This was great information as to what to look for. My dog has recently been on antibiotics after an infection, so I will keep this video to hand for reference.
The only thing that could’ve made this video better is if you were to mention specific brands or a way to go about researching this I have a list of things to now look for but nowhere to really start if I had a brand you liked that would give me a starting point something to compare my notes to
Great information!!! Just joined the group on FB. I have so many questions about probiotics. We did an intolerance test and our pup is level 2 or level 3 on some of the most common bacteria in probiotics. WE NEED HELP!!!!!
Very informative ideas Dana madam! Learnt what are the bacteria to look for in my Jonnys probiotics. Yesterday received my first lot of supplements from Four Leaf Rover! Thank you so much for empowering us pet parents. Please make your products available in India. We desperately need them. My baby diagnosed with EPI.
Hi Dana, I'm going to get my 15.5 yr old Lhasa retested again by AnimalBiome. It's been about 1 year since we last did it and she had moderate to severe Dysbiosis. I'm giving her your Protect and we've changed her diet to frozen raw, Answers. I'll circle back to you when I get the results. I have her on your Brain Food and your Sea Safe FAs. I only trust your products and I'm learning so much from you. Thank you.
Thanks, great explanation on probiotics. Most comprehensive tutorial on probiotics for pets. I see so many supplements with "inactive ingredients" that make me wonder why they would add these ingredients to a product to promote health.
The active ingredient, otherwise known as an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API), is the portion of a drug (including supplements) that has therapeutic effects on the body. In other words, it's the chemical compound that's responsible for making you feel better, or improving your health. Inactive ingredients are the additional components that make up the rest of the drug or supplement which don't have an effect on the body. The inactive ingredients are responsible for things like, the drug's overall shape, size, color, making them easier to swallow, making sure your body can effectively absorb the medicine etc. etc. Trust me, you wouldn't want to purchase a probiotic product without at least one or two inactive ingredients cause without any, you would essentially be buying an empty container since bacteria (the active ingredient) are microscopic.
Yes it is a big help. So much is new to me. I would just keep buying probiotics bc my cancerous 11 yo Lab was getting diarraha. She's improved probably by mistake and so many different kinds and brands. Now I know what to look for. Do you have a list or I could copy for reference?
This is great, thank you! How much is too much protein in the probiotics? My dog is currently trying native pet probiotics but says it has 72% crude protein is that too high??
Hi, I did read on one of your articles on your website that you can give probiotics that is used for humans. Any brand in particular that you may recommend because there are tons of them. Unfortunately, dog probiotics are so expensive.
This was very helpful. I saw this after I purchased your Protect probiotic. However, it looks like Protect only contains two strains so wondering about this. Note my dogs are very healthy and have iron stomachs so just looking at additional support. I am hoping the Protect product is the one I need. Thanks.
It contains two strains of Bacillus, which are soil based probiotics. The funny thing about probiotics is that they don't really colonize in your dog's gut ... they give your dog postbiotic benefits. So this should be enough. Protect also contains a third probiotic, Saccharomyces boulardii, which is a beneficial yeast. This is 100% your daily go-to probiotic. If your dog has occasional diarrhea, then give Bifido For Fido but Protect has lots of prebiotics and other ingredients like chlorella and clays to help remove toxins and metals.
I would 100% recommend the Protect ... it's our core daily probiotic with lots of whole food prebiotics and other ingredients like chlorella and clays that help remove toxins and heavy metals.
The strain of probiotic you choose depends on the issues you wantto solve in your dog. For general maintenance and protection toon look for soil based probiotics like Protect.
So people were saying that magnesium stearate dangerous for dogs and cats and that magnesium stearate is found in the pet ultimates probiotics/prebiotics for dog and cat
I get confused on which Pre-Pro- biotic to purchase when I'm on Dogsnaturallymagazine.com........I've bought Love Bugs and Protect. My Dog loves to eat Grass. She is Healthy Raw and Cooked Fed has Fresh Veggies blended and Fruits.
Is it normal for dogs to get diarrhea from probiotics? My dog seems to get it even with 1/4 of recommended dose of a gut guard. Is this a sign of detoxing? Repopulating of good bacteria? I am not sure if I should continue with the probiotic or fast my dog clear the gut. Or should I keep trying for a few days. I am worried it is harming her. My dog eats a home cooked diet normally has good stools with occasional diarrhea. I have tried Protect and it also gave her diarrhea. I am really puzzled on what to do. She is currently on colostrum from four leaf rover
That is strange ... it's possible there is SIBO but soil based probiotics shouldn't be a problem. It won't harm her, it could be detoxifictation like you said. The most common cause of this is dogs that don't get a varied diet and react to different foods. If this is the case, then Bifido For Fido would be a better choice. But soil based probiotics are quite hardy, so try fasting for a day and then give the probiotics in a little broth a few hours apart from the meal. That should do the trick.
Glycerine is in meat products e.g. raw food. Glycerine is certainly important to protect a dog from infections of any kind. Glycerine also carries water to the cells of the body.
Fermented foods can cause gas and bloating in some dogs. They also contain histamines which aren’t indicated for dogs with histamine sensitivities or certain cancers. Fermented foods are also contraindicated for dogs with yeast or SIBO. Man ydogs don’t well with fermented foods but many don’t.
Can I just encourage my dog to eat soil? Just kidding. I wonder if the amount of probiotics in a dogs guts depends on its diet. Do raw diets naturally have more probiotics? I am not at the Raw level yet. I cook chicken and beef for my dog. Probiotics seem to be a specialty in itself. Now only if I had taken notes.
Way too much information. I still have no idea what probiotic to use. How about you just show one, or at least narrow it down. I don't need to be a specialist and I will never remember all this.
Thanks, very knowledgeable. I was overwhelmed looking at all the different manufactured probiotics for my dogs..

There are many out there! You could try Four Leaf Rover!
Hi, I did read on one of your articles on your website that you can give probiotics that is used for humans. Any brand in particular that you may recommend because there are tons of them. Unfortunately, dog probiotics are so expensive.
Yes. But I wish I had a lot DT to refer to
What do you mean by a lot DT?
Should we just click above where it says Shop USA or Shop Canada and order the Dogs Naturally products?
Is lactic acid a product of anaerobic metabolism?
Yes
Thanks!
Hi..this is Sarah from india..that was really informative...I have a query..what are synbiotics...
Synbiotics are a combination of pre and probiotics. :)
yes
I'm able to get the Four Leaf Rover probiotic here in the UK, but am unsure whether this has got a prebiotic included?
Hi which brand probiotic is safe for a little dog of 4.3 pounds with kidney disease. Love her with all my heart 🐶❤️
My German Rottweiler Is 125lbs What Name Probiolics Should I Get I Noticed He Has Bad Breath Just Recently He Is 5 years old,

@@DogsNaturallyMagazineDNM Thank you!
Is it important for a probiotic product to have prebiotics for dogs?
Not really as long as your dog gets a source of fiber like fruits, berries and veggies. Fiber is an excellent prebiotic. :)
Do u have any recommendations for my 6 and 9 months puppies? It's hard to choose.
I would 100% recommend the Protect ... it's our core daily probiotic with lots of whole food prebiotics and other ingredients like chlorella and clays that help remove toxins and heavy metals.
Did I miss it? I was hoping for a recommendation of 2 or 3 probiotics to consider.
The strain of probiotic you choose depends on the issues you wantto solve in your dog. For general maintenance and protection toon look for soil based probiotics like Protect.
If my dog is now on a raw frozen diet that includes green tripe (BJ'S), do I still need to give her Protect or Gut Guard? (DNM - Four Leaf Rover)
You can still offer probiotics as the strains are different and the products offer different benefits than just giving tripe.
So people were saying that magnesium stearate dangerous for dogs and cats

Can human probiotics be given to dogs? Is one better for skin?
Tried soil based probiotic from your website. Sprinkled on food. My dog wouldn’t eat her food!
yes😁
Tapioca is bad for dogs ?
Thanks for the info but it doesn’t help if you don’t give any idea for recommendations

Plain old Kefir is plenty to give dogs. Goats milk. Sauerkraut.

Will you be making probiotics to help with anxiety, aggression, to help the dogs out there who have behaviour problems?
There's not quite enough science there yet to properly formulate this, but it's a very good idea!!
Where on earth do you find a probiotic with 40-50 billion cfu’s????
Kefir

Besides being outrageously expensive ($35 for 15 days), it did absolutely nothing! Not worth the money.
Said nothing
