How cool you have all of this old film and that you even thought to do it and that you are willing to tell these stories. (My daughter is a film major in her last year at UC Davis so I will just have to ask if she has heard of Pimpy). I did have to laugh at the big hits off a pipe and then coughing...did that as well!! The clip of you signing Satisfaction sounded damn. Really enjoying the channel brother.

Thank you Michael! Glad you enjoyed my little trip into the past. I’ve had a fun time looking through all my movie footage and have wondered if others would find it interesting. We were really into making movies so there’s a lot of cool footage in my “home movies” playlist. You should watch Pimpy. It’s a really fun film. Cheers!

😊😊I remember seeing the Hari Krishnas carrieng tambourines and handing out flowers at the airports. My mom got so mad at me when I would expect a flower from them 😆 🤣 😂

Great footage of young people getting stoned back in the day in a Lost Coast-like setting. Love it! I know there's a lot more context, but it's a great feeling to see. Also, I think pot being a gateway drug is only true under total prohibition and/or a drug war. With legalization and medical use, there are many hardworking people who just prefer pot only; but in a legalized setting, you're not dealing with acid heads or other drug addicts. You go to a clean, Walmart-like dispensary. Also don't forget you were a teen during a certain zeitgeist, pot was tied and connected with other drugs in that special time and history.

Jon, your early albums were as good as it gets: The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, and Elton! The late 60s and 70s were a unique time. Ever watch that 1983 film "Dazed and Confused"? Too bad that the drug use got out of control for awhile. Tough life lessons. Good thing that you came out the other end of it, hopefully mostly unscathed, with some happy memories and have gone on to do all kinds of interesting musical things. You have recorded with Dee Murray and Nigel Olsson (!) and interviewed a boatload of famous talented musicians. Not too bad! By the way, "Satisfaction" sounded brilliant.

Thank you so much for the kind words, Douglas. I sincerely mean that. I feel life been richly blessed in my life. Even the “detours“ played a part in making me who I am today. It’s taken a long time but have peace and joy in my life. And I’m also completely free of depression and drug use. That itself is a huge blessing. Thank you.

Are you familiar with the theological idea of the wooing of the Holy Spirit? Simply put, this is the idea that if God has a blessing for you - salvation, a call, a gift, whatever - the Holy Spirit will show up again and again and again until you accept the blessing. In the narrative you share here, I wonder if you look back and see this wooing, this gentle tugging at your authentic self as you explored other ways of being? I believe that music in all forms is a gift from the Divine (no matter how one understands the Divine), so I also wonder if you experienced the "voice" of God as a constant through your music? Do you think music was an enduring connection to and reminder of the presence of God for you no matter the genre or purpose of the music?
