Try bottled water in the centrifuge. They say "minerals added for taste." I wonder if that would settle out.
Ohhhh
Probably not, as they are dissolved? I mean.. I just think there's more plausibility to it not working than it doing something
Maybe but I kinda doubt it would separate

FYI: The liquid post centrifuging is referred to as the 'supernatant' and the solid is called the 'pellet'.
Also three common reasons why your tubes were breaking:
1. Low quality tubes.
2. You're poorly balancing the centifuge.
3. You're using a second hand centifuge that has debris in the rotor.
You must work in one of those labs like on those forensic crime shows.
I was wondering what would cause them to break
@@marktwain3387 I wouldn't say that. Although I don't know the person, they probably have just gone through a chemistry course/class or has done a bit of research.
Modest Badger aren’t they also just putting the liquids in there for super long?
You should have done honey, I'd have loved to see what honey separated into, if anything.
Most likely it would separate into fructose and glucose.
Those are the 2 main components of honey. Well, those and a little bit of water.
The Keeper the sugar that was in the nesquik milk didnt seperate out so i highly doubt it would happen to honey
@@E_Rico There's only one way to find out!! The King of Random, help us figure this out!
Organic chemist here! Raw honey would deposit a sugar pellet and a thinner aqueous water soluble solution. Processed honey would do very little except maybe pellet a little bit and create a less viscous honey. This is because sugar is very water soluble, and processed honey has most of the fats and salts removed. The primary constituents of the honey pellet would be fats/oils/waxes and water insoluble inorganic salts!

Tbh I do it too the spaces between the prongs on the fork (or however you call it) makes for a great somewhat makeshift whisk(even though you don't have to makeshift a fork), Cuz if you stir with a spoon the powder still tends to clump up at some spots in the milk and with a fork I never had that problem

The only time I’ve had anything break in a centrifuge was when I used conical bottom glass tubes. You were doomed to have some of them break from the start. Next time try plastic tubes; they aren’t as clear as glass, but they won’t break.

You should try what happens when Flashdrives and Battery packets plug into each other. What happens to the files or will it explode?
Nothing will happen, the battery packs will provide the same voltage as a PC would, so all you would be doing is providing power for no reason.
Nothing would happen, the USB flash drive will just get power. The data lines are seperate from the power lines.

I wanna see different glues in a centrifuge, like rubber cement, Elmer's, ect.
Depending on the glue, they will either do nothing/cure or separate into the polymer and solvent! Some glues are a polymer which is kept from immediately polymerizing by being partially dissolved in solvent. Other glues are their own solvent and will just become harder/more concentrated at the tip

You nailed it on the sugar solution with the chocolate milk- Remember that cocoa solids are fat and won't mix easily in milk or water.
I saw the butter one coming
When your making butter you churn the cream to separate the fat from the buttermilk
You essentially made and un-made slip. I'm impressed.
“Let’s make sure to keep it balanced so it doesn’t break!” *doesnt use any tools of measuring* “Oh no! It broke! Who could of predicted this?!”
Same here, they should use a measuring beaker or something else to measure liquids
Does it really make that much of a difference to break glass?
Kay well, considering how when I’ve used a centrifuge while using a micro-pipette I’ve never had a tube break. They eyeballed and had like half of them break.
Laney Studz
I saw one comment say its possible they used too much liquid in the vials? I dunno much about centrifuges.
Kay possibly, I don’t know that but I know balancing is VERY important

Edit: Wow guys thanks for the likes! I’ve never gotten this many before :)
I'm guessing you mean the ones on plates/paper (Thin Layer Chromatography) because there are a lot of different types of chromatography
@@yannickvanzetten8278 If they mean TLC, then it certainly wouldn't work in a vacuum chamber. The solvent vapors help the solvent travel up the plate, but they would just be pulled out by the pump. It would be very anti-climatic if my thinking is correct, lol.

The centrifuge is a nice addition to the king of random experiments that can be done, I would try separating different types of sand from a beach near you or sand in the dessert. Try to pulverized it a bit and then sift, put into a solution. It might be interesting to see if there is any separation of the pulverized sifted sand components.
I love how they live up to there name and how entertaining they are
Although I've never used this type of centrifuge, I know that if my rare samples kept breaking I'd be rather upset. Surely there's an issue here.
This is why we use plastic tubes in a hospital setting.
@@amcal88 So is this a known issue, or are they just using low quality tubes at too high rpm?
Ian Under the force of the spin, the conical (pointed) end of the glass tubes can’t hold up to the force and they’ll break. I’m with Ashley on this. Plastic tubes all the way. The plastic insert that held the tubes appears to be a round bottom. Maybe a round bottom glass tube would be better than suited for TKOR purposes.
Definitely need to invest in plastic spin tubes, or fisher conical glass ones.
It may be because there was a little too much weight difference. They didnt seem like they were weighing the samples.
DRINKING GAME: 1 shot everytime Nate says "CENTER-fuge" instead of Centrifuge
Mizuno90210 this is a great idea
@KittyGaming123 lol l
@KittyGaming123 a shot of pure water xd
A shot of espresso
And every time he tastes the solids and says "not a lot of flavor"
I use centrifuges a lot, so I would definitely recommend using plastic tubes if at all possible. Glass tubes break really easily and plastic tubes can really handle far higher speeds. That being said glass tubes are easier to clean because they don't scratch so it really is a matter of preference.
I'd love to see if you can create an emulsion that doesn't separate and if store bought ones (such as mayo) can be separated. What about other common condiments?
"Eww, it's squishy" lmao
Love this machine looking forward to more experiments with is in the future 🧪
You can blend leaves in an isotonic solution, sieve out the big leaf bits and put the liquid in the centrifuge. At different speeds different cell structures will sepetrate out starting with cell walls and nucleui at slow rpm
I've never used glass in a centrifuge before, and I've used one for years and years. If you use plastic next time, it shouldn't break. Also, you'll have better results if you actually measure things out, rather than eyeballing it. It might also be fun for you to experiment with varying RPMs and times, but with the same substance.
(Also, like someone else pointed out, after you spin it down, the liquid is called the supernatant and the solid at the bottom is called the pellet.)
The paint, particularly the gold reminds me of Felix (felixious, felicious?) From Harry potter
felix felicis
It make me laugh how they wear gloves for some projects that don’t need them, but don’t wear gloves other times when they need them. Nate has paint all over his fingers 🤣🤣

It would be interesting to see some thicker substances like ketchup, bbq sauce, and maple syrup. I am curious to see if the ketchup or bbq sauce will separate into the water, vinegar and then the spices.
There’s a TikTok tutorial of some one recycling paper and making a new peice of paper can you guys try that .
It's a lie, trust me, you're neglecting the obviousness of the ink from the original paper used to recycle into new paper, yeah you can do it, but it's not fit for purpose so why bother?
