No go!
When they poured across the border I was cautioned to surrender, this I could not do; I took my gun and vanished. I have changed my name so often, I've lost my wife and children but I have many friends, and some of them are with me. An old woman gave us shelter, kept us hidden in the garret, then the soldiers came; she died without a whisper. There were three of us this morning I'm the only one this evening but I must go on; the frontiers are my prison. Oh, the wind, the wind is blowing, through the graves the wind is blowing, freedom soon will come; then we'll come from the shadows. Les Allemands étaient chez moi (The Germans were at my home) ils m'ont dit "Résigne-toi" (They said, "Surrender,") mais je n'ai pas pu (this I could not do) j'ai repris mon arme (I took my weapon again) J'ai changé cent fois de nom (I have changed names a hundred times) j'ai perdu femme et enfants (I have lost wife and children) mais j'ai tant d'amis (But I have so many friends) j'ai la France entière (I have all of France) Un vieil homme dans un grenier (An old man, in an attic) pour la nuit nous a cachés (Hid us for the night) les Allemands l'ont pris (The Germans captured him) il est mort sans surprise (He died without surprise) Oh, the wind, the wind is blowing, through the graves the wind is blowing, freedom soon will come; then we'll come from the shadows.
Basically what is sung in french is the first 3 verses of the song in english: "When they poured across the border I was cautioned to surrender This I could not do I took my gun and vanished I have changed my name so often I've lost my wife and children But I have many friends And some of them are with me An old woman gave us shelter Kept us hidden in the garret Then the soldiers came She died without a whisper" However, in the french part, Leonard Cohen replaced the old woman for an old man. Go fugure why it is so, but that's how it translates.
I didn't find any German, but there is a lot French that I don't understand. Something about the night covering them up and hiding them from the Germans, but I may be wrong, my French is very bad.
Stephen Kirsch This is actually French. This song is an old song from the second world war era. This version was popularized by Leonard Cohen in the 1960's (Cohen's music is much better than the original!) In the middle of the song, he kept the original French lyrics. ---- Les Allemands étaient chez moi (The Germans were at my home) ils m'ont dit "Résigne-toi" (They said, "Surrender,") mais je n'ai pas pu (But I could not) j'ai repris mon arme (I took my weapon again) J'ai changé cent fois de nom (I have changed names a hundred times) j'ai perdu femme et enfants (I have lost wife and children) mais j'ai tant d'amis (But I have so many friends) j'ai la France entière (I have all of France) Un vieil homme dans un grenier (An old man, in an attic) pour la nuit nous a cachés (Hid us for the night) les Allemands l'ont pris (The Germans captured him) il est mort sans surprise (He died without surprise)

Danke Roger, Danke Christian.
I really loved shooting and editing that video. Time flies.
Excellent version. Considering Rummelsnuff's stuff is usually comedic, definitely wouldn't have expected this,
Breathtaking
My grandparents gave shelter to two fled french soldiers here in germany. This song is so touching and I think of them.
I have heard many versions of this song but this is the best i've ever heard

Super geiler Song
When they poured across the border

j'ai repris mon arme (I took my weapon again)
J'ai changé cent fois de nom (I have changed names a hundred times)
j'ai perdu femme et enfants (I have lost wife and children)
mais j'ai tant d'amis (But I have so many friends)
j'ai la France entière (I have all of France)
Un vieil homme dans un grenier (An old man, in an attic)
pour la nuit nous a cachés (Hid us for the night)
les Allemands l'ont pris (The Germans captured him)
il est mort sans surprise (He died without surprise)
Oh, the wind, the wind is blowing,
through the graves the wind is blowing,
freedom soon will come;
then we'll come from the shadows.
Thx bro👌

Warum wurde Text geändert in: "In the evening I'm alone"
(statt "I'm the only-one this evening")?
Pffff.. .con esta abrieron anoche en D.F
Einmalig!!!
