Many thanks Aidan, what a day! A fair amount of rain through the day and plenty more in the week. It’s going to be noticeably cold as the week wears on too, still we’ve coped with worse over the years. We mustn’t rule out the fact that there will be some sun too. Thanks again Aidan, the Met Office too. Take care everyone, and do drive carefully! 😊
The weather is abysmal. I'm fine with a bit of cold heading in, it is autumn after all, but I can't be doing with all this rain! Seriously praying that this autumn and winter is drier than last. Our farmers for one need a break - remember last winter? A really bad harvest for winter vegetables - sprouts, potatoes, parsnips etc. Locally produced root vegetable crops have been fairly awful all year. I think we can all deal with a bit of wet weather, even if it gets annoying quickly. What is harder to deal with and what few really consider, is how it impacts our food production. The knock-on impact really is quite serious business.
@@essexfarmer9610 Apologies I meant North East Essex running along the coast Clacton etc not North Essex in general. The A12 bends round at Colchester before Clacton and seemingly the wet weather followed suit.
@@nigelnightmare4160 really , wow that’s so dangerous! Looks like they’re breaking. The other thing is snow ,trouble is I think a lot of ppl learn to drive in the summer mths and don’t know how to drive in bad weather, but then I thought “we live in the uk and don’t get a summer ! 😂
@Met Office UK Weather After this low pressure system, I think the Met Office needs to change the way they name storms to raise awareness. Although this system did not have strong winds, the impacts from rain were devastating. Without naming this feature, I'm sure a lot of people were caught off guard with the severity of the rainfall. Is there a way we can change the current process of naming storms to address weak but dangerous systems like this?
Wasn’t it like this last Autumn, and it continued through winter. Climate is definitely acting wrong. Stupid jet stream is not behaving properly. I like dry cold hoar frosts. 👍❤️👍
To be fair, here in the Midlands we have had very little rain for many weeks and it's been nice and warm. We had to have rain some time and Autumn must make an entrance eventually.
Amusing how some people don't realise that without rain we wouldn't be here. Give me cool wet weather to hot stifling dry heat any day of the week. That's just as awful for a lot of us.
@@michellemcgowan5657 they are a distant memory I've been in shorts since April, I'm not looking forward to their return as it means summer really has passed for the year
Frequent lightning eh? I never even saw one and the clap of thunder that was loud enough to shake the wife's car came from a flash 6km away caught on a doorbell camera.
Eight to nine million lightning strikes hit the earth every day, with a bolt of lightning reaching a temperature of 27,700°C and carrying 100 million volts - each one can be up to five miles long…. A thunderstorm is effectively a giant liquid fertilising event that not only provides your garden with plenty of water but also with loads of nitrogen that encouraged leafy growth on plants….
The week ahead forecast: Released late Monday afternoon. Spends the first minute and a half telling is what has already happened and then doesn't go past Saturday. Please can we have this released on Sunday afternoon with a decent range so we can actually plan our week?
@@juttagrimmer2058 Doesn't that suggest that the 10 day trend is pointless then? I'm just saying if you're putting out a video called 'the week ahead' then it should cover the week ahead and be published before the week starts. The next day forecast is wrong 50% of the time so I'm not expecting miracles but I have to plan next weekend based on something.
This is how I remember Autumn from my childhood in 50’s and 60’s. Running to school through piles of wet golden leaves collecting conkers. Recent years Septembers and Octobers seem to have been warmer with “ Indian Summers”.
Devastating thunder storm? N̈ot one flash or bang here in the south .I haven't heard thunder for years .everything you forecast it we get nothing here.
What didn't they get right? The thunderstorms happened as predicted, the heavy rain happened as predicted and the temperatures will drop this week as predicted. I'm curious to know what's wrong.
@Mykst Guess work, all guess work. If you watch the video you'll hear him say that they can't really predict what's going to happen on Wednesday TWO days away, your having a laugh. Pure guess work!

Well said Matthew
It's only going to worsen. Get ready for global famine.
So much rain yet in North Essex and probably East Suffolk as well its been pretty much bone dry for weeks bar the odd bit of rain to settle the dust.
Same in Hull
I had 40mm at Harlow, although our other farm weather stations got nearer 30mm across west Essex and east Herts.
