Happy February 2021 everyone! This video was recorded the weekend before last. Today on TrailBlogger I am riding the Yamaha Raptor 700 at Shasta Chappie OHV area again, this time on Trail 17, Trail 16, and exploring a new mystery trail to the lake. These trails are extremely fun on a sport quad like the Raptor due to all the water bar jumps. You have to be careful sliding sideways around those blind corners as there is a lot of traffic on the weekends.
I start off at the bottom of Trail 17 which is also called The Chute coming from the unloading area then I followed the ridgeline up the mountain on Trail 2 and dropped down into the canyon on Trail 16 which is called the Show Trail. From there I made a left and followed Trail 1 up to the lookout. I then came back down the hill on Trail 1 and stopped at the lookout before heading on down the new trail to explore!

I used to ride there years ago back when I had a yfz 450 and a grizzly 700. Great place although I've heard it's much busier than it used to be

I actually a few miles away from here and have drove a lifted suzuki sidekick on these trails and they're so fun
Btw if anyones wondering what they are doing with the hand gestures when people pass by, there telling them how many people are behind them with a number

Thank you this was recorded on a hero 7 and edited with abobe premiere but now I'm testing DaVinci resolve, which is a free program

@@trailblogger That would be awesome! I'm not too keen on going solo these days. I took it for a ride this weekend. After doing the ProCycle carb mod it's surging a bit. Need to sort that out. My dad wants me to buy the TM40 pumper, but it's not cheap!
@@michaelzpalmer Chappie is not the place for sticky/surging carbs! I think we both proved that lol

@@vcr7870 the base model Raptor 700 was $9000 then I threw another $1500 in parts on it, mainly the Fox shocks and Alba arms. about the same as buying the R model but you get extended arms and air ride up front. I also bought the metal heel gaurds off an SE model and upgraded the bumper and grab bars, exhaust, intake etc. All around about 11,000 invested so far.
@@trailblogger one more question I got a yamaha raptor like 04 model 350 it turns over but won't start any ideas that'll help
Check the basics first: is it getting fuel to the carb? Drain the bowl and see if it refills. Old fuel or no fuel to the carb is the most common issue. Is it getting spark? Take the spark plug out and turn it over holding it with a rag with the plug plugged in and the tip of the plug against a metal bolt. Does it have compression? Get a good compression tester and test the compression by turning the engine over with the tool in the spark plug hole. If it's not getting fuel, spark or compression it is not going to run right.

my graadma has 2 4 weelers and my brothers drive them so i mosly just rid but some times i drive and it is realy fun. i just cant whight until i can get my own

I noticed that you keep your nose up while coming off of jumps, does that help control the quad in the air?
Bad habit, i boner air to be on the safe side until i get comfortable on a quad then i tend to jump flat. It is from riding the old warrior with stiff, crappy front shocks because it was smoother to land on the back wheels and let the mono shock and my legs take the hit. I'm sure it looks ridiculous to pro riders x-D

I have these fancy fox floats on the raptor, they are great just not really used to them yet. Id rather error on the side of nose up that too far down and lawn dart lol thanks for watching

While the views are breathtaking, the one thing I would absolutely hate is to keep climbing hills repeatedly. I guess I just get too comfortable on these flat sandy Michigan trails LOL One things for sure, I'd definitely be skinny if I had trails like that to hit all the time absolutely.

yeah, there are no reservations from what i understand. sorry cant hold any spots right now. i wonder if you could just camp in the day use area if the camp is full? might check with the host
there is a group camping area away from the main spot off the river that i think does have reservstions required
you could also check out coram ranch, it is a vacation resort right next to the riding area on the river.
Your videos inspired my brother and a couple of my friends to go ride there. Coming from Oregon & Sacramento.

not long enough lol. they are the cheaper harbor freight version. can measure today. i want to say 5 ft. they are not optimal.

@@leedimatteo5078 I like my holeshot HDs, the XC masters in the same size sit a little taller give you more clearance in snow crossings and deep mud

@@leedimatteo5078 yes I have 22" bear claws on our 08 raptor and they are huge, heavy and clumsy but have GREAT traction for the trails. i love them for winter riding but prefer the XCs for overall handling and good traction. I had a set of the ITP HDs on the banshee when I got it and they sat lower and handled great but were not so good on the clearance, the 20" XCs sit higher I think.
Hey just got my first truck and quad recently. How do you personally secure your ramps to your vehicle while away?
i just have a cable i loop through them to the bed of the truck with a combo lock

honestly depends where you are parked. my ramps only cost like 60 bucks so not that concerned. i guess i have been lucky but never had any disappear. i did have a gas jug walk away one day. i have a trailer with the ramp attached usually and im more worried they will try and snatch the whole trailer lol
really depends on your area but often times i dont lock the ramps just toss my jugs and gear in the cab and go. i dont always bring a ramp though, staging areas have ramps

Funny because Cali and surrounding states are cool with this and legal weed and decriminalization of drugs but yet unfortunately I'm in NJ and get the cops called on me if I start my quads up after working on them. We have thousands of acres of desolate terrain in the pines but if you get caught your pretty much guaranteed to get your shit impounded....tons of fines.....loss of DL and God forbid you have your kids with you then it's endangering the welfare of a child. So sad
there are areas here the same but this is a huge riding area next to a national forest.
