Thank you for your insight and transparency... Letting us know that you have successes and failures and making us feel okay when we don't have a perfect Pinterest garden. You are my absolute first go-to for Florida gardening!!! Anybody who ever has a question that I can't answer (and I am by no means any kind of gardening expert), I always say look up Wild Floridian ❤❤❤

So many lessons and celebrations that a comment box can't hold. But we had very good timing with tomatoes this year... So many big ones! Also found the timing for big brassicas! Got one small broccoli head (no complaints, celebrating the success in timing!). And it looks like we might get a head of cabbage😃
Thank you for sharing your happenings in your garden. I am learning a lot, but I enjoy hanging out too😄
    And gardening with dogs...❤️🥰

You mentioned you jumped right into collecting and planting native flowers and plants, but not with a lot of forethought on their habits and care. I am sure I am not alone in stating you have sparked a real interest in me to add more natural plants to my own yard. It is slow going for me, but I am trying to do the same as you, but on a smaller scale. I have fire bush, coffee plant, Beauty Berry, Porter Weed, Starrey Rosin weed, and milk weed is all over the place. I hope to add more specimen in the future, (I did have a few more variety before Hurricane Ian) So, Jacqueline, thank you for your natives interest because it has encouraged me, and I am sure many others, to add natives to their gardens. Merry Christmas!
Oh, and because you obtain chip drop mulch, I signed up for it. The surprise delivery arrived in my front yard in August, and just yesterday I finally got it all distributed. It is a big task, but once it covers all my bare soil, it is going to be well worth it. I'll sign up for that again sometime in the future. Thanks for the Chip Drop info!

Vines. In our 9b yard sweet potatoes wander like crazy, so here is what we did. Cut a big circle area in the lawn, clean it out, amended etc. Then we got a kiddie pool and cut the bottom out and set it into the circle. Wouldn't keep vines im but it made a visual perimeter. Then we got one of those cheap metal arch trellises like from Olde Time Pottery. As the vines grew, we started clipping them to the trellis. It got soooo lush and pretty. Any wilder stragglers got trimmed and I think it made it even produce more. It bloomed like crazy and we got the best harvest we've had. They can obviously handle full sun, but...Florida! so I think being partially shaded by its own trellis helped them too :)

Merry Christmas! Off topic for this video but I too am a Holcomb (I know it’s quite a big clan) and was curious, do you have any relations in/from New England?

I watched another RUclipsr plant a bunch of tomato seeds all in one pot. So I tried it and I always add extra in case some don't germinate. They germinated really well and after they get their second batch of leaves you are supposed to up pot them. You dig out s bunch and run the root ends under water to get rid of the dirt and then carefully separate them and plant them. Well this worked out so well I wound up with 100 tomato plants. It was real easy to do and took up very little room to start all those tomatoes but it was a lot of work on the other end when they had to be replanted but I will do it again this year.

I started in September at my new property. I had never ever grown anything in Florida before. The entire yard was a baron wasteland. I built some shade, a compost bin, and started my journey into Florida gardening.
Your videos have been very helpful.

I moved out of tampa but Hollys Nursery was my absolute favorite. St. John’s, Fl has some nice ones but we haven’t found like Hollys.

I did good with carrots and the little tomatoes this year. Watermelon grew but didn't quite get pink. One cantaloupe and it was juicy but no real flavor. I started all this late in September. Just because, or a learning thing. Now I know! My first in North Florida zone 9a or is it 9b? LOL Well I came from a zone 8. I started the garlic in the Vego. It's similar to the beds you have.

Shiloh is so cute! I also have a doodle garden buddy ❤ I am also training her not to step on the garden beds 😂. I love your backyard garden it is so beautiful and productive. You are convincing me to convert all my wood garden beds to vegega beds eventually.

Merry Christmas. I hope you and your family have a great holiday. My garden is mostly thriving. This is my first time growing lettuce, I've been picking & eating it already, so proud. I have onions planted, they seem to be doing really well. My potatoes & garlic look like they are healthy, time will tell. So many other vegetables growing too.
I've been propagating my wildflower garden. Saw a few butterflies this year. Hoping for more in the new year. Lots of bees & other pollinators buzzing around. Since I started watching you & Petrina my garden is thriving. Thank you again & I wish you a very happy & prosperous New Year.

Merry Chrismas Jacqueline and family! I am having a problem with disease. All my plants look great for about 4 weeks in raised bed and the blight sets in on tomatoes, cantaloupe end up with fungus on leaves where they turn white and have black spots. I always water to the roots and we haven't had much rain at all to cause problems. Like you, I keep trying. It os more than hobby for this retired guy. Somehow, I am gonna figure this stuff out. I love gardening. Thanks for the videos Jacqueline.

Merry Christmas and happy New Year Jacqueline! A lot of trial and error this year. I learned not to plant carrots when it is getting in the eighties or higher! I planted carrots four times and then we’d have a hot spell. I’m also in zone 10a Southwest Florida. Still praying for rain here!
