    Started with the Se/30 back in '89. Brought the first Macs into the Art Department I ran around '92. Been a Mac addict ever since. Currently MacBook Pro '21. Thanks for an excellent video. Quite a nostalgic trip through Apple computer history.

    Bcuz I'm a newbie at Macs, I found it fascinating at the evolution of Apple. Well done & a lot of history. My first Mac I purchased it in October of 2023, & it is a Mac Studio. My Mac Studio is a dream come true! I will not own another Gaming PC, or a shitty Windows OS ever again. I'm in love with Apple.

    The first time ever I used a Mac (on my own) was Power Macintosh G3 back in I think around 2000/2001 in my university's lab. I was blown away how good its UI compared to the Windows.
    19 years later I finally could actually afford a MacBook Air M1 and I don't think I would ever use Windows again. 😊

    Thanks to the MacPlus, I have been able to use computers and actually enjoy working with them. For that reason, and that reason only, have I remained loyal despite that horrible PowerPC thing from the Scully days and the exhorbitant pricing. I still love my MAC.

    The smartest thing Jobs did when he came back, was consolidating the product line. It's no wonder Apple got into trouble financially, with so many unnecessary/redundant models. I had a few used Motorala-based Macs in the 90's, but I bought my first brand-new Mac in the late 90's with the purple G3 iMac. A few years later, I stepped it up and got a big boy... a 1.25GHz G4 MDD with a 17" Studio display. Now that was a machine. I almost cried when I opened it.

    • @macmost
      @macmost  5 месяцев назад +2

      Yes, it as incredible how many Mac models there were in the mid 90s, and each with a standard version and a "Performa" version. And there was no Apple Store or web sites/videos to advise you which model was right for you. So confusing for most consumers.

    I still have my Mac Plus from 1986.
    It still boots in glorious black n white from the floppy disk.

    I've lost count on the number of Mac devices I've owned since 1987...from the Mac SE to my 2017-build 21" iMac still going strong...6 or 7 iPhones, and two iPads. Just bought a new iMac keyboard and a Magic Trackpad which is proving to be a learning curve for me. I've only used PC's when I was working and had to use their computers...I will probably upgrade to the latest build 24" iMac later this year...Apple makes quality products that far outlast PC's. I don't ever see myself using another make of computer...

    Great evolution on Macs. I don’t have a Mac (even though I have an Apple pfp), but I used the M2 MacBook Air at Best Buy, it was one of the best computers I’ve ever used. Very clean, fast, just a huge learning curve since I’ve been on Windows all of my life.

    My first was G3 iMac. It had, supposedly; a whopping 7Gb hard drive that ended up at about 5 usable. CRT and all. Mine was indigo. I thought I was downtown, for sure. Had a sort of predecessor to Numbers that I never was able to figure out. What a trip. Very cool video.

    I've been lucky enough to use a Mac (plus?) in 1987. It felt intuitive for me (I was 23 at the time), but my older colleagues didn't get the use of a mouse pointer right away. Have been using iMacs since the aluminium iMacs came out in 2007.

    Really great demonstration of model bloat during the Scully years. Jobs nipped that in the bud. Looking back, that decision may have been obvious, but it was also courageous and went against the grain at the time. Late '90s was the heyday of IBM compatibles.

    Hi, I accidentally deleted a system folder, using clean my mac, and My mac went creazy it logged me out of apple id and changed my user and wallpaper, does erasing the data on mactosh and re installing the mac os restore it and puts it back to normal? Like reset the system files. It got me nervous bc I got the mac for christmas and not knowing how it works I made a mistake, I erased the disk data and re installed the os, I was able to enter my apple id, but I'm kinda scared I messed up something, does the files of the system reset or restore?

    • @macmost
      @macmost  5 месяцев назад

      no way for me to predict what will happen because it sounds like you have a mess there. I would back up any data you have to another drive immediately. Then try reinstalling the system knowing you have copies of everything.

    I've been smart and I've been stupid. SMART: I've had an Apple on my desk since summer 1980, when I bought an Apple II plus. Got the first 128K Mac in 1984 and many models since. Today using a Mac Studio. STUPID: In December 1980, I placed an order with my broker for 100 shares of Apple at its IPO for $22.00/share. I apparently wasn't a good enough customer, because they didn't allocate any shares to me. I was pissed and never purchased the stock. Today, that $2200 purchase would be worth about $4,200,000. That's life..............

      Compared to what? Other computing options? I think it is very good, but most of security is up to YOU, not the computer. The most secure system in the world won't help you if you use weak passwords or fall for tricks that others can use to steal your passwords. Or if you download and give permission to install bad software.
