My IPS has me on a WiFi 5 router which often times my new devices can't detect. I stream UHD TV and computer monitors. I was looking for an upgrade because of buffering issues or "why is my internet slow?" messages. With an upgrade to WiFi 6 there could be increases in my package price to get a newer router. I started looking at WiFi 6E and learned that 7 is available. A quick search for routers brought me to this TP link product which was just a little more than the alternate in 6E. I decided to future proof with this as I am late to the 6 speed to make an update. I found the best price for it on Amazon Canada and will be delivered in 2 days. I'm pretty stoked about it, but your review with all the options and features has left me feeling nervous about set up and function. I didn't think there was so much detail to a router, but you gave great insight!.
@@MariusVerbavicius Respectfully I appreciate that there is no such thing as future proofing with electronics, by the time you get them homes from the stores there are other products available to replace them. I had seen other 7 routers very much more expensive than my purchase, I would not have gone that route if not guided by price. However if 7 is on it's way and 6 around since 2019. I am happy with this one given it cheaper than some Wifi 6 routers available making it one purchase I don't regret.
I've been searching all over to see if this router supported speed limits, since TP-Link only includes that feature on a few models. Thank you for the review!
You and I have very different definitions of small footprint. That thing is huge and the fact the power supply isn't built in when it's so big is disappointing.
The Walmart version is not the BE550. The walmart listing says 1-2.5G LAN port & 3-1.0G LAN ports. All my LAN ports do recognize as 2.5G speed per Windows network adapter settings. The BE550 labeled version says 4 x 2.5G LAN ports
theres actually two versions of this it seems. The one labeled BE550 is full 2.5 ports while BE9300 is the one you are describing in the walmart store. The two look the same but only way to make sure is to ask the customer support or ask walmart to let you see the box. They are showcasing them in the network section of the store at quantity of 1.

using this with Wifi-7 network adapter on mobo. Qualcomm 7800. It connects on the 5 ghz and 6 ghz bands at same time. Your home internet is amazingly slow. Using a 400 mbps service to test a router capable of 6000 mbps is not very useful. You could use a router several generations old and max out your 400 mbps link. Wifi 7 is overkill, as is WiFi 6E, and is WiFi 6. Wifi 5 is more than enough to get those sorts of speeds. You could test speeds by setting up a test between local machines there the router really is the limit and not your internet service. "iperf" is an easy tool to use for this. Install it on two machines and set one up as the server and the other as the client. You should be able to max out the network.
