Bro, I have to say this. I love that you don't edit out when something goes wrong. Anyone else would've edited out that whole section with the bracket and been like "that was a breeze" thank you for being real! 🎉
Dang Cody. You're definitely what we need. It's good to see that even the best of us can have a little difficulty now and then. Yes, the best thing to do is to walk away. Sometimes the solution comes to you when you do that. I always see these mods being done on a manual car. I'm the guy that bought the GT for the Recaro seats and adjustable suspension. I am guessing these can be done to a car with the SPT also?? Thanks for the great videos!!
Great video! Thanks for posting this, probably won’t be the last time me watching this. Only thing holding me back is the check engine light, but the Jpipe is already sitting in my garage, so f**k it.
Man I know to not have rounded any of the bolts was like dance break time😅! The power your making is amazing, but the fact that Subaru gets notified when you have a light is pretty wild! The subie police are on it trying to protect their platform 😂. Great video homie!
Great video and channel content! That J-pipe install seemed more complicated than on other cars. Look forward to what’s next. Hopefully nothing breaks! 🤞
Great info. I purchased a 2022 wrx which was already tuned full bolt on. I was getting the check engine light and just kept disconnecting the ground wire. I got a P0420 code from a basic obd diagnostic tool. The previous owner didn’t leave the COBB tuner so it’s good to know that nothing is wrong with the car.
Woah!! If I'm understanding correctly, the car has/had a tune and bolt on parts. If there's no Accesport in the car then the previous owner most likely Uninstalled the Accesport which would remove the tune and reinstall the factory tune. If your car is on the factory tune with a jpipe, Intake etc that is a recipe for disaster. I would buy an Accesport and a tune ASAP to ensure the vehicle is tuned correcrly for the parts installed.
That’s awesome dude! I think invidia just came out with a downpipe that I’m going to get because they say that they “fixed the check engine light problem with other aftermarket downpipes” we will see.
Damn that’s some good power for so little of mods. Definitely like watching the videos and hope to see we’re you take this car. I think I’ll stick to a tune and intake on my VB for a more reliable daily.
Dude your videos are soooo clear and well made- definitely my favorite to watch. Now since you have a dual tune for E85 and 93(?) does that mean you have to reflash if you want to switch fuels? Does reflashing mean you can be sitting at a parking lot and change it on the fly? Or do you have to stop and carefully plug in your battery to a trickle charger while flashing inside your garage? And if so how long does it take? Like a minute or closer to 5 min? I was hopeful that this catted JPipe would not have a CEL, but thanks for talking about it
Great channel, we have the exact same mods for perf: ETS FMIC, ETS Intake and the ETS J Pipe. I am running full E85 with Boti tune, no idea about the power, but pulls hard. I tried to do the J pipe myself and decided to go to a shop. No idea how they installed the bracket back, but they didn't give me the bracket, so it must be installed.
I also put it back on in one piece the ets flange is bigger so two holes didn’t line up had to drill holes on bracket bigger got it set into place and reinstalled stud then called ets and the said it gets deleted
Never impact nuts from the turbo studs they are higher tensile and they are brittle. That's why they broke on your 2020. Put a little brake fluid on the threads and let it sit. Brake fluid works better than PB Blaster x2. And Ratchet them off
I'll remember the brake fluid trick. And I actually mis-spoke. My 2020 I screwed up and used a 12 point socket on an impact which rounded one of the nuts. So I had to replace it. On my 2015 wrx I snapped 2 studs using a hand ratchet. Although that car also had 60k miles when I installed the Jpipe. But I'll have to remember this and stick with hand tools in the future.
Try not to rev over redline ..5500rpm to be safe, work at a dealer and have saw a few 2.4 motors that like to ear piston skirts. As for your trans save up for a sit 6 speed..
Im also in pa with a 22 people south have to spend alot more money and boost is only at 15psi for them. I only have a perrin and im at 15.5. I want a front mount and a tune
Dude that's insane power for 3 bolt ons. Are you going with the remark catback on this car as well? I got it on mine and it sounds good and looks good with the 4inch tips
Yea. The bracket was the worst. I did not put it back on myself. It will wait for another time maybe ETS will come up with a bracket to replace it with.
CEL is super hit or miss I got one p&l j pipe, joey M didn't get one same mods, but doesn't both me. VD always reads high your TQ is probably relatively close on 22 psi I'm going to guess you're probably more around 50whp less than what it's actually showing. I'm currently FBO running e50 on 24 psi
Then I didn’t like the condition of the studs so I had talked to ets after it was already back in so I took it all apart again installed three new studs new oem licking nuts deleted that bracket and a new j pipe gasket from grim speed
No issues if doing the job I would have extra hardware on hand it cost peanuts but on a Sunday without it and then you need it…. Yea that happened to me ….don’t let it happen to you then I took it apart again and installed all new studs gasket and oem Subaru locking nuts
I didnt overlook it. My car has never failed an inspection as long as they see a cat on there. I don't take it to the dealership tho. If it ever becomes a problem I will swap the jpipe out before inspection every year and swap back afterwards.
@@StreetInspired1 did not really understand - why would you need to touch the manifold side studs if you are removing the cat? I reused the studs several times - there were no leak issues as long as their thread it’s fine and you have new gaskets.
Heres a question. Do you know if we pull the engine to do headstuds. Can we pull 1 factory head bolt at a time and install an ARP stud without replacing the head gaskets?
Has anyone tried using a spark plug defouler for the rear 02 to stop the code? Worked on my catless 2002 was thinking of installing one onto my 24 to see 🤷🏽♂️ haven’t seen anyone mention it
@@StreetInspired1 well the front one needs to be fully into the exhaust otherwise it won’t properly read the AFR. But if ones just in the read you would think it would help
I'm sure this in the comments SOMEWHERE...... All you need to do is remove the studs, then everything including that dumb bracket would go in just as it did from the factory. I knooooow that's normally easier said than done, but since you removed the nuts, the studs come out without a fuss. I believe it's just an E12 socket, it makes everything way easier (don't use an impact). Every time i've messed with my VA and VB turbo, those studs get removed as soon as the nuts come off, I don't even try and play with wedging parts around that fatass catalytic converter in there haha
The extra power is not worth the engine light coming on. Most tuner will not tune with a cel. If you live in a state which requires emissions, Your vehicle wont pass inspection unless u have some sort of connection under the table to get your sticker slap on.
Nope. Cobb removed that with the green speed update a few years back. Unfortunately have to clear the code every 50-100 miles or just deal with it. Haven't tried any 02 spacers or anything yet that might help tho.
I havnt been in the subie game since 2019 so this is all news to me. Way back when i owned a bugeye I was too poor for a accessport and spacers worked. I bet that will still prevent a cel
Sweet, that’s around the power I’d like to be on 93 if possible, e85 isn’t readily available in my area so this is good to know, Your videos have been so helpful to me since I bought my wrx, thanks for the reply!
Not true at all. On the FA20 that us correct vecause the FA20 pushes close to double the boost on the stock tune to make 240whp. The FA24 uses half the boost to make around the same power. Therefore when adding power it surely can flow enough. My car peaks at 19psi at 454whp. My Old VA wrx with the FA20 peaked at 20 psi at 372whp.
@@StreetInspired1 it’s about airflow! The MGT2260Z does not flow anywhere close to enough air for 450 Crank let alone 450 wheel. It’s comical what the internet comes up with.
@JordieG8 people are making 430-450whp all day long on this turbo on the dyno. Even on the 2.0 platform people were pushing 400whp on the stock turbo. It might not be as efficient as something larger but it's getting the job done for most people.

e85 gives 80-100hp by itself most of the time tbh. Would love to see the power gains at pump 91/93
I have sent people with this same setup on 93 making 380-400. So I would say that's about where I'd be without ethanol.

450 is huge for those mods. The fa24 is such an upgrade over the ej25, it kills me theres not a sti coming
Is that your car moving while you're under it or is it the camera???
If u could put sti trans in this car be awesome
You don't want to be screwing things in with power tools all the way to the end. They should only be used for unscrewing once you have loosed the bolt
No heat wrap on the new pipe? I’d think you’d want to as the old one had heat shields.
I am curious how would Subaru know about the check engine light?
Can loosen the whole manifold to allow it to drop down and clear water pump
