    Cheers mate. Wanted to leave a bit of my car for the paint shop to help get right colour (along with paint code). Mirror covers will do the job nicely.

    I just wanna say whoever down voted this video has got no real friends.
    Thanks heaps man appreciate your time take to shoot this video! One question though, do e38 and e39 use the same side mirror assembly and cover etc? Once again thanks the video.

      Antidote Vapes Thanks for your support. To answer your question, side view mirrors are different on these models. 7-series models have a bit larger side view mirror and mounting points are different.

    Do I have to take the entire mirror assembly off if I just want to change the glass or can I just pop the mirror off?

    Great video Man...quick question tho. Do I have to take the interior door panel off before I can access those boots from inside? Thanks!

    Great video bro! I would say that when removing mirror glass only to only prise the plastic black plate that has 4 pins away from the circular inner orbital piece which controls the mirror adjustment and should remain in the mirror body. Otherwise you could break the control arms that move mirror in/out n up/down. 😉

    Bimmermerchant. I have a 2004 525i. However my door panel looks very different from yours. A truck recently side swiped my passenger side mirror. The glass is intact however i do have loose wires. I am looking to do the replacing of this item myself as opposed to paying someone a who lot of money for something that could take me roughly and hour to do. My question is once I get the panel off do I have to remove the window regulator and glass just to replace the mirror. I'm thinking i can just follow video 1 and video 3 and bypass video 2. What are your thoughts? And what if I dont see any visible screws based on the door panel I have? Hope to hear form you soon.

      Great Question. No need to remove the window regulator/glass. Removal process is similar to the video posted. Good luck

    Thanks you for video.But i have a question : is it possible to change non closing mirrors to closing mirrors?

    • @bimmermerchant
      @bimmermerchant  10 лет назад

      E-1000 E.A.D.H You are welcome. You can change non-closing to closing mirrors such as the ones available on the M5 models. You would need mirrors with closing features as well as the module and master window switch. We don't have mirrors at this time but have module and master switch if you are interested. Thanks again for your support

    Before you start to remove the glass out of the mirror assembly ensure you do not have glass with heating plus autodimming feature. These glases are locked inside with kind of clamp which you need to rotate first. As i did not know this difference i broken white plastic part of the mechanics inside by pulling the glass like in this video and other ,,helps,,.E39-2002.

    The mirrors on my 2000" 530d can rotate to the side of the car so they don't stick out to the sides, but one of them doesn't do that so i assume the motor is dead, how do i replace that or do i need a whole new mirror ?

    Just got my first 2001 525. And my first BMW. Can I replace the square mirror with the rounded mirror from a newer e39?

    • @bimmermerchant
      @bimmermerchant  10 лет назад

      Yes you can. Just be sure to stick with Factory, OEM mirrors. If you buy some replicas, they will not fit properly and many functions such as mirror tilt/heating and auto folding will not work properly. First advice to a new BMW owner. DON"T start putting aftermarket parts on your car. Please don't. Find a good bmw used part supplier (like us) and go that route

    My mirror won't lock in the normal position used for driving, but will lock in towards the car and all the way out (which the unbroken mirror doesn't) Any ideas on how to fix this without replacing the entire mirror?

    • @bimmermerchant
      @bimmermerchant  10 лет назад

      Sorry to say but you will need to replace your mirror. As far as we know, there is no easy way to fix that issue. good luck

    My drivers side power folding mirror is unresponsive with mirror adjustments and folding on my 2007 X3. Would you have a video on how to repair this? I love your videos! Thank you.

    • @bimmermerchant
      @bimmermerchant  10 лет назад

      Thanks for enjoying our videos. We haven't done work on X3 models, however, if your side view mirror is acting up, look at the module that controls those functions. Module is a black square box behind door panel. If replacing that module doesn't work, I suggest removing the side view mirror and inspecting it for broken parts. Keep us posted. thanks again.

    if you snip the wires near the plug you can remove the motor you'll need to heat shrink the wires back after and wire are color coated
