02 Honda 2.3 - thank you for your help here. I am having a check of a time getting some of the cover bolts to " seat " and thread start though it looked easy in your video. Tried applying more downward pressure on the VC too. I look forward to more of your posts!
Don't over tighten is the main thing. Them bolt will snap off. I have done a bunch of drill, tap and heilicoils on those motors over the years. The got thing is the bolts are soft so they are easy to drill out with a good bit. My son's car is a 97 with this motor. When we got his 3 of the bolts were snapped off.
Excellent. I'm sure the labor would be $100 to change the gasket. Nice that you remind to be careful when resetting ht e valve cover not to damage the new spark plug tube seals! Also interesting to see you pressure washing the engine. i worry about the electronic components getting ruined, but I know they cleaned mine that way when doing the timing belt replace.
Is there anything I should avoid when cleaning the engine bay with a power washer? I saw you blasted the battery so just wondering if I should avoid anything like the alternator?
You should put in the description of what lube, or spray you are using as people who does not have English as 1st language will find it hard to hear or see the bottle/tube you are using to clean the seal and metal part of the valve cover.
My 2000 Honda Accord after cleaning engine. check engine light comes on every time. O2 sensor code. I erase code with scan tool and disconnect negative battery cable for 15 minutes. Check engine light no longer comes on for O2 sensor issue.
I rarely do, even when replacing alternators and starters (even though in those cases you most definitely should.). I don’t think disconnecting the battery is necessary, as long as you don’t let or or turn the motor on, until your completely done, because, any unplugged sensors may trigger obd codes that get stored and then your check engine light could be on. So short answer. No, there aren’t any wires that should cause any issues. I don’t.

I wouldn’t directly inject the alternator, and definitely not much pressure around the coils/ distributor. Mostly everything else is ok to spray off.

What size socket did you use to set the spark plug seals in? Because I can't get it set evenly with the head
I honestly can not remember anymore. It has been a while. Possibly just take an old one into a parts store and match it up. ?
One video said "1 1/4" socket.
shoud i do Disconnect the battery before i do the Valve Cover replacement?

@@MechanicalTriage ok thank you!
Do you have to drain the oil before hand?
No you don't.
