I've been receiving ketamine IM in a clinical setting. It's saved my life!

Why hasn't the FDA approved ketamine for use in treating depression if there is so much data indicating how beneficial it is to patients? Is it because ketamine was patented as an anesthesia not as an anti depressant? Very informative talk. Thank you

Good question. Ketamine was approved as an anesthetic in 1970. Its patent is up. Its a cheap generic drug. The FDA has strict and very expensive requirements in order to approve drugs AND add indications to existing drugs. No one wants to pay for the process since the patent is up and they will never recoup their cost. It would have to be a philanthropic endeavor.

Great vid love your guys videos I actually had 6 IV infusions early this year that went great for me for months but then when I transitioned to sublingual at home use it increased my anxiety and panic attacks don't know why ? then I had to do a booster but I was so anxious before the booster that I was scared to do it and unfortunately it made me 10 times worse it had the most. scariest effects the day after and days after that I just hope if anyone has gone through the same expirience if its possible for the brain to come back after such traumatic experiences. I'm currently on meds for anxiety and ocd like an antipsychotic but I just hope that if theres any possibility that my brain can come back to normal because ketamine is a very strong medication and I was worried

How many treatments of ketamine is needed. My name is Debbie and I live in Michigan. I’m seeing a psychiatrist and started ECT with Ketamine.

One course of treatment is six ketamine infusions over 2-3 weeks. ECT and ketamine are very different treatments. Ketamine is superior in safety and efficacy for most people. Consider trialing IV ketamine infusions before ECT.

Do you use versed along with ketamine during infusions?

Sometimes, when needed, but we usually help patients relax with proper preparation, care, and support during the experience, as well as the ability to decrease the infusion rate to lighten it.

What are your thoughts on intramuscular vs IV injections? My clinic does everything "right" as you describe it, but they do IM and the rush produces extreme anxiety in me. I simply don`t understand their rationale. Can you maybe explain it to me?

Many clinics offer IM because it is faster and easier for them. As you point out, its less comfortable for most patients than IV. It is also not as safe nor efficacious as the IV route of administration.
