      Well, it's the customers that killed Renault Sport division. As brilliant as those cars were, they didn't generate enough revenue to justify the development of another hot hatch class engine that would comply with current and upcoming emission requirements. Renault Sport people are now a part of Alpine.

      @@Maro2196 And its sad so many people dont get it these days... Which is big part of the reason why all cars are so horribly boring to drive.
      Because people cared about the specs and power. All the feel and connection and fun vanished, replaced by electronic/by wire everything, NVH reducing bs and heavy automatic "sports cars" which are less fun than basic commuter car from 1990s and prior. Which is ridiculous.
      Most fun i ever had driving a car was underpowered Fiat 125p 1.5me which itself was a 1970s relic produced on lincese till 1991 and it had 83hp, probably less due to age and wear.
      Followed by 1990 Celica GT-i(156hp) followed by ...1999 Ford Focus Ghia Zetec 2.0(130hp) and....Peugot 307sw 1.6 diesel...
      Celica because it was a lovely around analogue feeling sportscar and great daily for 4 years for me giving me fun every single day.
      Focus because it revved like crazy and gad nice shifter almost as good as celica, tho it didnt feel as fast due to higher seating in it.
      Peugeot because it had a suprisingly nice shifter and steering.
      For all the hate top gear gave them, in early 2000s they still made relatively nice driving cars, especially compared to modern lump..
      Fiat was just purely mechanical hecticly fun experience, it was rattly and noisy and had heavy unassisted steering, heavy clutch and everything required force like doors to just close. It wasnt fast, but it felt amazing.
      Going 50km/h in it through a forest road felt like 130km/h in a newer car. It was exciting and ecstatic to drive.
      All modern cars i drove including high power audi ith kompressor V6 and dsg, feel horribly numb, i can give it one thing, it turns on and grips well, but aside of it... i feel nothing, engine may sound nice but steering wheel feel like video game wheel with no force feedback and barely any weight to it.(and light feeling steering in celica never bothered me as it still was feel full).
      DSG is needlessly jerky at times where i would be both fast and perfectly smooth with a manual.
      Throttle response in my current 2010s subaru is just disconnected, clutch incredibly vague thag after years of driving i dont go by feel but holding foot in certain position guestimating it still, and i still stall it on occassion, which has never happened with Celica, Peugeot or the Focus.
      Even i fiat it only happened once when i was learning to drive it and was backing up uphil where i had to leave it parked on that specific occassion.
      Hydrokinetic(traditional) auto in older early 2000s bmw was much smoother than dsg, so it atleast worked well for being smooth.
      I just wish cars were more fun ti drive no matter the speed or performance again.
      Manufacturers ruined it when in the past even a delivery van was fun and in retrospect it is more fun than what we gen nowadays.

      Low brake fluid was my thought as well. Under braking, the fluid is rushing to the front, and when bouncing around it is likely enough to move whatever floating sensor in the fluid that is linked to the audible alarm.

  • @squeakers27

    Nice lap, great chat with the owner. Hopefully he can solve the brake warning beep, possibly the sensor by the handbrake detecting it's on or an abs sensor being intermittent or brake fluid sensor/the heavy braking and steep up hill sloshed the brake fluid to the point it was just below the sensor causing the warning.

    That beeping must have something to do with the switch from your handbrake. Maybe the vibrations make the car think the handbrake lever is not fully down against the center console ?

    It is better to buy 1.2 turbo and boost it up to 140ps , it will be faster than the RS.

    • @teamsophie3130
      @teamsophie3130 Год назад +3

      but it's a 1.2 turbo. People who buy the RS do so for its exotic mechanics, naturally aspirated engine, manual, short gears, high revolutions, chasis cup and low weight, that is no longer seen. not because of its speed.

    3:12 "The car likes to slide". Unsolicited advice to the owner from my side. It could be reasonable to visit wheel angle adjustment workshop. The really good specialist is able to release nuts or bolts where rear beam connect to the boby. The space in fastening hole always enough to set wheels in zero anlges. This trick made Peugeot 206 more stable during trail braking. I believe it will work for Twingo.

    • @dempsej

      It came like that from factory, that's a Renault RS thing. Simple lift in fast corners makes them overseer, but if one is aware of this character it not unsafe and fully controllable.

    • @woute_r
      @woute_r Год назад

      My twingo is very heavy in the nose and light in the rear so you can play with the rear! It does slide when driven hard but you can use it to trailbrake!

    I once test drove one and HATED it! Absolutely hated it... Shifting was terrible, steering feel was nowhere to be found, just a terrible terrible car to drive! But seeing this video, not hearing Misha say anything about that, makes me wonder: "did I try a destroyed example?!?"

    • @schmid1.079
      @schmid1.079 Год назад +1

      I own one and you have to get used to the more mechanical feel of the shifts. I dont think its bad, were just used to soft shifters in general.
      Maybe the one you tried also needed a change of gearbox oil.
      And yeah, the steering is not responsive whatsoever. Thats easily my biggest gripe with the car. Butt feeling is everything here, and like Misha said, its still quite predictable.
      But for what it is, its a fun car. I think Mishas verdict matches that sentiment.

      Cool story. The twingo R.S is a good little car. I think the problem is with the people that expect porsche performance wich cannot be made for the prices these went for obviously. A lot of people tese days are obsessed with performance and think that every car that comes from the factory needs to be a race car wich off course is ridiculous.
