CW looks cheap from watching the videos. Whereas the PRX looked better on my wrist than in videos. I didn't realize that there were additional fees to bring it into the US. So, yes at $1400, on a video the CW should smoke the PRX, but doesn't seem to do that.

I know that factoid is big on the net, but I have heard the opposite as well. e.g its serviceable because its based on a common ETA movement. Anyway, outside of very expensive watch like a Rolex, I suspect most watch repairers would just replace the selita movement as well.
@@TheWatchOut There's virtually nothing non-trash from any of the bigger brands at that price point. It's a problem. I think I'd go with a microbrand at that price point. Maybe a Creux or Dwiss M3 or something.
I actually like the bigger dial, and personally, I don't think it looks too big on me. But I agree that it would have been better on me if it were a few millimetres smaller
Cw is a nice watch ,but never twice as nice as the Prx. Especially when you factor in the terrible brand name and almost no history against a powerhouse of horology , tissot.
The movement is the heart of a watch. At twice the price it should have a much better movement than the PRX. So, the Twelve is the clear loser here. IMO.

But now with tissot launched the 35mm powermatic version , this makes me lean towards tissot as I have same wrist size as you and find these integrated braclet design watch tend to wear too big if their dual is 40mm
That's right. These 35mm Prx's work great for our wrist size
@@danwillis4229 Agreed 💯
thank you very much for your helpful video..
I'm glad you found it helpful!
The CW reminds me of Formex watches. Look them up, beautiful watch but it all boils down to sollars and cents for what the manufacturers are offering
Are you me? LOL. I have a Honda Insight as well and have the ice blue PRX coming Wednesday and the glacier blue coming late June to the US. All three great choices! I’m excited for the watches. (BTW, got all the before the video lol)
Hahaha, yes we're the same person.
This is an Accord though...close enough!
I’ver had 12 hours with my ice blue PRX now. It scratches the “itch”, so we shall see when the CW12 comes next month. Cheers!
@@dooginator2008tx Enjoy your new watch!
Hope that itch doesn't come too soon
I'd not realised until seeing this vid just how quickly the Twelves bracelet tapers down compared to the PRX, as a larger wrist person that's a shame as the extra chunk.
Which size to get for 6.5" flat wrist? 40mm, 36mm, or 35mm?
36-39mm would be the perfect size imo
Great video, you are doing an excellent job. New subscriber from Laguna Beach, CA 👍
PS: I’m curious about your accent. I have heard a similar accent before, but I can’t place it. I’m guessing Indian?
I like watches and languages. I have studied 6 languages. Another great hobby. 👍
Thanks man! I appreciate it.
Yeah, that's right. Although I've been told by some people that it doesn't sound like a stereotypical Indian accent
@@TheWatchOut It didn’t at first, that’s why I had a hard time placing it. I like accents. It makes me sad when people try to eliminate them.
Accents are like flavors on food.
Why would you want to eliminate flavor???
PRX hands down!
CW 12 is just so much better tbh
True
Ya because you are paying almost the double
No question. I personally don’t think it should be compared to the PRX at all. The only thing that brings these two watches together is price IMO.
In India the 12 is exactly twice as expensive as the prx one.
@@vipinsuriya007 Wow that's really bad
In my opinion, Tissot wins the wearability because it also comes in 35 mm, with the quartz movement is slimmer and has more color variants. So it's a tie
Christopher Ward have brought out a 36mm version of The Twelve now.
On price alone, Tissot wins all day for what is offering. CW has had a lot of time to put a watch at that price, while you are corrrect that it offers more at a totally different price, it is a good offering from CW.
Agreed!
Did you order 15.5cm bracelet size?
Yes I did
@@TheWatchOut perfect, my wrist also 6 inch.
Do you think i should wait for 36mm or get this 40mm?
@@Asdfghjkl-w3j I would say, wait for the 36
@@TheWatchOut thanks alot. Hope your channel grows fast. Keep doing the good work.
@@Asdfghjkl-w3j thanks for the support man
I'd like the cosc movement from the titanium 12 in the stainless version...I'm not a fan on the grade 2 titanium...it's too easy to scratch.
Yeah I wish they used a better movement or atleast gave us a choice in the steel models
@@TheWatchOut they didnthis on a bunch of other models... like a bunch cosc movements but only available in bronze cases.
Unfortunately I don't own any other watch with this movement. However, CW does offer a 5 year movement guarantee so you should be good there.
powermatic80 in the twelve would have made it perfect
the powermatic is made of plastic and is unrepairable
@@fritzneumann1714 there are plastic parts yes, but many have now a days. I'd love a ward 12 with more reserve energy on it is all.
Yup, would have been great if CW had priced the watch at under a thousand dollars.
That would have made it a no brainer
Imo* Both r too big for your wrist and for mine from your video, which is why im selling my prx. The CW looks nice, but imo the logo kills the dial. No one, including myself, didn't know this to be the cw logo, and we all know the most important thing about a watch is the name... just how it is so we can all show off, lol. I like the prx and may try the 35mm, but that just sounds scary small, lol. It's a def pass on the cw. It's just off imo*. Cheers!
A lot of this just comes down to personal take, so your opinion is valid 👍
The 35mm PRX also wears bigger so it might look more like a 37! Good luck!
I’ve got the PRX and 6.75 inch and it still feels too big for me .
I have a Maen Manhattan and it’s a perfect integrated bracelet watch for me, but I’ve got the twelve on order too, I have plans to keep only one. We’ll see the reality soon😂
Haha, nice!
Let us know which one you like the most!
Got them both
Nice!
38hr Power reserve is a deal breaker in my opinion.
That's insane. Is the Speedmaster a "deal breaker" too?
@@MrAhuraMazda I'm pretty sure the speedy has 50hrs but ok. Anyways, not as much of a deal-breaker for me anymore but still would go for the PRX as a 38hr power reserve will be much more inconvenient.
@@howwemakeitepicthings7002so prx over the royal Oak? The royal Oak has only 40 💀
@@s.m.pravin9738 again, stop making these Goofy comparisons, a royal oak is a very different watch to a PRX, it's a work of art and something I may never afford, the PRX is not comparable to the royal oak in any sense.
@@howwemakeitepicthings7002 bruh my comparison isn't as goofy as saying 38 hour power reserve is a deal breaker
@@watchnerds ruclips.net/video/GAzywe09fE4/видео.html
Staying with my prx.
Its a plasctic watch🤣🤣🤣
Spend more and you'll get more but I'm not so sure that it's worth it. The PRX is still the better value proposition
Yeah, I agree
@@TheWatchOut having had both in hand I would say the CW is better value.
The tissot feels like a £600 watch, the CW feels like a 3k watch, but costs less than half of that..just because the PRX is cheaper it doesn't make it better value.
@@davids.2317 That's one way of looking at it. And I agree. But I still believe that the PRX is the better choice for someone on a tighter budget
CW 12 looks much better 👌,
Agreed
Twelve is way better but at double the price.
That's why I'll opt for tissot
Fair enough
nice
Why would you want crown guards on this kind of watch? Defeats the minimalist approach.
Just makes me feel more secure about not damaging the crown
PRX wins on the price, it will be better to compare it with ML aikon
The PRX is way better than the Christofer in movement as well as looks
I think the 36mm PRX would suit you better. Both of these look too big for your wrist.
CW is a better watch, think that’s kinda clear.
In the real world, the cost of the CW is getting close to 3 times as expensive. The CW is gonna set you back $1400. The prx you can find for under $500 with a few
minutes of digging.
Haha, yes. We seem to be have the exact opposite preferences in this case. But it's all subjective, so you're not wrong 👍
I know that factoid is big on the net, but I have heard the opposite as well. e.g its serviceable because its based on a common ETA movement. Anyway, outside of very expensive watch like a Rolex, I suspect most watch repairers would just replace the selita movement as well.
The PRX feels so cheap, like a plastic toy version of a real watch
It's not a sport watch it's a classic watch
Prx 100% and its not even close
the twelve has girly, feminine proportions... and a hideous logo on the clasp, which they don't show you
Looks are personal choices, so I respect your take but don't agree with it.
What's your favourite sub two thousand dollar watch?
@@TheWatchOut There's virtually nothing non-trash from any of the bigger brands at that price point. It's a problem. I think I'd go with a microbrand at that price point. Maybe a Creux or Dwiss M3 or something.
I think you are a little biased. In my eyes, the PRX is the best watch you can get for under 800 $.
Agreed that the Tissot is the best watch you can get under $800 but the CW is the best watch you can get under $1500
Oris from THE gray market is a meter deal than CW
I think Tissot wins on the case. The crown guards on the CW ruin the look
I personally like the crown guards, but I see where you're coming from 👍
No comparison as 12 is almost doubled the price.
CW isn't worth $1200 just as a Rolex OP isn't worth $5500.
We cant buy from their site directly at $1200
The 12 being a 41mm is way too much dial and looks humongous on your wrist.
I actually like the bigger dial, and personally, I don't think it looks too big on me.
But I agree that it would have been better on me if it were a few millimetres smaller
The downside of this watch is the 38hrs power reserve
Yup, that's the worst part of the watch for me
No way you have a 6” wrist.
prx for the win
Cw is a nice watch ,but never twice as nice as the Prx. Especially when you factor in the terrible brand name and almost no history against a powerhouse of horology , tissot.
The movement is the heart of a watch. At twice the price it should have a much better movement than the PRX. So, the Twelve is the clear loser here. IMO.
what "research" 🤣
I think the CW 12 looks feminin 🤷🏻♂️
both overpriced toy watch
If you think of it that way, most mechanical watches are overpriced and unnecessary
The 12 is so ugly to me😂 The indices don’t match and the pattern is headache inducing
