    Havoc is such a low key and humble talent. Alchemist reminds me a bit of him with a similar demeanor and attitude. You can tell they are just about the music and let their music speak for itself.

I remember rappers were sampling Prodigys' bars in songs and using them as hooks. That's how cold the Infamous Album is til this day.😎✊🏾

    I can relate to that "it doesn't feel real", I lost my best friend to suicide and it really doesn't feel real. That's coming from a realist who follows a acceptance kind of philosophy, but it's more of a feeling even if you mentally acknowledge and accept it. It's been 7 years and still can't truly process and comprehend the loss, especially as he said looking at some reminders of the person. For me, as I'm sure was the case with Hav for P, it's not just the fact it was your best friend but it was a bond beyond that, I think soul brother is the only thing that can come close to describe that kind of friendship and bond. So it's fitting then that it does feel like a piece of your soul got lost with them.

    Thank you Sean Bigga for bringing the occasional voice of reason. Names are powerful and there's a saying, "He who names you claims you." What if Tribe Called Quest was named "Thugs For Life"? We might not have gotten all of that incredible positive, true to life music from Tribe, and we could have gotten a lot of violent anti-social nihilistic content from those legends. What a loss that would have been. Mobb Deep were like "Thug Anti Heroes" back in the day, and I watched a lot of shorties try to be like them. I hate to think of how many people might have lost their lives, been hurt, jailed, or had drug and alcohol addiction issues trying to be like Mobb Deep's image, which was shaped by their group name. Even Havoc seems to know that the name that they choose drove the direction of their music content.🤔

    • @sgtcreasegrease
      @sgtcreasegrease 2 года назад +6

      Art imitates life, Tribe calling themselves that would make literally no sense. Hip-Hop comes from predominantly poverty stricken communities, you just gotta take the good with the bad.
      As for the shorties wanting to "emulate," I suppose the only heard the "rock you in your face stab your brain with your nose bone" and "chasing /st. Ides down with some seagrams gin" bars, not the bars about their people getting killed or locked up. They were able to make it out the hood rapping about the hood and making more people aware of the struggles that afflict people from that environment. This is America, after all, this country is not sewn from very many righteous threads.
      It just seems for all this talk about needing more positivity people seem to only focus on the fact that there is negativity rather than having some nuanced thoughts about what is really negative or positive.

    Poetical Prophets was a typical name. A Tribe Called Quest, Poor Righteous Teachers, Intelligent Hoodlum, and a million more names. It's really the brand, not the name of the Brand that launches it. Run DMC hated the name that was forced on them. It didn't matter.

      The older cat I think has Ant Mackie confused with the dude that directed/produced the underground DVD classic "STATISTICS".he had a part in the Murda Music movie as well and had a part in the movie.he physically kind of resembles Anthony Mackie

    I understand too. Imagine me when P walked into the empty Violator conference room I was standing in. One of my fave MCs, straight up legends. I immediately left and gave him the room. I’m half glad I did and half mad I didn’t tell him how much The Infamous meant to me. I often wonder if he thought I didn’t ever care he walked in. If so, I deserve an Oscar. It shook me. It was unexpected. I wasn’t there to do biz with him. I didn’t know he was in the bldg. it blew my mind. Still does to this day.

    I’M SUPER FUXXING WITH WHAT SEAN BIGGA SAID! “THEY MIGHT NOT HAVE MADE SHOOK ONES.” HOW POWERFUL A STATEMENT! CHARLEMAGNE THE GOD ENDED UP WRITING A BOOK WITH THAT TITLE THAT WAS A BEST SELLER! IT ALLOWED HIM FREELY TALK ABOUT ANXIETY AND FEAR AS A BLACK MAN! ON THE OTHER HAND HOW MANY CRIMES WERE DONE WITH THAT SONG IN THE BACKGROUND? HOW MANY PEOPLE WERE MADE TO FEEL LESS THAT BECAUSE OF THAT TITLE AND HOW PEOPLE SANG IT SO PROUDLY EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE JUST AS SHOOK AS THOSE THEY BULLIED? I LOVE WHAT SEAN BIGGA SAID! HE’S SPEAKING OF ANOTHER REALITY WHERE PRODIGY AND HIS BRILLIANCE WOULD HAVE HAD A DIFFERENT REP AND MAYBE MORE IMPACT! WE LOVE WHAT THESE BROTHERS PRODUCED BUT MAYBE WE COULD HAVE ADORED IT BECAUSE OF OTHER REASONS. 1LOVE #KEEPBANGING #DONTWAITTOBEGREAT
