hello my friends I want to ask you if you want to become a member of my channel
you will participate in some special videos
well it's a lathe ruclips.net/user/postUgkxN9zrzkkhnjUF5PQbuA_B1gYdsfCu9k6z but it wasn't what i would have anticipated. Headstock, tailstock, carriage apron are manufactured from aluminum now not cast iron. The spindle diameter for the bearings is too small allowing for a few play in the spindle so I am using some blue Loctite to take out the play.
Every time I see these marvel reviews I get the yen to get a new lathe but having had my 1930 Colchester Bantam for 40 years and completely rebuilt it they would have to prise it from my cold dead hand now.
I fitted a Pratt Burnerd 4 jaw chuck back in 1980 when I first got it and afterwards a Chinese 3 jaw which still holds work to a thou concentricity......I kid thee not.....old iron does grow on you.
In my country, Metal especialy iron is believed to be loved by spirits.
that old rig of yours probably love you too, good sir. now days they called them machine spirits. how the hell they comeup with that name, sounds cool tho
Very cool, I hope to own one of these some day. Thank you for posting.
Wow, is the table it's rocking around on also the best table?
in Soviet russia, lathe screws *you*!
They are light, requires mounting.
Yes yes yes it is the best table the rocking feature help shake off metal shavings and I’m pretty sure it reduces global warming .🤔🤫😲😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
i like your wobley lathe stand 🙂
I want one of these! It is the perfect size for my needs and appears to be a very well made machine! I am very disappointed that you cannot provide a link but I think I can find it. I am so happy that it comes with metal gears and some cutting tools and holders! I WANT!
El torno tiene buenas terminaciones, excelente trabajo.
We had this exact lathe at work. It took too much tinkering and fiddling to get good results for a professional environment. But I could see myself buying one and use at home, but it's not professional grade right out of the box, imho.
Got to hand it to him he even did a demo using steel stock instead of most showing off how well these lathes cut metal with aluminum or brass or copper.
As far as a mini lathe and quality are concerned this one seems to be outside the norm it looks like it's built as good as it could be for the money. It honestly looks like you could produce a good product with that as long as you keep within the parameters of a small unit and let's face it if you spend 10,000 your not going to get quality just because . If you do good work you can get a good product..
It's hardly a mini lathe. The high price of it shows clearly it is a small lathe and for the price you pay you might as well get a mid sized one. At first I was shocked at the price of it, as mini lathes are ~ $1000 and this is $2500 but I can see it's worth the asking price.
If it were me I'd just spend the money and get one ~$6500 as I can't see point of throwing down $2500 on a small machine but that's just me and others have less space, so to each their own.
It's not $2500. That's the net price i.e. excluding taxes.
It takes a brave man to spin an unloaded scroll chuck up to 2000 RPM, stand it the chuck jaw trajectory path, and then OPEN THE PROTECTIVE SHIELDING... Lovely lathe, but PLEASE stay safe man.
He's an ass, he will feel the pain eventually.
I bought the same lathe from Precision Mathews. They added a quick change tool post and a DRO. Very good lathe, very happy with it.
Are these built in Taiwan as well? What model number is the Precision Mathews you have?
@@RobertLBarnard The Lathe is made in China. Precision Mathews modifies it with upgrades. I have the 1030 w/DRO. It has metal gears, quick change tool post, brushless motor, power feed. I did the research for a month and it was the best for the money. The DRO is the only way to go, well worth it. Have used it a lot for 2 yrs. A few parts broke, Emailed precision Mathews and they sent replacements no charge. At this point no complaints.
@@mvmartin9831 Thank you! I sure appreciate the info. I've been 'think'n 'biut it for over 30 years, seriously researching the past month. I keep coming back to Precision Mathews.
@@RobertLBarnard That was basically the same with me. I started looking at the cheap ones and saw the problems. Worked my way up and kept coming back to Precision Mathews. It is a stout machine. The thing I like best is the DRO. It measures actual table movement at 0.0001". I also have the PM-25 milling machine W/DRO. Just as good.
@@mvmartin9831 How much did you pay with shipping?
That lathe is identical to the Precision Mathews PM-1030V I just purchased. The tool box is also identical and the paint cans for touch up. Only difference is my tail stock and carriage are blue in color. Thank you for sharing your video.
Many machines are same only different is the brand
Thank you for visiting my channel
Can you post a link to where you bought the lathe?
The same lathe is sold under many different brands so while I'm sure it's a nice lathe, it's not German or Austrian but good old Chinese.
Looks really great
Oh boy this fellow sure is proud of what he spends his money on. Good luck with that.
Great, but you need a much much stronger and stiffer table or stand for the lathe.
I'm impressed with the accuracy of the one I have.
Please try to demonstrate "Safe Working Practice" by removing the Chuck Key when not in use.
Not all of your viewers are Engineers & Even I set one going with the Chuck Key in when I was an Apprentice. (Only the once though & Never again)
I once forgot to take out the key out of the chuck and it flew into the concrete wall its stuck in it
Yes i can remember also doing that as young bloke , it gives you a bit of a scare doesnt it :) , and yes , you only do it once .
Nice review of this Chinese lathe. They are very good value. You want to be taking lighter cuts. That is still a small lathe. Industrial lathes start at 600kg or so. My Colchester is 1250kg but small lathes are good for small work. Just take it easy.
Thankfully for your feedback
I have a little metal mill from Bernardo. Bernardo is a brand from Austria (not Australia). Not sure if this particular Lathe is a chinese made or not, but just saying :)
@@sttrife of course it's made in china.. only labeled with a European name and so..
@@sttrife It is, but they do some basic quality control to the machine after assembling it and only sell those complying with the brand. I have a big one from bernardo weighing about 700KG, the standard 165D with DRO and Multifix Toolpost. Bought it for roundabout 4600€ and it is surprisingly good on the geometric side and all the Protocol measurements are correct. Runout is only 0,006mm with the installed 3-Chuck.
@@Gs_DIY_ideas do you know about some good budget lathe for hobby use? something under 800 euros?
At this price point (3200 Euro!) I'd expect it came with a full set of quality control reports for that specific unit.
It’s a nice little machine for diy and hobby applications. The quality seems ok. What most people don’t know is that many different factory’s in China are building the exact same machine. The quality from one to another machine manufacturer can vary vastly. Some manufactures even offer different levels of quality. It’s best to find a supplier in the US who is helping with warranty claims and spare parts when you need them.
It's bench is a good dancer !!!
is there some good budget lathe for a hobby? something for let's say under 800 euros?

Saudações do Brasil !!
REAL NICE LATHE !!!!!!
Maybe you could use the nice box to keep missing fingers and eyes in.
Thanks , Enjoyed, Lookin Good, Later from Texas ,usa.
Have basically the same in my basement at home, a little bigger 650 mm, motor has 1,5 kw. Installed DRO and a adjustable stop for the carriage 20 + years ago. Also has Multifix A quick change tool post and I have a selection of chucks: 4 jaw, 3 jaw, a bigger 3 jaw with removable jaws and a 6 jaw, collet jaw of cause, face plate and a 4 jaw independent. - And I never use it without something installed in the MT from the tailstock ...
i want one like this how?
What's MT?
Excellent video thanks 🤠👍
You have to buy one made of steel !
Since it came from China I'm surprised it didn't come with the chuck key welded to the chuck. I worked in Chinese textile mills and in everyone the turners always left the keys in the chuck. It was very annoying , but no matter how often I explained the danger they continued the practice. 😊
U just have to walk away. I do maintenance, comissioning, installation of machinery all day long in this countries. If I see a unsafe condition I just walk away and refuse to do my job until it is brought back to the condition a western guy is used to. Same with removed guards, overridden safety switches, dirt, junk. They have to pay 900 US$ for one of us per day, that makes them learn real quick...
Doing stupid things cures itself.
It's super easy to forget the key in the chuck. The spring on the chuck key I use probably saved my life multiple times :)
How does it happen that a guy named Robert Henderson ends up working in a Chinese textile mill? Sounds like a good story!
Nice video
I just ordered one of these off eBay should come in a couple days can't wait to try it.
It’s very good lathe you going to like
I have some friends who have their own lathes and the first thing they tell me is to get a quick change tool post and also replace the spindle bearings on day one.
Check out on my channel you will fin a video a make with quick change tool
Which model did you get. I can’t find this one on eBay. Thanks for any input you can help with

Beautiful, Thank You for sharing!

Always wanted to design a Vertical Lathe,
based on an Automotive front wheel setup. Designed for safely cutting small amounts for less stress & basic Safety.
I think I have a vertical lathe. The place I bought it from said it was called a milling machine.
@@bobsradio6025 Actually, a lathe turned on its end is called a vertical borer. We used to use them a lot where I worked before I retired.
@@nickmiller76 - I'm sure you know this stuff better than I do, since I was never a professional machinist. That was just a hobby for me. Not being a professional, I thought a "vertical borer" was a drill press.
The "Vertical turret lathe" is as old as the hills. We had many different sizes in manual and CNC formats up to a 72" diameter bed for machining aircraft engine parts.
I think your lathe needs a decent stand to support it!
Big? That’s absolutely tiny lol …. which is why I want one…
Same basic machine as offered by Precision Matthews in the USA.
those hexagonal tools are called "allen keys" in English, unless they're some weird size for Japanese motorcycles, then they're called "Aaron keys"
Really need something clamped inside Chuck jaws when spinning up the Chuck
So no link, huh?
No worries - I got you covered. It's 2350€ brand new.
For this kind of money you'll get way better machines like this on the used market. A machine which lastet 50 years in an industrial environment won't break in a hobby shop anytime soon. 2300€ is a huge number for a used industrial lathe. You'll get a monster with about 800-1500kg and a 5kW motor for this kind of money.
Good nice mini lathe
Thanks
I would be a good idea to learn how to use the machine before demonstrating it....
I own and use for 4 years a lathe very, very , close to this one. Same parts, same bench, same chuck. Not the same trade, but undoubtedly, it's made in the same chinese factory.
It does the job, but it's not such a high quality lathe. The belt has been replaced because the first broke (low quality), and there is a persistent insulation default that often cut out the electric power supply, due to very bad work from the people who made the connexions inside the lathe. Geometry is not absolutely good. A slight cone effect remains when the part is hold between chuck and counter tail cone : chinese quality, not German, but also low price...
Thanks for this video.
I think you are mistaken.
The company is in Austria & sells ~6 different machine tools.
The Austrian company is a distributor of the Chinese made machine. They may make minor improvements to it and its' accessories.
German quality wasn't anything to brag about until well after WW2.
Your tail stock is off center. You need to fix it.
Yep, it's made in China. They all are. But...
Got a similar Bernardo lathe with mill some time ago. Just for home/hobby use so the size is fine for me.
I have seen some of these other machines that come from same factory/region. Bernardo is an actual brand and it seem to do decent quality checking before the machines are shipped (within reasons).
There's a trick in Chinese industrial production thay makes things cheaper and makes the quality fluctuate enormously. There isn't ONE factory making these similar lathes. Theres hundreds. But there is limited amount of producers who make tooling for the other factories that produces the machine. Like the forms for the chassis etc. That factory sells tools and blueprints to other factories that make the final product. And those final ones can run the quality straight to the ground for price, or actually use it to make a decent product. Chuck some cheap bearings where quality is needed and the whole thing becomes moot. Other way around, same machine with originally planned parts with quality control may be a decent machine. Usually the original is copied from some outsourcing production. That's the danger of ordering parts from China. Same applies to basically everything outsourced from China. It's copied and remade in some other factory with cheaper parts, no quality control bit cheaper.
Bernardo is so stiff about their copy paste friends that I could not get a digital user manual from them unless I took picture of the machine and the serial numbers. Even than it was limited time link for download. But the manual actually isn't in chinglish but decent English (not my mother tongue so I may be a poor judge). I know it's made in China. I know it's not THE best machine in the world. But I am willing to pay some extra for Bernardo doing quality checking and butting their name on it.
Did it come with head stock oil, or did you put it in the head stock off camera?
Ou ! meu Deus ! Ah ! se eu pudesse ! Porém existem coisas na vida que pode outra não pode
У вас прекрасный английский
If you aren't careful son, you just might fuck around and find out that a "mini lathe" can whoop your ass boy!
Where can buy that lathe
Hello my friend, your video is nice, the lathe is very nice, congratulations. Do you understand that it loses oils from the shaft if so why? I would like to get the same but now that I saw the oil I think about it if you want help. Be well And I wish you good jobs. Spyros from London
Glad you have a lathe now find what is chattering means.
Congratulations on your new machine , l also have the same design but different brand name who ships from China just like Bernardo . If you want to pay what Mr Bernardo does , pick your name and flavour with 100 units min order . All are made in China, probably in the same factory or the home lathe would be very scarce . Thanks
... put the sprig back on the chuck key, fool... it's there for your safety...
THAT GOD FORSAKEN CH CH CH CHATTERING!
Thanks
Where in the USA can I find one, what state, I am in California. How much do these cost? Thanks 🤠
He’s from Russia
It's a cheap arsed generic Chinese boat anchor sold under a 100 brand names . I used to buy and sell machinery and these are crap , I'd suggest you buy a older machine like a southbend , Myford etc of quality. Decent older machines never loose money if purchased at the right price .
Geezus... ever heard of cutting oil?
One of the best ?
Do you have used a Schaublin 135 ?
A deValliere H130 ?
Other professional machine ?
Probably never...
This lathe is only a DIY lathe.
A recent RUclips video showed the owner fixing chatter by tightening the fit and gibs in the carriage, slide, and in other parts in a similar lathe. Very sensitive to looseness and fit, perhaps you can locate it by hand or mechanic's stethoscope. Best of luck, you have found a great hobby! SAFETY, SAFETY, SAFETY! every time. Make a big sign to convince and remind yourself!
Muito bem gostei
I need this
can u post a link to where you bought this lathe? or website
Hard to find this one with the extra control features he shows
Where can I buy a Bernado lathe like this in the US?
Great video. Thanks
He can use to regroove clutch bell of motorcycle
You need a more stable table. Everything shakes when the machine is working.
Nice Machine! So I have to be an Oligarch ti buy one!
Oh where do you bouth turnstile, its nice, and who much its?
U need to build a sturdier bench.
That’s one Was study but it was not screw it on The wall

Get it done. It's unsafe the way it is.
Looks the same as any other Chinese mini-lathe, except with a much higher build quality. I bet you pay for that though.
Can you send me a link from the Lathe ìf I want to buy it??? It seems very good quality.
Nice video amigo, thank you
How much price is at available in Pakistan.
what size is this lathe in inchs?
Very nice presentation, good purchase. after you have used it for a while think about how to fix those leaks and shore up the table. Keep up the good work.

@@Gs_DIY_ideas You did choose a pretty inappropriate cutting tool for demonstrating it. That looks like a parting off tool which are notorious for shuddering and flexing sideways causing a lot of it. A decent carbide (especially since you're not using coolant or even some cutting oil) would have helped a little but, best would be a good carbide tipped tool.
@@Gs_DIY_ideas yes
@@Gs_DIY_ideas how big of a cut were you taking dude, because not only did you have the wrong rpm for the job you were doing but the lathe was struggling
made in china? or austrian?
I love it when amateurs bicker over speeds, feeds and depth of cut. 😁
Standing in front of an empty chuck at 2,000 RPM's is not a good idea, always chuck up a piece of steel in it so it won't throw a jaw at you, this would hurt bad and destroy your guard!
Exactly.. extremely stupid. Especially showing it on RUclips. Others might copy the idea 🙄😳
Great for explaining, simple and direct!
How the hell is the chuck going to throw a jaw when it's screwed in that far??????????????????????????????????????????
@@patrickhennigan9689 Agreed. If the chuck is not safe empty, then how is it safe when holding a piece?
That doesn't make sense
It is not gonna fly out
put that lathe on a sturdy table. that one is way too wobbly with the weight of the lathe on top.
ME GUSTARIA TENER UNO DE ESOS ,VIEJITO NO IMPORTA.
I wish they'd give it to someone that knows what the product is called and how it works instead of giving it to somebody that's never worked one before if they really want to sell sell them they need to give them to somebody that knows how to use them and operate them
