I’ve watched ur video on this device myself, but I’m on an old versioning reason I got nearly 20 years ago so I don’t have it lol. The video did teach a lot & inspire me to make a few different nice arpeggios. I’m gonna get this vst. Fugue machine on iOS is a good tool too. I use it in Korg Gadget.

Thanks Oscar, great stuff as always. I wanted to thank you for not only the great EM content, but also the time you put into your video production. As a content producer outside YT, I appreciate the time and effort that goes into all the "little things" you include in your vids. If I can offer a humble suggestion....limit your zoom cuts to places where you REALLY want to add some emphasis. Needless framing changes distract the viewer and take away from the times when you want to make a point. Your production quality and content stand on their own so no need to bump it. Thanks again, you've taught me and many others a ton.

Feels like there is a step missing here. Where is the sound coming from? I know it's Operator, but that was on the first MIDI track before the Reason Arp MIDI track. So how is the sound from Operator getting to the Reason Arp? There doesn't seem to be an explanation of how that "Frozen" clip got from the first MIDI track onto the second one (Reason Arp) and then when I set up the 3rd MIDI track and choose the Reason Arp track as the in, I try to click the pre/post FX menu in order to choose Reason Rack Plug-In, but that option is not available. Can you help please? I'm really want to get this to work as I thought it wasn't possible to use the Reason Dual Arpeggio with other non-Reason instruments.

Great video as always Oscar. Reason & Live is a great combo but don't discount Live's arpeggiator. You can chain several Live Arpeggiator plugs at different values (different styles, different rates etc) and then automate the gate on each (or throw the Ableton LFO plugin(s) and use that to automate the gate of each plug...and anything else for that matter) Can take you really far and can be a happy accident type scenario

Alternatively, try this: In Preferences/Plug-Ins in Live, make sure "Use VST3 Plug-In System Folders" is on.

Spent the afternoon banging my head on this one. Important steps missed out so use this:
Create midi track and add notes, use any sound to test.
    Add reason arp to track
Create new midi track, add your preferred sound
Select input from first midi track and reason rack plugin as per the video
    Select IN
    Play.
The midi info has to be in the same track as the arp or it will not have anything to play.
You can "call" the same arp track multiple times using different sounds if required.

Yeah, I cannot get this working. No sound is coming out despite the Reason Arp track having a chord progression. I have done every step, and I can see that the arpeggiator is working as it has recorded midi in arpeggiated form, but there is no volume coming out when I hit play. Weird.
Update: Sorted. Yeah, imnportant steps missed out. Glad I got it working though by fiddling around and not giving up.

Hello I have been stuck for a while!!! This is what I did
      1. Added a Midi track and added some chords into it
      2. Made a new midi track and added the Reason Rack Plugin
      3. Added another midi track - set midi from 'Reason Arp' and 'Reason Rack Plugin' - set monitor to 'In'
      4. Copied the clip (containing the chords) from the first midi track to the second midi track
I see 2 visible differences between his and mine:
      a) my third track (the one he labelled 'Ableton instruments' ) has a mixer section which is a column of circles whereas his looks like the normal one.
      b) again for the third track, his one says "audio to" whereas my one says "midi to" - I also see his selection under audio to is set to "Master" which is not an available selection for mine
      Thanks!

hello oskar, i have a problem: im trying to route midi from the vst into another midi-channel but the vst-plugin does not appear in the list of inputs. all i see is "pre fx" and "post fx". do you have any idea how to fix this?

    • @OscarUnderdog
      @OscarUnderdog  2 года назад

Did you select the right channel first, and then try that second menu again? So dropdown 1 = the right channel that has the Reason plugin on it, and dropdown 2 = the Reason plugin? And you're using the Reason VST as a synth, not the "effects" version, right?

@@OscarUnderdog thank you so much for the fast answer! its really strange cause i did everything correctly. but my ableton suite 10 version will just not do it. it works however when i use ableton suite 11 (just downloaded). so im good now. but i just tried the same again in ableton 10 and it still does not work :-O

@@OscarUnderdog i figured out the problem! it DOES NOT work when you use the AU-Plugin. It works only using the VST-version. Just in case anybody has the same problem.

Hello and thank you for this great video. Ahhh the Moderat exemple just forced me to try :-)
Unfortunately it doesn't work for me....
    - AL 11.0.12
    - Reason 12
    * creating the tune is (of course) ok
    * adding AL's arpeggiator is also ok and functional
    * adding the "Reason Arpeggiator" midi channel is also ok. I then choose
    - Plug-ins
    - Reason Rack Plugin
    - then Players -> Dual Arpeggio
    * adding the "Ableton Instrument" midi channel seems ok..
-> I can select : Midi From: Reason arpeggiator
-> I can select : Reason Rack plugin
    -> I then select "In"
But...no sound from the plugin ?!
Still the original through AL's arpeggiator...
In your video the "Ableton Instrument" channel has a "MIDI To" while you configure it.
But when you play it is has a "Audio To" instead !
Not the case for me :-(
    Any help ???
