      Please do not take this as patronizing because I mean this genuinely.
      Do you know what happens when two states of differing atomic motion on a large enough scale interact intimately? (Intimatly strictly being used in the context of physical contact) If you do not, then im about to tell you the most common and observed answer.
      The answer sadly is an explosion. Strictly dependant on the difference in temperature, it could likely result in a massive explosion that could be dangerous or potentially leathal. So while yes i do agree with you original post in a way, that i would love to see liquid nitrogen being poured on to a piece of metal that is at forging/welding temperatures (potential collab with Alec Steele sinces he's in the US now), however nate or grant attempting while welding would be potentially catastrophic.

    The insular layer the ice forms has an important function in nature. If you’ve ever seen a leaf encased in ice in winter, it actually acts as a shield against frost damage. Some gardeners and homeowners will even spray bushes and other plants to encourage this encasement to protect their plants through harsher winter freezes.

    Man, somehow someone needs to get Gordon Ramsey to do a parody recipe demonstration that involves putting ice cubes in liquid nitrogen to "freeze" them.
    "Right, now that our ice cubes are properly frozen, we can gently remove them from the liquid nitrogen. Delicious, easy to do, phenomenal. Now, onto the grill...make sure the grill is piping hot so you get that perfect sear on the ice cubes. Thirty seconds, then off, into the blender with your strawberries and cream. Beautiful. Blend until smooth, and that ladies and gentlemen, is how you make a perfect Grilled Ice Strawberries and Creme mouse. Look at that...gorgeous."

    Research on the property called "heat capacity" water has an insanely high one, so cooling it down from a temperature above 0 probably wont make it flash freeze, maybe if you're really close to 0 already.
    that heat capacity is also the reason why it takes soooo much energy to boil water

    You should try and drop Sodium into Liquid Nitrogen. Will it not react as its so cold ? Or will it react faster than in water due to Collision Theroy as the molecules are moving faster at room temperature ?

      @@Highschoolhalflife The reason Sodium is so reactive is because it only has 1 electron in its outer shell and it really wantr to lose it to have a full outer shell. It will react not only with water as it wants to lose it so desperately. This is why Sodium explodes in a reaction in water

      Sodium Nitride!! That's what you get when your nitrogen filled tires spring a leak in the winter up north.... So after thinking about what I just wrote, there is a reason roads are not salted if the ambient air temperature drops below a certain degree. Sodium is only effective down to temperature that are much greater than liquid nitrogen.

    I have an idea. Use this same tactic to color the ice, but use super strong flavored syrup (like a really stout cherry flavor along with more flavors) and then put it in a glass of water and by the time you get done drinking, the outer part of the next flavor you get will be exposed and you can get more water and it’ll be a new flavor.

    Water can reach a 'flash point' where addition of a piece of ice would cause the entire body of water to spontaneously and suddenly freeze. But it's not going to happen the way you're doing things. Even when water is at 0ºC, freezing it requires removing a substantial amount of energy. Phase transitions require a change in energy (heat of fusion for melting/freezing, heat of vaporization for boiling/condensing).
    To get an entire body of water to suddenly freeze, you would need to supercool it. Essentially this means reducing the temperature below freezing. To do this, you would need to fill a very smooth container (thoroughly cleaned glass) with very pure water (distilled or maybe deionized) and chill it to be low freezing. Then drop a bit of ice in and the whole thing will suddenly freeze.

  • @AcoAegis
    @AcoAegis 4 года назад

    You could supercool the icecubes, then blend them.
    Then, re-supercool the crushed ice powder/crumbs and get really cold water. Pour the water on that bad boi and it should freeze solid within a minute.
