Originally played on an 8 string bass. I did my best to replicate the sound but i lowered the octave volumen so it wasn't that intrusive. I think in some live instances it was played just with a 4. You can let me know data about that. I found very little live info and i did my best with my ears. Some part were hard to figure and some almost impossible. I think the whole song has a more feel oriented rhythm and less nuanced rigurous playing on the muted parts especifically. The "vocal break" part was very hard to get and to transcribe. Let me know if you need more info or if you have any question. Song harmony is interesting. You alternate between E Dorian and E Aeolian. Verses and choruses on that order. Also the bass is mostly doing a pedal note while chords change on the guitar, except for choruses that's why you find chords with a "/" on it. That means chord with a different bass note, chord / bass note.
How do you get that muted sound in the main riff
Please do a bass cover tablature of the song Strictly Reserved for You by Charles Bradley! Please! I love the song and especially the bass part ! I cannot find any tablature for it ! Hope you are doing well ! Cheers!
실시간으로 해주새요.
play "'Ramble on", "Good Times Bad Times", "Your Time is Gonna Come" and many more cool Led zeppelin stuff.....
It's a song request...
You can also try "Power" by Marcus Miller.😁
Youre always on point. Nicely done man.
I love how the song sounds like something you’d hear on a battlefield. The drums are cannons, the basses are galloping steeds, and the guitars are like the whistles of airborne artillery. Fucking incredible songwriting.
How can we say no...
Like we ONLY know how2 dominate
@@chrisyasus8912 In reality though those opening lyrics and the song in general is about them leaving the UK in order to skirt the tax laws.
JPJ was a MONSTER. Nice job.
*is.
He is alive and well, still rocking.
Is*
And forever will be! THE END
was a monster then, is a monster now
This is probably the most ghost notes in a song ever..
Yes-roundabout: finally a worthy opponent
Roxanne
Not trying to sound rude, or burst your bubble, these are not ghost notes.
They're dead notes. Ghost notes are those notes in the parentheses, but the x-notes are dead notes.
@@thexdude Wikipedia says the terms are synonymous
@@firebeardnc6012 Ah, I use Flat.io for music and the ghost notes are always in parentheses, but both redirect to each other.
どうしてもジミーペイジとジョンボーナムに目を奪われがちだけどジョンポールジョーンズの独創的なベースラインがツェッペリンサウンドの重要な構成要素であることをこの動画が証明してくれました🎉
Everyone always "oohs and ahhs" over the other 3 elements to this song. Not taking away from Bonham's drumming (which is absolutely monstrous), Robert's penetrating voice, or that psychedelic guitar playing by Jimmy... but without this epic bass undertone the song is just blah for me. Well done covering it! Definitely my favourite Zep song for sure.
In my experience more people ooh and ahh over the bass (for good reason), it seems to be the first thing most people notice about this song including myself as a teenager. I recently played it for my girlfriend who isn't even really into rock music and it was immediately what got her attention and 90% of the comments on the video for the remastered video were about JPJs galloping bass. Trust me, his contribution is not going unnoticed.
JPJ is just as much a titan of Zep as the other three. They're all fkn awesome🤘
Somebody get that MAN a Beer!!!
@Drekken Hutchinson thats illegal
Achilles last stand is an awsome song. Maybe my favorite led zeppelin song. You will never hear this song on the radio, but they will play "whole lotta love" every day.
Your playing here is fantastic. I always thought it was difficult to hear the bassline on the actual album, so this is perfect
Agree, Achilles Last Stand is my favorite studio song by LZ, but No Quarter Live @ MSG 1973 is my favorite live version song by LZ
@@saint_almothe best live is Achilles remaster at knewborth
Certainly one of the best bass cover of Zeppelin I've ever heard
..Signed John Paul Jones.A killing master piece..
My right arm would have fell off after playing this song. Actually it would have cramped beyond redemption after the first verse. Awesome job my friend.
This just proofs you're comment about gear. Really incredible
All the discomfort I've felt many times after seeing many Bass covers has been completely eliminated! Great! I was really impressed by the perfect reproduction of J.P. Jones' mistake at 9:22!
Damn! This is probably the craziest playing I've seen from you since the Primus covers, and this isn't even slap.
I never thought I'd live to see anyone even attempt to cover this (and perfectly as well) this makes me happy :3
The tone is killing me. Great job man!
Jaja men
Hasta hace unas horas supe que eras de Latinoamérica
Eres un maldito genio del bajo
Te he visto desde hace mucho tiempo y eres uno de los mejores
Sigue así y serás muy grande
Great job! Achilles has been my favorite Zep tune for 30 years. It looks like your right arm took a beating on this song!
This is a giant of a song on all fronts, and that pace on the bass and tone u got were sick, fucking killed it 👏
My favorite Led Zeppelin song. Thank you for covering it!
7:30😱😱😱 I’m speechless
I’m quitting bass, I just can’t handle it any more
Thankyou for posting this video. I've wanted to learn this song for so long but haven't been able to find a fully reliable transcription.
This is awesome.
I bet Steve Harris would be able to play this without the pic. Master of galloping. But this song needs to be played with a pic for the correct tone. thanks man
I replicate steve's plays , i believe i'd rather use a pic than fingers here , specially with a 8 strings bass (originally)
Thank you for bringing that amazing bass line within the grasp of mere mortals! Well done!
As soon as aI saw a new cover I instantly clicked
Gracias Me has entretenido y me has ayudado a avansar en mi trcnica durante la cuarentena
My friend…I’ve been a LZ guy for my entire adult life. Thank you for this post! Young Johnny was/is a tremendous picker. Where the hell did he learn to do this? I know he loved Jet Harris during the sixties so that may explain some of it. In fact Jones almost became a full time member of the Shadows back in ‘63! Check out his first ever single called Baja. It definitely speaks of the times. Thank you once more for this!
That I've been playing this song wrong for years comes as no surprise but I wasn't expecting it to be even trickier than I thought it was.
JPJ was awesome in LZ and you're a beast.
ミュートも含めどうやったらこんなベースを思いつくのか。この曲、全員が変態的天才の集大成なのだが、このベースあってこそのこの疾走感だと思うな。
Incredible it's all in that right hand how you can keep that pace up is amazing my fave zepp tune
And this is why I frikin love RUclips. I always wondered how that was being played. Now I know. Fantastic job, thanks so much for sharing
やっぱジョンは細かい事やってるなぁ〜でもベースの細かい動きがツェッペリンのハードロックだけで終わらん味付け。これ、ライブではもっとエグいことするから信じられへん。
For everyone who plays with fingers, this is a great exercise
I thought John Paul Jones played a 8 string bass on that song but it sounded very well with the bass you had very well done great job Summit excellent great galloping and detail all the song
Goddamn you killed this man. I finally get to hear what jpj was doing, and it's so good
Well done brother! I love that song!!! Never saw anyone try to cover it though.... your attention to detail is impressive as always. Did you ever cover "When the Levee Breaks" yet? There's a tricky thing about the arrangement of that one too.
The spectacular JPJ! 🎸🔥
Well done. I will be watching this several times. My favorite LZ song.
Very well done my brother you pay attention to a lot of detail and that Galloping bass was excellent I didn't know John Paul Jones played like that in that song exactly the way you did is sounded very very extraordinary thanks for bringing it down great video Achilles Last Stand is my favorite Led Zeppelin song it's over 10 minutes long
Oh my what a surprise! My all time favorite song! THANK YOU!
かっこよすぎて落涙
that is some good ghost note practice.
I've BEEN WAITING FOR YOU TO UPLOAD
Wow! This is pretty awesome! I would love to hear and see this without any background music, with just you on bass!
I think I was the one to request this a very long time ago. You did a great job, thank you so much for posting this. It’s a challenging one. Weeeeena po
My God, you are an amazing bass player!!!!!!!
11分 全部見ちゃったよ
多分 何回も見に来るな
Been waiting for this one. Nice man!!
Awesome work, as usual.
Keep up the excellent job!
Great work, amazing groove, masterpiece
If I were an alien and you showed me a bunch of Yes songs, then showed me this song and told me it was by Yes, I would find it hard to tell the difference.
“ The ‘galloping’ light bulb went off in Steve Harris head the day this album was released in 1976.”
👏🏻🥳👏🏻🥳👏🏻🥳👏🏻🥳
Excelente trabajo maestro 🙌🏻🔥🙌🏻🔥🙌🏻🔥🙌🏻🔥🙌🏻
you usually get it right on the first take?
i think this was take 2 or 3, but i practiced about 10 times or so before. Usually is something like that
quickest 10 min in music
nice finally an excuse to pick up my 8 string bass, you should have a crack at 'Nobody's Fault But Mine'
My go to guy, when i need too learn killer bass tabs n songs
Great job! Awesome bass to an incredible song.
Holy heck this is ridiculous. Great job!
What a gnarly bassline!
Tried to learn this song with my band, had to do it by ear, this video would have made it 1000× easier haha
Muy buen bajo elcéctrico. Muy bien tocado. Gracias por compartir tus conocimientos.
Yes! You cover it! Yes!
Such an amazing surprise!
Another amazing cover. Thank you!
Insane cover & song, well done
One of the best cover 👍
Well done. That is impressive.
Good Job! Can you play RHCP - Get up and Jump? It would be so fun hear you play this incredible and legendary bassline ^^
My Wrist’s Last Stand
Like bass and rhythm guitars
I also play bass, but I'm fatigued just by watching this. Great job!
Loved this one!!
Awesome work. If I can get half of this down ill be happy.
Could you do Damaged Goods by Gang Of Four amazing bass line
Duuuuude your pick was burning the hell out the strings
Please do Ramble On!
Genial
Ya era hora!
MERAVIGLIOSO!
This (for example) is why I stan John Paul Jones ✨🤘
Excellent, well done!
Great job!
Damn man are you part metronome? Insane cover!
play "'Ramble on", "Good Times Bad Times" and many more Led zeppelin stuff.....
Was your arm okay after this? You were galloping for about 10 minutes straight
Watch him live. He doubles the riff jimmy does before going into the galloping part.
Estoy seguro que Steve Harris se influenció más que la xuxa con este tema!
PLEASE CHILDREN OF THE GRAVE BLACK SABBATH PLEASEEEE
Children Of The Grave (Bass Cover) Tabs by Florainbass
Definitely more Sabbath!!!
That will be way to hard for cover solutions
Im joking
Hey JPJ, how many ghosts are you going to play?
Yes.
Please cover ,
Deep purple - smoke on the water .
Only bass 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Amazingggggggg!!!!!!!!!!!!
great ..... can see whats going on now! Cheers
Epic.
It's so fast. I'm set on learning this one though. Thank you!
Led Zeppelin was such an awesome band. Who else could have done that?
Do Dazed and Confused Led Zeppelin
On a scale of 1-10 how hard is this song to play/learn? Badass cover btw!
This song is a blast to play if you practice consistently, don’t give up!
8/10, this is an absolute challenge
It’s deceptively hard. The ghost notes and galloping are definitely a hurdle but once you get that down and master the timing, it’s easy and super fun when you play it with the song.
It's not hard at all, but it's a cool song
simplemente grandioso!!!!
CAROUSELAMBRA!!!!
My right hand hurts just watching this
Brutal
Maybe Heartbreaker next? the bass is dirty on this song
