    Great video thanks for confirming that one can use a remote switch (or the app) to isolate the battery. I am buying one now :)

    Ok I purchased a new leisure battery today from my local wholesaler, he suggested I buy the sbp65 but I’m partially deaf so couldn’t understand what he told me about fitting it I had a normal car battery working perfectly but since installing a night heater in my camper van, I work away from home and sleep out 2-3 nights a week the car battery kept going flat hence I bought this 120ah lb today there’s 2 terminals on it and the diagram doesn’t explain properly I’ve installed the new battery and it’s working perfectly however I’m confused about the sbp65 and how to fit thanks again John

    I presume when you say load you mean the power coming from the alternator via the split charger?

    Thanks for this video. Is it possible to read out current (A) from the device?

    • @ukmarineelectronicsltd1597
      @ukmarineelectronicsltd1597  4 года назад +1

      No, you can only read voltage. To read current you would need a BMV battery monitor or a Smart Shunt.

      @bigulicauvodi 4 года назад

      @@ukmarineelectronicsltd1597 Is it possible to use SmartShunt as a BatteryProtect to shut down all current bellow some voltage?

    • @ukmarineelectronicsltd1597
      @ukmarineelectronicsltd1597  4 года назад +1

      bigulicauvodi You can’t use the smart shunt on it’s own, but you can use a BMV battery monitor. This has a relay built in which you can program to shut down a load of the voltage gets too low.

    Thanks for the video I’m trying to find a video that shows me how to install the sbp65 ie do I cut the red wire coming from the alternator to my leisure battery and place the sbp65 between the 2 cut wires can you help thanks John

      Hi John. The SBP fits between the Leisure Battery and the load. It’s job is to stop the battery from discharging too low. We recently wired a classic launch which included a SBP. You can find details here www.ukmel.co.uk/penelope-ii and there is also a link to a video made by Victron which includes some details of the SBP. If you need any more help please feel free to contact me.

      @@ukmarineelectronicsltd1597 thanks so from the alternator I have a fuse then the positive wire running up to the leisure battery via a split charger and another fuse do I just cut the wire put one end into the sbp65 and the other half the other side of the sbp65 into the leisure battery, excuse my ignorance I’m a total novice

      @@johnhayesuk Hi John. The SBP is not for controlling the charge. If you put a power source at both sides it will damage the unit. The SBP fits between the leisure battery positive and the loads. It might be easier if you can explain what you want to achieve, I can maybe help you to figure it out. If you can wait until next week I will be able to do a drawing for you and post it here or send direct.

    This is too short by far. How is it installed, when do we use 100a version and who could read your white letters on white background?

    • @ukmarineelectronicsltd1597
      @ukmarineelectronicsltd1597  4 года назад

      Thank you for your comments, they are most helpful. Good point about white letters thank you. The video was intended as a very brief introudction to the device. We do intend to produce more in depth videos for thoise that are interested in the future. We now have many instalations with these devices fitted including our own test boat.

      @@ukmarineelectronicsltd1597 thanks for answering. Is it possible connecting charger plus on the smart battery protect as well as the load?

    • @ukmarineelectronicsltd1597
      @ukmarineelectronicsltd1597  4 года назад

      @@MegaPummer Hi, no I am sorry only the load must be connected to the output side. Normally the charger and battery would go on the input side of the unit. Attempting to feed power back would damage the unit. You can see how a simple system works along with a schematic here ruclips.net/video/oFFMcYvbYAs/видео.html

      @@ukmarineelectronicsltd1597 okay so that means the SBP does not protect against overcharging in that particular setup or does it, can I control the amount of charging that way?

    • @ukmarineelectronicsltd1597
      @ukmarineelectronicsltd1597  4 года назад

      @@MegaPummer The SBP does not protect from overcharging. It will protect your electronics /electrical system from damage caused by an overcharging situation. You could possibly use a Cyrix which will disconnect if the charge voltage rises above 16 Volts (on a 12 Volt System). Overcharge situations are rare but can cause a lot of damage. If you are looking to protect from an overcharge sitaution I would need to know more about the application. For example battery layouts, charging sources etc. Please feel free to look around our web site at www.ukmel.co.uk or email me directly at chris@ukmel.co.uk
