Curious, since you’ve reviewed both this and the Slöer, would you say that they would be mostly redundant or whether they would both be worthwhile checking out?
the dry / wet. and general routing options... freeze swapping between modes was a cool technique. all those knobs in general. the art. can't say i'm left wanting much more. another old blood classic
Love it! I’ve been waiting for a proper demo of this pedal. I typically run mine just one input in, one out (with no routing) into the front of my amp, but you’ve inspired me to try some new things. Thanks!
Fantastic this kind of reverb vibe, unfortunately this kind of machine don't land in Brazil. This give us a lot of ambience option out of the box of shimmers and cloud from Bigsky verb.
So been waiting for Marks demo of this!As a simple plug and play bass Player and as bad as I want this I would be so confused on how to properly operate it givin all it’s options
@@Taylor_King no, but the pedalzone dude gave me a pro tip. Its not the wrong application for this pedal. He said go full wet and use as a texture not a part of the tone. Still havent figured that out so I posted on TGP. not for me. Holler ill sell it for a decent price.
Ooooh yeah i cant wai to hear your take on this pedal. OBNE is so fantastic!!! I LOVE the new Beamsplitter and float so much! My alpha haunt still makes me smile everytime i use it too!!
Mark, thank you for this awesome review / demo. I'm playing a full stereo rig morphing into a 5.1 surround sound guitar system. The DarkLight will conform nicely to my setup. I know this because of your excellent portrayal of the pedal. Would you consider sharing your thoughts on 5.1 surround guitar (with or without software implementation} specifically for ambient space atmospheres? Thank you for your sincerity. May our Lord bless you always.
i just bought this pedal! this is a really cool demo! i love the song played at the start! thats really nice :)
this all sounds pretty complex and i learn best actually trying stuff for myself but im really enjoying the sounds. cant wait to get it in hand!

Honestly, you sold me on one of these! So beautiful and cool!
Still undecided on whether to buy this or the Walrus Audio Sloer.

Man, I was looking at the Dark Star but I think I am going to spring for this instead- love the weirdness
Sounds great!! Such beautiful pads to play over..
I’m having a hard time figuring out lighter settings. And the volume spikes and drops are weird.
Sometimes I can't find much variance with the knobs but then I end up finding something cool running through the same knobs again! Strange!
did you ever figure it out?

@@wolvesandguitars I think I'm gonna turn off the trails until I can tame them! LOL
Was waiting for this! Great tutorial on this pedal, thank you!
nice demo, thanks.
Atmosphere is everything,good video
What a beautiful sounding pedal!
I’m trying so hard to make this purchase. It’s just so much money.
I had just bought Mercury X then seen this come out. Wonder if there is overlap there or if Mercury X can do some of this.
Nice! Good demo, i have the dark star and sunlight in separate enclosures, and i have kinda forgotten how atospheric they are!
When are we getting an instrumental album? Love that intro track.
I couldn’t resist. Had to have one. 39:45 🤯🤯🤯
Really cool guitar 👍👍
hey guys, what do i need to practise to be able to compose this type of track? (at the start)
Mess with chord shape inversions, focus more on producing a track than writing parts. That’s my approach at least.
@@markjohnstonofficial thanks
Nice one ! However it did not felt that dark to me if compared to a Chase Bliss Dark World for example which can even sound creepy sometimes 😅
The name comes from the combination of the two reverbs; DARK star and sunLIGHT
@@markjohnstonofficial indeed but still I would’ve loved a darker ambiance on this dark star as it might suggest ?
