I don't think he writes at all. He riffs off stories from memory. You'll usually notice he'll start a story and he'll think of another story mid story then another and somehow manages to bring it all back full circle to his original story. He's truly one of a kind.

It was something that plagued him throughout his career. Standing in the wings waiting to go on he would suffer from chronic stage fright. Because he didn't know what he was going to say when he went on. Luckily the stories would come back to him when he was onstage. It can't have been pleasant at the time.

Connolly is a master story teller a wordsmith, were he owns a terrific common vision, when he can paint the most colourful scenes with words. He has also excelled in acting and his appearance was for a role. A great example for budding writers. An eejit is an Irish/Scottish tag for a “nutter”, one who talks out of their backside

In Ireland " an eejit" is an idiot. It's probably true that in Ireland people like to embellish a story, add their own extras to it. Billy's family are part Irish and he has a lot of affection for the people and the place. We love him too. He really does write his own stuff and a lot of it is off the cuff. His wife, Pamela Stephenson is a psychotherapist I believe.

"EEJIT" is a colloquial term used in some dialects, particularly in Ireland and Scotland, to refer to a person who is considered foolish, silly, or unintelligent.
It is derived from the word "idiot." The term is often used in a lighthearted or playful manner to tease or mock someone for their perceived lack of common sense or intelligence. However, it is important to note that its usage can vary depending on the context and the relationship between the people involved.

I find some Scottish accents really relaxing. There's a Scottish guy on here called Big Clive who does electronic reverse-engineering and diagnosis videos. I usually watch one of his videos after work and dinner and I always end up falling asleep listening to him (no disrespect to him, I've told him so, he said a lot of people have told him the same) I have to re-watch later to see the end. He would probably make a fortune doing audio books for insomniacs.

Hi Jodi & Nick. It has probably been explained in previous comments, if so I apologise for repeating this. I see you were puzzled by the expression 'Eejit'.
"Eejit" is an informal, disapproving, and Hiberno-English term used in Scottish and Irish English to mean "idiot". It's often used with intensifiers like "right". For example, "I know that, you eejit!". 😊

He doesn’t have a full script. He actually does make up 70% when he is on stage. Both the Irish and Scots being of the same ancestry, they were originally from an area to the north of Franceand came across to Britannia while there was still. a land bridge between Europe and Britain. They have always been as story tellers and good ones could make a modest living out of it
