    Today we are going to install the new revision of my iFlash flex cable for PS2 Slim. This new revision aims to correct a couple of issues I had with the first prototype, and if those issues are sufficiently rectified then this will be the final release version of the flex cable.
    The iFlash2PS2 flex cable is an quick solder flex for the PS2 Slim that allows you to connect an iFlash SD card to PATA adapter. iFlash adapters were originally designed for iPods, but they work particularly well for PS2 also because they don't have a 128GB SD card size limit. The iFlash performs like an HDD, so you will get full speed loading and no FMV stutter unlike other solutions like USB loading, or MX4SIO.

    Wouldn’t a zif connector, or something similar be better instead of having to solder the extender cable to the power board? Just less possibilities for error

    You can solder a bios chip from an scph-5000 and that should enable freehdboot

      I've read elsewhere that doing this causes the optical drive to stop reading media. Is there a workaround for that now?

    Que tal buenos dias amigo quisiera saber que costo tiene adaptador HDD a SD,
    Y una peticion porfavor
    podrias hacer una comparacion de velocidad de lectura en los juegos, comparandolo con otros metodos de carga - SMB, USB, MX4SIO;
    es que me preocupa hacer un pedido de tu producto y resulte que por algun componente como los flex la velocidad de lectura este limitada, y sea lo mismo que el MX4SIO o SMB

    I look forward to ordering. Cant wait to install this. I was going to go the m2ps2 route, but Modsville mentioned a while ago there were a few people looking at getting these sorted.
    So would this work with the quad? To give 4tb of space theoretically( not sure the ps2 library is even that big but in theory could this support that?)
    Also is there anything special about wiring to the iflasher? Or is it simply a pata to sd converter? Asking as i’d love to be able to wire up one to a dreamcast. As the normal sd card method doesnt let Microsoft ce games work. Great video thanks :)

    • @ArthrimusTech
      @ArthrimusTech  2 месяца назад +1

      It should work with the quad, but it has not been tested yet. The only problem with the dual or quad is that loading games will be difficult because you can't just remove the SD cards and plug them into your computer. You'd need to connect the iFlash to your PC using a USB enclosure any time you want to add games.
      The iFlash is a PATA emulator, so it converts the SD card interface to IDE just like a real hard drive, so theoretically it should work with any device that can connect to IDE drives assuming you have an adapter cable for it.

      @@ArthrimusTech ah yeah good point with dual and quad.
      Thank you for confirming thats really good to know. I look forward to your finalised adapter and stuff.

      @@ArthrimusTech Hi is the iflash to ide adapter you used ( the break out board one) open source of is it something you made? Im just trying to find on to see if i can test this with a dreamcast. Thanks either way

      @ArthrimusTech  2 месяца назад +1

      @@QTronics It's actually not an iFlash adapter. I just bought a generic 40 pin ZIF to DIP adapter off of Amazon and wired it up using a pinout I found online for 40 pin ZIF 1.8" IDE drive.

    why does it look like the FFC solder pads on the "3 resistors" section is going to bridge a connection between the solder points to the vias that are right there......

    • @ArthrimusTech
      @ArthrimusTech  Месяц назад

      It won't. The bottom side of the flex cable doesn't have the full pad exposed like the top side does, so the vias are masked by the flex.

    I do wonder if this will work with the dosdude drive. does fhddboot work on the 70012?

    • @ArthrimusTech
      @ArthrimusTech  2 месяца назад

      Does the dosdude drive have a 40 pin ZIF version? If so then it should work. As far as I know none of the slim models support Free HD boot. My understanding is that they removed the IDE drivers from the bios on these models.

    Nice work. What its the sd card size limit?

    • @ArthrimusTech
      @ArthrimusTech  Месяц назад

      Theoretically there is no size limit, but it has been working with 1TB SD Cards. It is incompatible with the SanDisk 1TB and 1.5TB cards, but that's not because of a size limit, that's because those particular cards are not reliable with the iFlash.

      SCPH-700XX models. The most common compatible model in North America would be the SCPH-70012.
