  • Paddle Steamer Waverley's engines on departure from Largs, 25th May 2018.
    This was the Waverley's first public cruise of the 2018 season, her 44th operational season in Preservation.
    Note how you can hear the engineers calling out the engine movements as signaled on the Telegraph repeater from the bridge.
    Triple expansion steam engine, 2,100 indicated horse power (1,566kW) built by Rankin & Blackmore, Eagle Foundry, Greenock 1946. Cylinders, 24″, 39″ and 62″, Length of Stroke 66". Engine number 520.

    Amazing I remember as a child around 10 years old at Campbeltown watching this and now I fix large engines ❤

      I could watch this engine when I was 10, 50 years ago, and I still can!!
