I JUST got the 250 yesterday. Just had the opportunity today for about an hour. I've found that there is experience and practice needed.. Your video was very helpful...THANKS!
Great video, I too started with Ace 250 and the first silver I got with it you guessed it a 1930 Merc! I will have to try mine out again just to recall what it is like. Good choice for someone starting out!
the big iron thing you found was a old henry ford model t engine. the thing sticking out of the ground is a front axel for a car or truck and it looks like its from a late 20's to 30's.
It crossed my mind to go out in the woods near my home, but I thought what could I possibly find. Well you showed me a thing or two. I'm going to try that historicaearials, something else I learned from you. I have an Ace 250, but I'm still learning to use it. An experienced friend is going with me soon, so I'm sure I'll finally get the hang of it, but I need to get a pinpointer if I decide to stick with it. First I'm going to use a poor man's pinpointer, a stud finder.
I have a 250 and decided to go ahead and get the bigger coil for it - Use it as a backup machine to my Minelabs or give it to friends who come along on hunts - Will give the new coil a try tomorrow - just came in today... Happy New Year to you TF and hope to see you out there again soon - keep the videos coming.
Did you ever find out what was on that foundation? and or did you make another video of it. When I go MD'ing in the woods,I usually bring a fold down leaf rake with me so I can rake the leaves away from foundations. Thanks for the videos, they are some of the best on RUclips.
Yeah, the ace 250 is a good machine for beginners. I`m from germany and I have my Garrett ACE 250 since two years now and I found a lot of nice coins with it. Some of the coins are very old....like medieval and roman coins. I love my ACE 250 ;)
Nice Vid I also recommend the 250 to anyone looking to start into the hobby. it's cheap & from watching others videos it gets good depth. Congrats on the Merc HH
Congratulations on your finds and the hunt in general. I have the Ace 250 too, so I'm aware of just how good it is. The F.D.P tag is cool looking. The dog tag is something to remind the poor dog what its master did to it... Ouch!! That place in the woods with the engine is real fascinating and needs further research carrying out on it. I like the Geocache tin as well, never found one but I like the idea behind them. Great video, thanks for sharing. HH :D
Awesome finds man!!! Very cool old place you found!! Maybe it is an old aluminum foundry? You did find a lot of slag out there, and theres a lot of big iron out there.
Hey TF, watched your new vid yesterday. The FPD tag is interesting. I was out yesterday afternoon in the Forest Preserves near me and noticed all the benches, picnic tables, and garbage cans were marked with FPD and most had a 2 digit number on them. Example, F.P.D. 06. Maybe what you found was an old hood tag from a preserves police vehicle. Just a thought. Keep'em comin!
Thanks for sharing !! I really enjoyed watching your video! What kind of cover do you have for your Ace 250 ? I just received mine and searching for a cover to protect it.
I guess you got out after all in the rain. Cool that you bought the Ace out for some folks to see it can get good targets. I like that idea. I think I know this foundation, not positive, but pretty sure we've been to this set of woods earlier in the year, just not right there. Congrats on your coin spill and Quarter.
Nice machine to use, look me up when you want to upgrade to the AT Pro...it will blow your mind compared to the 250. Went to your website, looking for sponsors?
Hey, I'm thinking of buying the ACE 250 and 3 minutes walking distance behind my house used to be like a town with rampart around it. And of course the archaeologist dug it all up like 20 years ago, what do you think are the chances I could find anything in the area? And is it worth the time and effort to just go in the woods and scan the area, as I said I'm not aware what the chances that I'll find anything if I go 'blind detecting' into the woods. Thanks a lot for your help and time
how do u feel about the ace 150, i just got mine in the mail and havent even tried it out yet and then i stumble upon your video saying we should start out with the 250...now i dont know which one to start with.
Hey Fiend! Is there any website you use for old maps of your area? I see you use the aerial fly over website but I didn't know if you knew of a website for maps of your area. Thanks!
7:08 was that a fire hose related to the tag you found earlier in the video? makes me think you were at an old stations and the engine was from a fire engine
Nice Hunt i use a Ace 250 and it works great for me! lol ive got 3 silver's rings one 14k braclett and a 1900 V Nickel. with in 6 month's. well any how HH and have a good one!
dude... I swear... when I was medal detecting yesterday, I found a small box with a bunch of toys and misc items with a sign in sheet. in the middle if the woods. hidden just like that too
F.P.D. = Fire Protection District I think these items came off firefighter helmets. I'm pretty sure 1956 is a company number. Maybe the 45 is a squad. If you are in the Inaja Forest of Colorado, search F.P.D. 45 1956 on google. There was a fire there than claimed quiet a few fight-fighter lives.
Sorry but I just received your comment today. I'm not sure of your question. You mentioned about the Scripture and about wisdom. I know in the book of Proverbs, from the Old Testament tells us: Proverbs 3:5-7 "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; .and lean Not unto thine own understanding. Verse 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Verse 7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil." In Proverbs 9:10 From the King James Version "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding." If you have any other questions about the Bible, feel free to ask. May God bless you love all, sister in Christ
Deborah Bond Thyn own understanding.. If you be sheep.. You sit still you be quite wait listen for my return.. Meaning do not put understanding to hearsay and gossip... Hearsay gossip it is not the seen you need.. No authority in hearsay and gossip..... No authority is chaos... But I thus the Lord your God have given judgment to him,,, He comes with two edged sword coming from his mouth. Meaning he is giving witness to himself being the light of God... Light = Witness I am going away but I am coming back. Sit still be quite wait for my return.. God bless. Thank you for reply.
You may also want to try historicmapworks(dot)com. Another MD'r got some good finds using it. He found a cornfield that once had a schoolhouse on it. I tried using for my area in Louisiana, but so far haven't found anything I can use. They are coming out with an update that may be usefuld to me later. Good luck.
@will0ughby Sorry for the long delay, I use historicaerials (dot) com - for chicago they go back to the 1930's and it has a feature that lets me overlay a 2008 map and the 30's map to get a good location an a specific site, hope this helps bud.

Hey, really did enjoy your video. I am getting ready to get one for my son who has stated he wants to metal detect too.
The 250 is great I am now looking into a larger coil for mine . Maybe that old foundation was a fire Station and they used the river for water ?
Nice Vid
I also recommend the 250 to anyone looking to start into the hobby. it's cheap & from watching others videos it gets good depth.

I would agree that you purchase the larger coil. I run the stock coil and would have missed out on that first spill he found. Great machine though!!!

Yes the coil is waterproof, but not the electronicbox, so you han not dive with it.

I have just bought one and was told that the coil is fully submersible in water up to the control box, control box can't get wet!
Joe Dunlap the main box part on the 250 can't but the coil and shaft can
