      It works just about as well. The coke has phosphoric acid, which might give it a bit of a boost. Though I clean stuck on stuff via boiling or steaming with plain old water just fine.

      That is what happened. Barbeque is just ketchip sugar and spices. Hot water desolves sugar and the sugars the hard part

    • @Abion47
      @Abion47 3 года назад +14

      @@nothingwhy688 Not quite. Burnt sugar is no longer sugar, it's just carbon. There's likely enough residual sugar though that combined with the moisture and heat from the boiling water is enough to loosen the carbon, and carbon itself is somewhat water-soluble (though not nearly as much as sugar is), and acidity helps as well whether it's phosphoric acid from the cola or another acid like vinegar (acetic acid). But if it's truly burnt to the point of being 100% caked-on carbon, this method will not help you.

    • @nothingwhy688
      @nothingwhy688 3 года назад +4

      @@Abion47 your right. There's ketchup in some barbeque. Meaning the hot water broke up the carbon and and whatever vinegar was left helped it. Plus the heat

      Not so fast! A tandori oven cooks at around 500C, and you likely get these sorts of temperatures in a barbacue pit as well. You need this sort of temperature to get that bit of searing that makes ribs and kebabs so tasty.
      You could totally cook bacon at this temperature. Just remember that it will cook very quickly and take it out before it burns.
      Also, bread is typically baked at around 175-225C, though flatbreads generally benefit from getting the temperature as high as you can, which for my oven is around 280C

    Oven cooking bacon is the best way to cook bacon. The trick is to put it into a cold oven, then set the temp (about 400 degrees f) and start timing. It will take between 25 and 35 minutes depending on your oven and how you like your bacon. Starting with a cold oven allows the bacon fat to slowly render as it comes up to temp.
    I imagion that this method would work better then the pan, but I can't see it being particularly cola flavored.

    Just to be clear, making a cake with only a can of pop is a super easy method. Any box cake mix and any 12oz can of pop. You don't need eggs, because the bubbles act as leavening. It makes for a super moist cake, and only tastes like the cake flavor.

    Fun fact: the "hack" with the pan with burnt-on stuff...you can get the same results just using water (maybe a bit of dish soap). In fact, if your pan won't be damaged from the sudden temp change, just put some hot water in right as soon as you're done cooking. No coke needed. In fact, I was afraid they'd end up with more stuff burnt on with the coke because of the sugar.

    The cola brownie one is actually a general baking hack you can also do with cakes. It's a "if you don't have oil and eggs around but you have soda and a cake/brownie mix" thing. You can actually use any soda and can do it with sugar free sodas for a lower fat cake if someone is concerned about that. Though they are considerably denser and more moist than going by the baking instructions.
