I really am impressed with what Shaun, Debbie and their architects came up with. It is NOT over the top, it is NOT over done, it is NOT over refurbished. You can see the Chappel in EVERY room. I am so impressed they did not go mad a restore Everything and also did not paint everything. I love you can still see the age of the building, you can see the character and I am sure visitors from the parish would still recognise "their" old church and also know that their loved ones are neighbours to very respectful people ... because if a developer had got hold of this it would have been a completely different story !!! Debbie and Shaun I wish you many happy years in your wonderful home and all the very best for your next project of the tower !!!
Stunning! Should have taken the labels off the windows before they were installed, though. They are pretty difficult to reach now. The open aisle with garden is divine.
I didn’t expect to love this as much as I did. One of the best church conversions I’ve seen. I especially love the idea of opening up one of the aisles to the outside.
I have seen this on t.v. it's fabulous, the couple are lovely & the church is brilliant. The have put in the hard yards. Top renovation CONGRATULATIONS TO THE COUPLE F.NZ.KIWI❤
Yes. I am sure that they’ve got a long list of projects to do and this is one of them. I built a new home. I am just finishing up the last unfinished parts 6 years later.
I watch a lot of renovations in France. This is such an amazing take of such a beautiful structure. Just lovely. I’ve always wanted to convert a small charming church to a house. Thank you for sharing.
I wanted to ba an architect and love old buildings. This is a beautiful building and a massive project. It is wonderful that this family took advantage of the opportunity to restore and create at the same time a modern home. Surely they will not regret it. ❤
I LOVE it ALL! I've only seen one other church conversion that was As Good - albeit, not As Grand. The ONLY thing " I "would change, is to make the Chancery into a library rather than a formal dining room. A plethora of books; a couple of cozy armchairs, and a thick Persian rug would make that MAGNIFICENT Soaring Space my favourite room in the house- after the Master Bedroom. CONGRATULATIONS!
Stunning architecture! I thought setting the wall of windows back a bit to see the arches was brilliant. I find the cross on the fireplace is a bit much for my taste, but love the other design choices. So glad they are saving this beautiful piece of history. What a courageous couple to tackle this build... and in 2 years. Amazing! I just hope the graveyard residents are at peace... 😉😉
Such an exquisite building. All of the modern walls installed inside the building is a tragic way to renovate and make it into a home. I would have wanted all those old walls to be exposed on the inside. Some of the rooms don’t even look like they’re in an old church.
A great rescue of negligence but that's perhaps where the praise stops. Perhaps future owners will respect the original architecture and work with the vast space more efficiently
Nice job. Would look great with some fine finishes and polish. Rich colors and gold leaf, or gold paint- if it's more budget friendly. Rich and stately like it could have looked in 1840. Shaun would have to lose out to Debbie on having to finish off the plaster work. Best redo on an old church to a home, that I've seen.
What an incredible transformation! A gamble well paid off, for sure. The colours on the walls aren't my taste - I would have chosen pastel or muted colours to compliment the church walls. Then again, it's not my house! One historic building saved for the future. I would be interested in the cost of upkeep this kind of building. Heating, for example, must cost a bomb!
You have done a great job here. If any of the commentators or myself had done something like this, the results would be different, but we didn't! Just a word of caution, the wooden butresses and the top of the exposed wall of the south aisle need to be protected, possibly with lead sheeting. You might want to consider a glass roof over some of the bays of this area, perhaps over the entrance way.
I think the end result is absolutely stunning!.. (has for the 400k budget..I would have doubled that just looking at the enormous space). 'Personally' I do not object to deconsecration places of previous holy worship being used for such things has homes, has long has some of the original features are preserved, which these considerate owners have clearly done. The only thing that I would be uncomfortable in renovating such a property, is the adjourning graves - purely from a respectful point of view ie just ensuring that with the churches new purpose and the activities that go hand-in-hand with a high traffic family home, is maintaining that respect. (But that is just a personal perspective). Other than that, a lot of these renovations of these beautiful built churches, are better in private renovators hands than corporate ones who normally just knock them down (although this one is grade II listed) who replace them with offices/ corrugated warehouse sheds etc. This particular property and it's new owners have initially saved this building that stood empty all those years from the former. And now it has been converted into a family home, it will probably remain so for many future generations and years to come, which would not have been the case if it would have been demolished or bought by corporate developers. People who do such renovations of historic buildings like this one, should be commended. And they should also be 'heavily' financially endorsed by the ' Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission for England'. Because it seems like the 'commission' are getting their cake and eating it, with no expense to themselves!
Love the overall design but feel the interior decorating isn't quite there. Also the fire place while lovely, the cross on it feels a bit heavy handed. I'm a Christian and even I think having a cross as your centrepiece in a church conversion is a bit much 😂
If it was impossible to preserve the church as a monument and restore it, then I think it was necessary to leave it alone and preserve the peace of those who are buried there. Not everything has to be reconstructed. What should become dust should become it. We must treat with respect and reverence those who have gone and become history.
Decor is horrible they should have hired a designer also the lay out is weird . Great that u guys saved it but goshly such corkkky taste being the was previously a beautiful church ⛪️
As an architect and interior designer and a big fan of historical buildings, I must say, such a stunning Gothic church! It's a shame that it has all the ugliness inside, and all they could do is mess it up. I'm sorry for all those who built the church; they would be sad if they saw what happened to it.
Of course the grandeur of the old church will be gone, after dividing the huge space into small rooms, but what really hurts the eye is the kitschy interior and the Ikea-style furniture. Awful taste, right out of a bad interior design magazine from the eighties. Motor bikes in the living room, the terrible oven ... aargh!
putting clear roof over those old wood and stone area? why the giant ugly window/doors instead of matching the style of history? modern stuff is yucky in this historic beauty - seems blasphemous won't the tree/bushes cause ruination to courtyard ground stones and building?

Smashing majesty realized ! This has your combined spirits infused throughout the resurrection .
Ive seen enough church conversions. This is the first one that I would like to like in. Excellent job!
It's wonderful to see a project like this come in on time and on budget. Well done!
Beautiful. Simply stunning. It reminds me of a place where travelling angels pass thru on their way back to heaven.
I have seen this on t.v. it's fabulous, the couple are lovely & the church is brilliant. The have put in the hard yards. Top renovation CONGRATULATIONS TO THE COUPLE F.NZ.KIWI❤
Wouldn't the wooden beams over the courtyard rot because they're now exposed to the weather?
Yes. I am sure that they’ve got a long list of projects to do and this is one of them. I built a new home. I am just finishing up the last unfinished parts 6 years later.
They must be treated with something. There are lots of old buildings in England that have timber elements exposed to the weather.
An elevator for when they get old or move down stairs🙂
I’m [thinking] about the raw edges of the rocks and bricks at the top of that outer wall. [They]need to be sealed and topped like a [roof] ridge.
I watch a lot of renovations in France. This is such an amazing take of such a beautiful structure. Just lovely. I’ve always wanted to convert a small charming church to a house. Thank you for sharing.

Daring and tremendous! Thanks for saving this beautiful structure.
Such a lovely couple!
It’s fabulous except for the red post in the kitchen. I would prefer that it was made to look like one of the old stone columns.
I love the master bedroom and the private courtyard! I'm glad they were able to save the church and repurpose it.
Gostei muito do jardim no espaço veneziano...deve ser super zen....
What a magnificent achievement. You absolutely deserve to soak in its result. I love it.
❤️❤️❤️

Offended by the cross? Obviously, they're not.
@@maggiesue4825 I for one like that fireplace.
The architectural work and choices are stunning. Their interior design skills are letting it down a bit, though.
Great to see such a happy couple.

What?
I love church conversions but the graveyard worries me a bit
Awesome !!! Kudos to you for a job very well done !! I hope we get to the tower redone as well !!
Stunning building but the interior design still looks council!!
Absolutely magnificent !!!
Speechless!!!❤❤❤❤❤
Congratulations on a job absolutely well done. 👌🥰🙏

Possibly have to seal and cap Walls of courtyard but pretty cool conversion
How do they plan on heating the interior?
Wow!
Beautiful maybe built a small kitchen upstairs coffee bar and microwave small ink.

Agreat conversion,i didnt think 400k would do it but they did
with 400k you build from scratch
This is definitely several years old, yet even by the 2000s aesthetics, the interior design is simply atrocious.
35:55 I swear that musics in the Sims 😂
Yep the building/buying mode right? 😂

I guess to each their own, I’m sad to see such modern cold interior in such a historic building. I guess it’s Bethany seeing it fall.
Totally agree
very little, it can be described but visivel to the architecture of the ancient igreja
Stove is odd can you fix the color because it is now the unfortunate feature
The church should have been restored as a church, not as a house. This is very sad.
Very beautiful, but should have put in an elevator. How will you clean it? How do you heat and cool it?
I've wondered about the cleaning as well
🙂 holy house
Two westies!!!!

OMG, I can't get over how ugly the fireplace is.
you are not an architect and interior designer, but I agree with the rest
It's sad that I lost such a big client and won't be involved in your future projects' design. sending peace @@luigicirelli2583
Why make a brutalist building of a Harry Potter like building? I would have made a quirky magical place of it🌲🌳🪵🍄🌛🌞🕯🪞📜
It looks cold and very unfinished to me.

This build is TACKY, TACKY, TACKY. A clothes line ontop of someones grave?
Not a gargoyle it is a grotesque. Gargoyles are rain spouts and grotesques are only decorations.
tragedy
Horrific
I'm sure the exposed buttresses are on the agenda. They're not looking too great. But it's a beautiful home!!
Demasiado dinero invertido, demasiado trabajo realizado para un resultado final tan feo
Need an elevator.

i think it cost to much i would only pay 1 pund
