Well one; fails are not canon as Puffballsunited say. Only the endings. And two, the fails are meant as comedic relief, the ending is meant to make the audience feel a different type of emotion throughout every one.

And did so, and they stopped shooting at him, so I think he would've been able to land the helicopter and get picked up by someone else before getting too injured

I actually think that Valiant Hero is tied with Tripple Threat as the best ending in CtM. Yes its sad, but it was suposed to be that way. It was something that you dont really expect and the music fit perfectly.

3:37 Why did the door randomly close in the first place. Surely Henry could have manually opened it to help beat up the guy that was fighting Charles so they could both get in the escape pod. You can see there is quite a bit of left over time when Henry launches the escape pod so there would be enough time.
True. Maybe Charles tapped the close button? Just maybe. But I still do wonder why Henry just stood there looking upset while he can literally open the door with that precious time...
Or maybe it’s on auto. Maybe that’s what happens in a certain time when their engine or smth smth is sabotaged?
I think that Charles or Henry set it to launch mode until that guy opened up the door and took Henry out and Charles saved him throwing Henry into the escape pod, causing the door to auto close and take off.
