She showed a lot of great options that were able to fill the huge space. Tbh I think she didn't even fulfill the task because what can a super tiny shelf and a craftpaper roll fill of this space? This solution would have been better for a small entry way not for a huge niche like that
Team DIY! That was a beautiful station you designed and built - it filled the space as they asked, saved them money, and in my opinion, matched the rest of their house. The victory was robbed from you this time!
Whattt???? DIY for me!!! It's beautiful, also it covers up most of that white wall beautifully. DIY has soo many pros! Infact I think only pros! Sigh! Nevermind.
I was team DIY again. I thought Dani’s solution was both stylish and functional. I’m willing to bet I have several decades on most of your viewers; I definitely could be a parent or even grandparent ( yikes!) to Dani and Alexandra. I only bring it up because life experience has taught me that things like the buy option here have style appeal initially but a year or so down the line? It will be driving them crazy. The shelf even with the drawer is too small. It will barely hold two phones and isn’t big enough for a tablet. I’m willing to bet that phones will be knocked off the shelf on a regular basis. While the brown paper and iron piece has a cool factor ( yeah, I get it; it’s sexy.), it is so impractical. First who makes lists that big? Really? And do you want to keep writing that large in perpetuity? If you don’t write large on that paper, your writing will get lost. Also refilling the paper roll will not be easy. It will become a chore. Think about how often people don’t replace toilet paper rolls; now imagine having to replace a much larger and heavier roll that’s at an awkward height to boot. I bet they are so going to regret spending so much money on this. I had the feeling that Brandon realized that Sam’s choice wasn’t a good idea. Also, I could be wrong about this, but are young people actually writing grocery or to do lists on paper? Or a chalkboard for that matter? In the days when there are apps for that? In that sense Brandon’s tv idea sounds like a winner. I haven’t seen any good calendar/organization apps for TVs yet. But I’m sure they are coming. You could just cast a good phone app to your tv anyway. It would also be good for recipes. I would love it if Buy or DIY checked back in with their guests a year or so later. I’d really like to know how the solutions functioned over time. Over the years I’ve bought so much furniture. And I’ve had so many regrets. I’ve come to realize that you have to be especially cautious about buying big ticket items that make you feel buzzy. Decor that has a huge wow factor is usually difficult to maintain and just becomes a tedious drag. You should buy that kind of stuff for who you are today, day in and day out, not who you aspire to be.
rtd1791 Everything you said, including let’s check back and see how quickly they got fed up with hiding the plug with a vase, and having no room to use it for anything else.
The DIY is more earth friendly...no paper, nothing to throw away. The DIY provided more space for their keys and other miscellaneous things and they would've been able to fill more of the space, now the space still look sparse. I'm shocked they picked BUY! What tha!
I’m a DIY kind of girl so I normally lean toward the DIY option. And I also think I can normally predict the outcome of Buy or DIY. But I am SO SHOCKED. The buy was extremely overpriced, way too small for the space, and IMO predictable. The DIY was also a little small for the large wall, but way more functional, unique, and cost effective. So shocked. And frankly disappointed in the buy option.
Definitely team diy, but I’m not a minimalist and I would also *never* buy another paper roll once that one ran out. Very cute regardless, but not for me.
Definitely team diy this time! So much more useful, saved so much money and doesn't use any paper!! They're crazy. That tiny draw would drive me crazy. Love the show team, thanks as always!
I cannot be the only one who thinks 9/10 times the DIY is WAY better than the buy. Every time I LOVE a DIY the people pick the buy and I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND. Team DIY for the win.
i feel like the guy totally preferred the diy and looked disappointed when she chose the buy... at 12:50 or something it even looks like he goes "really?" and shrugs. just me? maybe i'm just biased because i feel like dani nailed this one! so many hooks and knobs and shelf space AND that chic black board will be reusable forever and ever. seems more functional to me 🤷🏽♀️
This time I was team diy! The only thing that bothered me about it were the stripes (but it fit the owners asthetic, so for them it fit well) and I would have liked it better if the shelf would have had a bit higher piece at the one end, so that smartphones etc. aren't falling down as easy, when you're using it. I loved the Idea with the chalkpaint and the pictureframe, even if you don't use it for a shopping list you can use it as an art piece and write down an inspiring sentence or something else! 😊😍 The buy was fitting too, I just didn't like the aspekt of changing the paperroll. I really liked the fact, that the shelf had an drawer so that little things are hidden better, but I didn't expect that price! And where the washitapeidea disappeared? I really liked it. 😊❤️ Great done you two! Can't wait to see the next episode!❤️
That tiny, tiny, tiiiiiiiinnnnnnyyyyyy draw is for toddlers haha And I would be terrified of writing on the paper with a permanent marker for fear of it going through and marking the wall behind it. This buy feels all about aesthetic and nothing about practicality. They look really nice together and likely that’s where the cost comes in, from the design not the usability. The diy on the other hand had more functionality, was actually more affordable and still had design features. Sometimes I don’t understand humans lol
I'm team DIY all the way this time. I thought that tiny shelf for the big wall was too small, but the paper thing was gorgeous and I've always loved those! If they could have had Dani's shelf and the paper roll instead of the chalkboard it would have been perfect!
I go with team DIY. This is much more practical and it looks fantastic! The different materials and colours are well combined and fits perfectly in this kitchen. Don't worry, Danie. You did a great job!
I liked the buy. It did fit their style more. I just wish the big roller was on the big wall or something. It felt a little unbalanced with the tiny shelf on the big wall.
Decor is all about the client, so I really like that the diy was their knob and Canadian stripes taste and the buy was their minimalist, chic vibe. The functionality of both was so different and entryway or command center needs vary so much (for example some folks want shoe storage and a mirror and umbrella stands...and they may or may not have a coat closet, etc.) that it makes me wonder how much clients actually describe their needs for this show...I imagined them being interviewed off-camera more but maybe they aren't? It'd be tough to decorate for clients on so little info. Seems like at some point they said they want a grocery list since both gals made grocery lists.
I *love* the DIY, because it’s multi-functional and practical as well as beautiful!! The buy is beautiful, like something you’d see in a magazine, but not truly useful day-to-day. If you had sprayed the caning with water and flattened it, it would have been easier to work with ( but not as funny!)❤️
Team DIY for me for sure! ☺️ It was beautiful and tastefully done and would have looked really good in that space 😊 But, I’m not sure how a buy is a one of a piece, but if they’re happy, that’s what matters in the end 🙂
I’m so confused how that was $350. With a hefty budget like that I was hoping to see a lot more. The space is still kinda underwhelming. Like gurl go to thrift stores and flea markets even T.J.Maxx or Homegoods would’ve been way more cost effective. The space looked good I guess, but I didn’t really get much from this episode 🤷♀️
The cost of the Buy actually increases with each roll you have to buy, which also makes it less green. I would've gone DIY for that reason alone, but the personal touch that showed through mixed with how useful it really was made it more of a winner in my book. That's why it's fun to watch these though, you never know which way it's gonna go. I can imagine someone buying something I always wanted and just setting my heart on it no matter what once you have it in my home. I do kinda wonder if they film it both ways like they used to do on "Love It or List It." I'd probably still watch like I did with that show, but I'm curious.
Team DIY as always, ( mostly), cause it's just awesome. Plus you don't have to spend more money replacing the paper when you're finished with the roll, cheaper all the way around.
Unless that was hand done iron and special wood, I think it was good looking but over priced. The DIY seemed more useful but maybe I have too much "stuff" in my life.
Definitely DIY. I always love the colour choices of the buys, but felt it to be a bit wasteful this time. I imagine instead of the mesh thing, if the DIY had glass board, it would have looked way better. Incorporate the stripes in the chalk marker. Also the would stain was a bit off. A bit of copper tones here and there would have been cherry on the top. Great idea! you guys inspired me. Thanks. :)
This was overall very underwhelming for such a large space. But even more when they picked the buy. THAT was not worth $351, I loved it... but team DIY.
DIY this time, even though I wasn't that crazy about it, I think it should be much bigger to match the space. The buy was really tiny, super expensive and not environmentally friendly. ☺
Team DIY. The style fit in with the rest of the home, fit all the necessities of organising and charging and communication that goes into a command centre. It was personalised to tie into the rest of the home. It took up more real estate in that area, with out detracting from the clean/minimalist look. I thought she nailed it. The buy seemed too minimal/small for the area and way over priced.
I really feel sad for how under appreciated is Alexandra on this channel, hope that you know that your taste level is a gift and that you deserve every win you get... and many more, sometimes the diy gets picked and it's really not good 🙄
Fer Aguilar She won. She often does. She’s tuning into the desires of the client when she wins. That’s obviously a very important piece of this exercise. I don’t think people would be quite so vocal had she lost. I know I wouldn’t. It’s not really a criticism of her design talents, since understanding the client is crucial, and clearly she did that.
It's not really about appreciating someone or not. She didn't make the products she bought so that has nothing to do with her. It's the practicality of the chosen final diy or buy. Yes she can tune into what someone says they want and discern what they actually would like to have and that's talent. However for the rest of us who don't have as much detail (we didn't have access to the discussions they had leading up to the episode) what we know is they needed a charging dock and to cover the sockets. Also a command center. That little shelf was barely holding 1 phone and the vase could easily be knocked off. In a real life situation with kids running around, possibly a pet or even guests that vase is a hazard waiting to happen. At least if it wasn't glass?. That's what most people are talking about. Function and practical but still also looks good. The paper thing will need replacing (if it's even used) and that adds expense and work (which they probably won't do considering they hadn't done anything previously). The roll is also wasteful and not good for the environment. Then to top it off needs mounting each time it would be moved either for a paint job or to another room. The metal part is a finger cutting hazard placed at the best height for a kid or a tall pet. To be honest it seems as though the wife just won this out of spite of not getting the tv she wanted in the first place and u can see it on the husband's face. I would have felt the same way if roles were reversed that the roll was the diy. Considering the audience of this channel, there were far better options.
I think I would have been DIY. I really loved the DIY for this area, but I would have changed out the knobs (pretty but...) to look more like the cabinet pulls, and added more of them. Then in my opinion it would have tied to their kitchen better. Really loved the buy as well, but wow! What a price tag!
My pick is the diy. For me, for the buy, that's a huge waste of paper even though it looks good. And the tiny shelf doesn't work for me. As for the framed bit on the shelf, I like my weekly white board calendar so I'd diy that into it.
Seriously?? $351 for a dollar tree project and a shelf!?
Samantha B yeah! The sorry girls made a DIY very similar to it
Yes! How could that cost so much? HOW?
“That cost how muuuuuuuuuuuch???!” - The Sorry Girls
Samantha B 😂💀
Team DIY here🤚 I would d-i-e if I had to pay $351 for the buy 😬
Saaaaame. A roll of craft paper and a shelf?? Yikes
She showed us so much for the buy and she ended up with that?
The DIY was so much better. I wouldn't have paid $351 for THAT!
She showed a lot of great options that were able to fill the huge space. Tbh I think she didn't even fulfill the task because what can a super tiny shelf and a craftpaper roll fill of this space? This solution would have been better for a small entry way not for a huge niche like that
@@Murasaki_137 that's what I thought. It also seemed super expensive for what it was, tbh.
Team DIY! I sure as hell wouldn't spend $351 on a block of wood and a roll of paper 🤣
I sooo agree why was that $351?!?!? GO DANNI!
Team DIY! That was a beautiful station you designed and built - it filled the space as they asked, saved them money, and in my opinion, matched the rest of their house. The victory was robbed from you this time!
The Buy is "one of a kind". WTF? It was bought off a shelf that probably had others just like it. When you DIY it will genuinely be one of a kind.
Whattt???? DIY for me!!! It's beautiful, also it covers up most of that white wall beautifully.
DIY has soo many pros! Infact I think only pros!
Sigh! Nevermind.
Buy could have been DIY’ed for much cheaper... “DIY for the win” 13:13 your heart is right Dani.
I was team DIY again. I thought Dani’s solution was both stylish and functional.

I absolutelly agree with you

I imagine them with the vase in hand looking around for a place to put it while they charge a phone.
Valid points.
Diy all the way. Btw, $351 for a roll of paper & small shelf??
Lorraine Arcand right! I was like 👀👀👀
The DIY is more earth friendly...no paper, nothing to throw away. The DIY provided more space for their keys and other miscellaneous things and they would've been able to fill more of the space, now the space still look sparse. I'm shocked they picked BUY! What tha!
well, the paper is actually more earth-friendly than the markers.
team Diy... y waste so much paper... amazon is burning Alexandra... Great work dani.. u can sell me the DIY🤗😘😘 anytime
love the series... coral
Diy for the win, for sure. Love it Dani

DIY!!! More functional and the cost was more reasonable. They said they liked the buy because it was minimalist... the price sure wasn’t!! 😂😂
Team DIY. Dani’s design was unique, functional, and didn’t require buying butcher paper every year.
I must say I'm shocked I thought the diy would win because it's charging dock and the message board. The dock had function and color scheme.
You two always inspire me.. Definitely DIY for me though
So glad we could be an inspiration for you☺️
YES! #TEAMDIY
DIY all the way for me. It’s also very adaptable... and replacing that paper roll when it runs out? I’m definitely a write n wipe girl.
DIY 100%!!!!! The buy was not worth the money at all and the DIY had way more function. That was wild!!!
can't believe the buy costs $351 altogether..
Definitely DIY. She nailed it. The buy seemed fairly simple/cheap.
100% Team DIY!! I just love one of a kind builds.
@@DIYDanie do you ever sell your diys?

danie always spends less but her efforts are really priceless. her heart is always with her DIYs.
I'm shocked on this one, $351 ????? . Dyi killed it
Do they do this just to get interaction on the video? Like the more outrageous the price is the more people comment...?
CONSPIRACY
Honestly she just always overspends. Its a consistent flaw. As well as them both going to small in size.
I'm team DIY all the way this time. I thought that tiny shelf for the big wall was too small, but the paper thing was gorgeous and I've always loved those! If they could have had Dani's shelf and the paper roll instead of the chalkboard it would have been perfect!

Oh one more thought, snap a pic of the DIY board. Are they really going to to take that large piece of paper with them? DIY for sure.
I'm disappointed this time: both of them were too small for the big blank wall. Though, buy is more stylish 😉
I really loved the DIY on this one 💕
Team DIY this time. I was actually really surprised they picked buy, they seemed to really love the DIY.. he even said nailed it.. 🤔
There was enough room for all of it in that place! 💜💜💜

Team DIY!! It was so good!! They could have turned around and paid Dani to make the butcher paper thing for way cheaper.
I totally would have chose the DIY! Its one of a kind, super functional, and they would have had over $100 left to spend on other decor.
Team DIY for me for sure! ☺️ It was beautiful and tastefully done and would have looked really good in that space 😊 But, I’m not sure how a buy is a one of a piece, but if they’re happy, that’s what matters in the end 🙂

I love the series B or DIY, it is really funny...keep it up!
Team DIY here ❣️❣️❣️ it's personalized and more functional 👌😎
You can get that craft paper list thing for way cheaper and I know that shelf didn't cost more than $20... Cause whoa.....Team DIY hands down!
Was so surprised, definitely DIY for me
Team DIY, so much waste with the buy and it also reminds me of the paper roll from garden stores that protect your car boot!!
DIY for sure 😊
Diy! Who the hell wants a play school roll of paper on the wall! Dani's was infinitely superior!
Definitely DIY. I always love the colour choices of the buys, but felt it to be a bit wasteful this time.

I am both! I have no clue how you could have pick one..I think they could have both been good in the kitchen.
Both seemed a bit small for that huge blank space, but the DIY is my pick! I really want that "chalkboard" myself :)
I'm for the DIY. I think a narrow table open so the cat or dog has their area would have worked. Then place the DIY.
"teamdyi for sure!!!!! $351 for those 2 pieces?!? no way!!! Also, DYI was functional, cute and personalized... very strange decision...
Dani I loved the 4 stripe design and I think it also could have been corkboard for reminders
Totally team DIY I loved that shelf Dani!
DIY this time, even though I wasn't that crazy about it, I think it should be much bigger to match the space.
The buy was really tiny, super expensive and not environmentally friendly.
☺
DIY! LOVE IT! ❤
Can I have a mix of the both please😃 Can't decide which I like best this time 🤔
Totally DIY
Definitely team buy this time.. it’s a much more minimalist design and looks good without looking like too much 😊
Team DIY. The style fit in with the rest of the home, fit all the necessities of organising and charging and communication that goes into a command centre. I get just as excited for you two as I did for Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones. Great job, super fun!!

Team DIY all the way, but expecting more on that blank wall. Shocked with $351 for paper roll but still love them both :p
