A teacher actually explained to me the reason why Wikipedia is considered a "bad" source by teachers. It's not because of what's written there might be wrong, but because listing Wikipedia as your source indicates that a student couldn't even be bothered to put in the effort it takes to scroll to the bottom of the page and just use the same source Wikipedia used instead. To a teacher, saying you used Wikipedia as a source is like telling them you did the bare minimum you thought you could get away with.

I have the impression you're in high school, and believe me when I say we've all been in that position of trying to spend the minimum possible amount of time and effort to pass so you can go do something you actually want to do. But the thing is, going to different sources to get 2 or 3 sentences of new information you can use is pretty much what research is. My own theses in college tended to comprise 20 books where I'd been able to take maybe 30 lines of useful information from each one, with a lot of overlapping information between them, and that required me to actually physically go to a library and spend hours there. (My Bachelor's thesis was 80 pages long, just to give an idea of how useful that was, but you do have to add your own work and findings as well). 12:06 Okay, armor that's going to be worn by women should have space for breasts, that's absolutely true. However, making the armor *boob-shaped* defeats the purpose of the armor. Specifically, having a space in between the breasts where the armor goes inward, toward the body, will lead any weapon glancing off the armor on the side between the breasts to go directly into the breast bone with full force. What you want is a straight shield that covers both breasts but does not actually follow their shape - the only place where armor should bend away from the attacker is in places where your body is not. Now, in that one single picture we're getting, I can't see very well if these Mandalorian ladies have the gap between their boobs immortalized in their armor because they have something in that space that's separate from the surrounding armor - looks like the guy has it too but higher - which still looks like a weak point in the armor to me, but if that's a straight plane between those boobs without a dip toward the breastbone they should be fine.

This true for medieval plate armor and a metal sword. This has as little to do with the design of a Star Wars armor as the design of a plate armor has to do with the design of a bulletproof vest.
I love Robin's rants about "ai" because he's saying exactly what I can never seem to put into words properly, makes it easier for me to explain to people why I despise ai
@seantaggart7382 see the thing is that what we call ai (chatgpt and all that) isn't ACTUALLY ai. It's not artificial intelligence at all. Artificial, yes, but if it was truly intelligent it wouldn't rely on others to work. It wouldn't need to be fed art in order to make art, or use countless written works in order to talk in a way that seems smart. If any of it was actually ai like what we see in movies, it would be able to properly think for itself and give coherent thoughts and responses, not string together random words that don't make sense most of the time. If it was real ai it would be able to actually replace writers, but it can't
Wikipedia is actually a pretty good place to start your exploration into a topic. When professors say its a bad source they are talking about when it started - when anyone could change anything at anytime - when college students could change wiki articles to win bets when it turned out they were wrong on things (this actually happened at least once because I know someone who did that) - at that time it was a bad source to use. However, its much more strictly moderated these days and such an action would likely lose the entire university's wiki editing access for a while if it happened. Now its a great place to start your investigation, get a feel for the topic, perhaps scroll down and look at their sources to make sure of the original text and use as a launchpad into your topic.
The keyword is "start", when professors say its a bad source they are talking about those who use wikipedia as their entire research. Which is especially egregious when wikipedia itself has sources you can elaborate on...
That also depends on what you are trying to look up. If you are trying to find names and dates, or really anything objective, then it is an incredible source. The more subjective a topic is the worse it will be as a source.
As a Star Wars nerd that Mandalorian one made me laugh. Mandalorians generally forge their own custom armor. They aren't mass produced. It's made by the mando equivalent of a smithy.

20:06 Same for toxic feminity because there certainly are cases of it at times. Now do I know the specifics not realy but I feel toxic feminity does sometimes go unnoticed. Ofc these issues are more complex than what it’s boiled down to but to put my words simply There is nothing wrong with your masculinity or feminity…what is wrong is using said things to push down others and treat yourself as superior than the other and that the other should be subservient to you. No that’s gross any sex or gender doing such to someone is wrong.
This is why I say, there is no such thing as, and I am only using one gender as, let's face it, men get shit on by a lot of society, "toxic masculinity". There is only masculinity and assholes who use it as a justification for their shitty behavior
That reminds me of how feminists are almost always considered toxic... even though I sincerely doubt that all of them are, and it's probably mostly just a loud minority.
Precisely! I dislike the terms in general because they try to force the toxicity on a specific gender or mindset, when that’s not the case. Anyone can be toxic, and there will always be toxic people, but masc/fem has nothing to do with it (unless it’s the off chance they make it their entire personality.. which is equally vile)
yeah , calling stuff toxic masculinity when they never call anything toxic feminity is downright sexism. Which is amusing because the people who call this stuff out usually act like they have the moral high ground when they're just spreading misandry.

10:16 The definition of "Sophistery" is "the use of clever but false arguments, especially with the intention of deceiving." Sooo, think like, a Politician that pushes for reducing the amount of pollution made. But someone says "Well, The Politician always uses private jets. So they obviously don't REALLY Care about the environment." Sounds more or less logical at first, but then when you take into account that the politician needs to go to many different countries quite often and a private jet greatly accelerates that, it becomes less logical. but it still makes the politician seem hypocritical.
2:43 In Germany, where I live, even if you cannot be sentenced because you were so drunk you cannot be held responsible for your actions (§ 20 StGB), there is § 323a StGB, which basically says you might spend up to five years in prison (or the maximum sentence for the crime if lower) because you put yourself in a state where you could not control yourself. Note that for Alcohol, you usually aren't considered to be in such a state up to 2.5 ‰ BAC. In case of murder, you might not be considered to be in such a state up to 3.3 ‰ BAC. 11:54 this is 100% correct though. Women don't need an armor plate that fits their chest specifically. That's an idea created by movies and videogames (mosty videogames). Female armor was never manufactured in history, because even relatively big breasts can fit under a male chestplate
My husband often will randomly just pick me up and sweep me off, he works on his car himself, he was a police officer for 6 years, goes to the gym 4 days a week, runs with me every evening and goes out with his mates for water skiing, snowboarding, fishing etc. He also plays with his 4 kids, baths, dresses, feeds them. He quit his intended lifetime career as a cop after 6 years, because he realised it was turning him into someone he didn't want to become. 12:08 Boob armor is bad because they are dangerous for the wearer. They deviate hits towards the center of the body and make it take a bigger shock. A bigger bust for comfort is nice, but boob armor is not a good idea. (Though this information comes from medieval armor theory, if anyone knows how anti blaster armor works, correct me.)
You said it yourself. The logic of a medieval plate armor does not apply to Star Wars armor. Medieval plate armor design was about turning head on strikes from a metal weapon into glancing blows. It could not stop a bullet. Very little about it transfer to designing a bulletproof vest, other than both are meant for protection.
@@crabfromhell They did forgo sculpting a cleavage groove. This would logically be the main safety and comfort concern, not so much that the chest protrudes slightly.
@@esbenm6544 Yes, that was what I was concerned about. Medieval armor for men already had a protruding chest with a certain angle that deviated blows. For comfort, that is good. The cleavage groove seems unpractical
I’d assume the shape of the armor doesn’t matter, since a blaster bolt is a single contact point of energy. It won’t have tons of force behind it like a medieval giant mace or anything, it just has incredible searing/cutting power since it’s a superheated laser. Considering we’ve seen our mando friends tank quite a few shots regardless of the shape of armor, i’d think that quality of armor (beskar) is much more important, especially when you remember all the storm troopers who get one tapped by a measly pistol even with armor. Quality > Shape

18:04 unfortunately, their argument (all sin is equal) is true, or, from the years from attending church have told me. Sin is sin gods eyes, no matter the severity. It would make him not as equal-treating or just if he punished people based on the severity. If you don’t get redemption, you’re going hell, no matter how small its seen for some reason.
18:09 Robin, you're correct (even though the poster who said that was countering the homophobe) they're not equal in god's eyes. The bible uses three terms when describing those offenses: sin, inequity and transgression. Although they're usually synonymously used, the transgressions are equivalent to felonies in criminal law while the sins are equivalent to misdemeanors (so are ironically considered the least offensive).... Or at least that's how it is in the original language. English works differently, I guess...
Honestly, that makes Jesus saying all sins are forgiven make much more sense considering all the heinous crap I thought that covered. I guess that means murder and such would all fall under transgressions, while minor stuff like eating pork or shrimp would fall under sins, right? I like learning a bit about a lot of different religions in general, and I'm kinda surprised I've never heard this one (though I guess this would be known in most normal church circles, or at least implied, but the asshole types would deliberately leave it out so they can act out).
@@iateitguy903 Just like in criminal law, you can go under this simple rule of thumb: the greater the punishment, the greater the offense. So the transgressions will almost always bear the capital punishment...
Specific denominations interpret the matter differently. And this goes for both Christianity as well as Judaism, though it's rare to stumble upon a Jew as vehemently "My Way or Hell" as Christians tend to be. Also, note that things we would classify as homosexuality (since the word didn't exist back then) are grouped into sets of actions that are explicitly called "Abominations" or "Transgressions"... the worst of the worst of the worst. There's viable debate around whether it's referring to general everyday actions or the actions within a specific context (namely that of sacred rites and ritual worship practices)... but at that point, you're talking about learning one of the oldest languages we have written text for, in order to justify whether or not your neighbors Chris and John should be killed because you looked into their bedroom at midnight and saw them doing butt-stuff. (And, further, if you thought they shouldn't be killed for their butt-sex... you would certainly not need to learn the whole Hebrew language anyway.)

Well yes, but the thing that was changed to win the bet I mentioned /was/ a date so also no, not necessarily in the past. @@ninetailedfox579121

Same for toxic feminity because there certainly are cases of it at times. Now do I know the specifics not realy but I feel toxic feminity does sometimes go unnoticed. Ofc these issues are more complex than what it’s boiled down to but to put my words simply
There is nothing wrong with your masculinity or feminity…what is wrong is using said things to push down others and treat yourself as superior than the other and that the other should be subservient to you.

@@esbenm6544 Fair enough. As long as the wearer is safe and comfortable, it's good armor

@@adrianblake8876 Okay, thanks for adding to that! That's kinda what I figured, and I always did have some gaps in my knowledge here.

Alpha males (wait for it)
Are a lie (big shocker I know) but the funny part is that the whole concept is based off of alpha wolves
Which has recently been proven to be false
It wasn't even all that recently. It was proven false within a decade or so from the time the guy who first put forth the theory. He wrote the book, then realized that he'd been observing _captured_ wolves in a zoo setting & this couldn't equate to wild behaviours, so he revamped his thesis by watching actual wild wolves & learned that they didn't behave the way he thought at all--they were _families_ with a mated pair (or two) female-led packs with the rest of the pack being the adult cubs who stayed with the group, eventually moving off to form their own packs, & spent his life afterward trying to debunk his own theory--still is, really. Frustrating, as fuck. And the dumb as rocks "manosphere" idiots are still spreading the "alpha" garbage even though the theory was debunked decades ago.

17:15 annnd now I am the ass hole, I thought this was her saying that she is something that I can't think of the proper word for that isn't saying she is ugly, normal, or beautiful, to be fair to me it is late for me and I am a bit loopy and didn't hear or see the last part properly so I saw it like a ugly woman who is made herself believe and say she is beautiful although maybe a couple of notches down how extreme it was. It is ok to fuck up and admit you have done so

9:14 we went so far up in the food chain that we had to resort to splitting up and putting certain groups lower or higher in the food chain
14:41 This comment is so funny to me because we straight people seem to be the only major demographic that has never been prosecuted. Every race, religion, gender etc faces discrimination, but there's virtually nowhere you'd be attacked for being straight.
11:35 There are 300,000 species of beetle.
3:48 I was not expecting the Alan wake refrence but I was very happy to hear it.
A lot of “sit the Hell back down and know your place” posts today. Gotta love shutting arrogant jerks down.
