    One of the only times i've ever heard a Citadis at speed. Love it. Usually slower systems opt for Alstom trams, so you never heard or feel them going at their top speeds. They are very capable trams and I hope more cities see that potential.

    It's incredible shooting off along the 2013 extension. My favourite part has to be the tunnel at Leichhardt North.

    In Nice, France (my city) our tram line 2 goes underground near the city center and reach 75 km/h on the tunnels. I love to record it because i rarely take it. They do the exact same sound as there are Alstom 405.

    The original Variotrams used to hit 80 in the John Street tunnel. What speed to the newer trams do there?

    • @artemstransportvlogs121

      Yes, Variotrams used to run full power down there. Currently Alstom Citadis X05 trams running there 60. Caf Urbos 3 usually 60, sometimes 70.

    All modern trams are typically capable of 80 km/h or more but the maximum speed on any system is limited by the operational rules applying to that system, so the trams usually have a governor that limits the speed to the maximum system speed. 70 km/h is a common internationally accepted maximum speed for a tram running on line-of-sight. More important for journey time is average speed, which is influenced more by acceleration from and deceleration into stops and cornering ability, all of these not being strong points for the Citadis which is limited by its fixed bogies and adhesion being only about 66%.

    • @PanosSkarp
      @PanosSkarp 2 года назад

      And the density of the stops and the radius of the curves. It depends on the line as well not only on the vehicles. Im agreeing and adding this. The citadis have a habit of not stopping as quickly as our older trams but our ansaldo breda sirio trams are far worse in cornering ability. They both have rigid bogies but the citadis is 2 meters shorter and maybe weights less but for that im no sure.
