dude, i’m 36 years old right now and i always saw my grandpa do that when he was cleaning up after doing lawn work . i would hangout in his garage as a kid and i always thought he was just kookooo for doing that . That's how I wrap my cords too but I start from the middle so you don't have to undo the whole cord to use it, just undo as much length as you need. Great channel Blake, keep the awesome videos coming!
Put a Tie-wrap at middle as marker so it’s easier to start from middle. That way if you have 100’ cord and only need 20’ you don’t have to unwrap it all.
At last I have found this method again. I first met it many years ago in water safety where it used to be used to tie a lifeline to a lifebelt. One end of the line was tied to the belt and the other to a post. In a emergency the lifebelt can be removed from the post thrown to the casualty, and line would unravel quickly and without tangling. These days, vandals would mess about with it or even steal the lifebelt and / or the lifeline.
Second time I’ve heard that makes since, I always unwrap the whole cord as I hate having to go back and drag more out but I totally get it for something fixed in place though.

My first job was an electricians helper and I've never stored a cord any other way. People that have problems with it generally try unwrapping it from the wrong end!

Dude...you have no idea how much I hate tangled cords, it drives me nuts! I'm going to give this a try next time I spend the first friggin hour of working on my car on trying to untangle a cord that somehow seems to have it's own life. Thank you!
I've watched 2 videos now and they don't tell you how to store the cable. I did this today and now it's really hard to put back into the same storage spot. Is there a particular way?
@@exploringmaine207 yea but you know if you do the regular extension chord roll (which is bad for the conductors) it ends up as a neat bundle. I guess i can put a hook on the wall or something and just hang it up as you say. I tried folding it but it's pretty unruly
There is a MUCH simpler method which works on other things like air/water hoses. Try the over / under method it's a lot easier and faster. Musicians have been using it forever to protect their valuable audio cables. "How to wrap guitar leads the right way using over under technique" should find you a good video on it.
Thanks I checked it out. Doesn’t seem like it helps a ton with tangles but I do see how it increases longevity of the cables when winding with the natural twist.

Ive used this method for about two years now. Works great. I wrap it vise versa since my only cord is 100' and ill unravel what i need.

Fold in half then start at the other end. NOT the plug end. Then you don't have to undo all of it when you just want to use a little.

The.extention chord is still long af with loops, yeh it unwinds well but still doesnt compress it small for storage
