What's amazing about Billy Connolly is that he never rehearsed before a show. In fact he never even knew what he was going to joke about. It just came to him whilst he was performing. It's all improvisation.
His "An audience with Billy Connolly" show is legendary. It's Billy entertaining (and often annoying/tormenting) an audience comprising of UK celebrities. There are many great moments during the set, well worth watching and prime "reaction" material!
I'm Scottish and my father had a LP of his from when he started. In about 1985 he did 'A Audiance With Billy Connolly' for the BBC its wonderful. His Dwarf On A Bus is a wonderful story and being from near Glasgow it sounds true. His first joke on TV was on a chat show called Parkinson its about a man murdering his wife, that one joke made him.. Billy started off as a singer his song 'Devorse' is so funny and from the early 70's its about a dog. He also did a sketch with Kenny Everet about 2 old lposh Scottish ladys in a tea shop which is rediculous both men dressed up but with full beards. Billy had a horrible start to life but his wife realy helped him. He got into films in the 90's and John Brown who was a Highlander who worked for Queen Victoria played by Judy Dench is fantastic.
The song is "D.I.V.O.R.C.E" and is Billy's cover of Sheb Wooley's parody of Tammy Wynette's song. It is not about a dog but about not letting the dog know about the couple getting divorced, by spelling out the word, whereas in the Wynette song it is spelling out the word so that their children don't know. "An Audience With Billy Connolly" was taped at The South Bank Television Centre for ITV not the BBC. His first film was in 1979 and "Mrs Brown" was his ninth film., so he "got into films" long before the 90s. It seems that some of your recollections, like some of your spelling, aren't quite accurate.
@@JohnHF1957 The original D.I.V.O.R.C.E was a Tammy Wynette song, which Billy changed the lyrics to, so it was now about his dog, chiefly taking his dog to the V.E.T. and what the dog would do if it found out where it was going. It was the only time he topped the charts in the UK.
Easily one of his best! Love how he tells the story in such a different way to how he usually does. I watched it the first time recovering from hernia surgery. Bad idea... As someone who once stood on a Stone Fish at a boat ramp I'd love to see what you think about his bit "The Worst Pain Known To Man". He absolutely nailed it!
You can't go wrong with any of Billy's brilliant routines, and there's plenty to choose from. He's the funniest man I ever saw. Hope your arm/wrist/hand feels better real soon Jodi! 🙋♂
Fantastic I think his best stuff is the last 20 years actually like what you've been watching, even though he made his name in the 1970s, like George Carlin in that respect, great reaction as always 👏
Big fan of Billy, this bit is one of my favourite. Since you started on his content have been hoping for this. Great choice. Highly recommend his "Potatoes of the night" bit.
I've seen him omg don't know how may times Billy is not a stand up he's a purveyor of stories that we can all gravitate to but sometimes he kicks you in the arse to bring you Betty and Agnes every top comic in the word has tried to mimic him all they got was the ammunition to better themselves legend he is the goat
I saw this routine live when BC toured the UK many years ago, my wife was in tears with laughter throughout the whole show, a brilliant observationalist ( if there us such a word) and could create a routine from any subject.
Great reactions to the Billy Connolly videos. You should do a reaction to Billy Connolly and Tom Cruise on Parkinson tv show..its in 2 parts and its hilarious
A wonderful interview called: Parkinson - Billy Connolly & Sir David Attenborough (1998) is worth watching to see another side of him, he says all the stories used in his act are true, but greatly exaggerated.
Just for the record, in his autobiography released 18 months or so ago, Billy said he considers this his best routine. Primarily because of the way he built it live in stage. It started as a small bit at the start of the tour, and reached its full length by the end.
i love billy connolly funny as f the older videos are the best ones nick you sounded irish ish with a hint of never do it again jodi how is your hand doing today
Scottish is hard, my parents are from Scotland (Hamilton) and even I struggle, but I’ve grown up in London so my London accent I’ve got down to a T, perfection 😂
the great thing about billy is that he writes nothing down, every single show is different and made up as he goes along, just the most naturally funniest man ever never told a joke in his life just told stories
Hi guys you want to do Scottish accent listen to the great actor Sean Connery. He did all the characters he played in films in his own accent... never tried to change it and we believed him in every role.😲💓 your reactions and thoughts👍🇬🇧
Billy at his best. How can you make people laugh at a wildebeast being eaten by lions? Blood, Guts, Entrails and Organs flying everywhere? It's in the storytelling. Something Billy excels at! Jodi sorry to see you have an injury hope you recover soon. When I saw you at the beginning it looked like you had a hand in your pocket.😁. There were TV specials in the UK called "An Audience With..." they'd fill the audience with famous people other performers etc and get the "guest star" to perform their act and interact with their audience. Only a small number of people did a second show. Billy Connelley and Freddie Starr are among them. The shows are available on line just google "an audience with..." In one episode Billy does a story about incontinence pants for the "modern man" funniest thing I have ever seen.😂
Your Pakistani accent is improving, but please stop. The English accent is so wrong there's over a hundred and yours seems to miss out on them all. Billy is funny no matter what era his recollections of working in the shipyards are classic.
Just sayin', i hate the edited versions of anything......ru guys doing it just to take out the"swear" words???.....are we 10 or 12 or something ???.....c'mon, that's ridiculous to take the curse words out, nobody else does that.Let me know if you continue to do this,if it's you that did it.
I think you'll find that RUclips are involved with editing the swearing. Also the DVDs don't edit the swearing. But if you like getting stuff for free you'll just have to put up with it.

I've seen INCONTINENCE KNICKERS dozens of times and I still pee my pants. His fart on the airplane sent me into labour over 30 years ago.😂😂😂
Like his stage shows the vast majority was improvised on the spot.
This , for me , is one of his best .

@@Westcountrynordic i think your right, we had it on vid so probably fast f the adds. But my brother and i knew every word of it.

Every one of Billy's shows were different, because he came on stage with no script
Don't talk shit. A new show every night of a tour....💩

Billy is the GOAT!! Saw him Live about 20 years ago, so glad I did!
You're kidding.
The best thing Billy has ever done. The routine is so damn clever.

If you watch more Billy Connelly, you will understand that Billy sees the funny side of ALL life experiences and observations.
Jodi you ok look like you hurt your arm hope everything is good
Thanks, I’m okay. Healing. 💛
He is a genius
You must do Posh Christmas Dinner one of Billy's best skits. 👌
God I love Billy.
the great thing about billy is that he writes nothing down, every single show is different and made up as he goes along, just the most naturally funniest man ever never told a joke in his life just told stories
In his early career Billy told plenty of jokes and then went on to tell only stories. He would occasionally tell jokes but mostly stories.
Reminds me of the Richard Pryor cheetah skit😅

Wow. Jodi’s english accent was great.
One of the greatest comedians ever in my opinion, sadly he is battling parkinsons desease, we all wish you well billy
I'm Scottish and he's the funniest comedian ever 😂
Agnus, Agnus! lol
You need to watch his " Dwarf on the bus", still makes me laugh just thinking about it.
We have seen it and reacted to it. Check it out on our channel
yes... he was...
Most of Billy's jokes are anecdotal, it's been his thing since he was a shipbuilder on the Clyde side.
Watch Submarine Crash.
HILARIOUS
Funniest ex paratrooper on the planet 😂
This is really a Richard Pryor bit
The two are very different, watch the two you'll see what II mean.
@@irbennett I’ve watched both bits a hundred times over. Love both comedians. It’s a Richard Pryor bit. We can disagree.
@@misterc5783 We can disagree, but what Billy does is in no way a Richard Pryor bit. Not even close.

Beige like Megain Markle.
You need to see the one where he discusses feminism. It’s very old now but hilarious
its called obsevational comedy
If your gonna play Billy let him swear away its no use without it .
They have to or YT gets angry with them and demonitieses them.
RUclips won't let them. The way round that is to buy the DVD. Yes, I mean spend money.

No such thing as a British accent .
Stop mutuing the swearing ruins the video
