    I'm in Alaska, and brown bears are super common.
    I was bluff charged by a young brown bear. It's still scary.
    I was charged by a black bear and shot it in the head twice, killing it. Black bears eat people.

      Wearing camo pants is important
      it hides the after-affect of being bluff charged.

      Funny, I live in Alaska and hardly ever see a bear. Course I don't live along yhe coast, where most of the bears are. I think it's important to differentiate where bears are common in Alaska and just not blanket statement "Alaska."

    • @JoeinAlaska
      @JoeinAlaska 5 месяцев назад

      @@haroldenglish943 Do you look for them like I do? I'm a wildlife photographer and track them down. I have summers free to do what I want. Cordova near the Copper River and all of the salmon streams draw bears in.
      Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve bears are common. I've been up and down the Kuskokwim River putting 1300 miles on it. There were bears there.
      I've been on the Yukon River and it's the same thing. A bear hangout.
      Kotzebue, Emmonak, St. Mary's, all are full of bears.
      Where do you live that there aren't bears?

    The thing that amazes me most is how quick the bear gets to its victim and it seems like if even if they do have a gun the bear always manages to get to them. Why would anyone go out in Bear Country without a gun or maybe two guns

    I just don't understand why Allen left his gun in his car knowing he was in bear territory; He had been used to bears being around for over 40 years. You have to ALWAYS be prepared and ready. i think this definitely could have been prevented.

    • @10chrissea
      @10chrissea Месяц назад +1

      Imo, which might be dramatic, I kinda of think Allen MIGHT have had a death wish. He said he would have been ok with the idea of this bear killing him or something to that effect. He knew that he was in bear territory & he didn’t bring his gun, knowing that? Thats kind of suspicious in itself. Just a thought.

    I can’t conceive a picture of an 800 lb. bear attacking me or ANY human. An 800 lb human would be a waddling fool but an 800 lb bear is likely in top physical condition, EXTREMELY STRONG, FAST and unafraid. I think the only thing that would occur to me is that my pants were FULL as I died quickly from the attacking Grizzly…

    I find it unacceptable and irresponsible for anyone to venture into the woods and carry zero protection. Unbelievable, no excuse for that. I remember having friends back in the days when I didn't own a firearm my friends inviting me to go camping away from camps and stuff, and my first question was always; is anybody packing? When the answer was no, I then declined the invitation. There are idiots in the woods you also have to be aware of besides predators.

    I'm sorry but this first bear attack is very odd,first of all the guy is supposed to be an expert bear hunter with a black bear tag but shoots a grizzly bear, second instead of waiting to go after the bear he thinks he gave a fatal wound he only waits 20 minutes, I think this guy just wanted to kill something and I'm only saddened for the grizzly sow that was slaughtered

    • @listychick

      he used his hunting knife as the fatal blow, ppl are only human. the bear was ripping him apart and all he could use to defend himself was a knife against a grizzly that is amazing.

    1st Guy, Alberts with Black bear tag. I think he misidentified his quarry and shot the sow. I am not a bear hunter but dang gone nesr everything else. He rushed the times necessary for any animal to bled out. He got lucky for sure.
    2nd Story- Bear protecting food. Those fellows got lucky.
    3rd Story- Living in Interior Alaska just north of this attack, complacency kills. This area is known for grizzlies. No bear spray would've helped. His shotgun might have been his savior but we'll never know.
    Hard to say why this bear attacked. Territory or protecting food cach? Just to the east and within easy walking distance is the Wrangell St. Elias mountains. Lotta ground with very few people. Bear might not have ever seen people before and discovered we don't taste good. Who knows???

    Bear spray is best used for behavior modification, not breaking off an attack. In 1975, a Manhattan hiking club in the Catskills was stalked by a sow and two cubs. Bear spray repelled the sow twice, but when the bear closed its haws on the woman's forearm, the spray was emptied into the bears nostrils and eyes with no effect. The bear was collared with available sling and cord and tied off to a tree, slowing the bear's abduction. The bear was finally finished with a windlass and its jaws broken with hand tools to release the forearm. The victim was a well known television actress.

You seem pretty knowledgeable about bears and other quarry. Would you know if bears see in color or just black and white such as deer? I do believe that he shot a black bear but maybe the grizzly sow was claiming the black bear as her food and attacked him defending her kill. 🤷🏼‍♂️

    Maybe I don’t know for sure, but maybe Brown Bears mate was black Bears. Maybe he shot the black bear and wounded it, and it went to the brown bear because it was the black Bears mate with two cubs, and maybe the brown bear attacked him and tried to kill him, but he used his knife and stabbed it in the throat and killed it. I don’t think a person really has time enough to take accurate aim and kill a bear right off the line. It would take someone really fast to do just that. And I don’t think bear spray really works that good and I think people panic when they try to use it and then they can’t get it to work or get the cap off and release it fast enough. I don’t go in the woods, I have safe hobbies, not dangerous ones, the best thing and the best advice I can say is just stay away. That’s their territory not ours. Thanks for the video. It was very interesting. Have a great day.👍🏼👍🏼 I’m glad he wasn’t killed👍🏼😁🐻🐻

    I wonder if the pucker type candy would do the same too abear what it does too raccoons ? I have bunches of those trash pandas passing behind my house … so close too the city limits that I am told shooting or trapping them could land me in jail , live traps I have too load them drive over ten miles away because less then that they could return . So I tossed a lemon head too my lab and she spit it out and with force ! So we went too fleet farm and bought some super sour balls and took the home crushed them up and put out a few hard boiled eggs filled with this powder , and after 20 mins of side splinting laughter as the raccoons were attacking the eggs like they were bees or wasps maybe .. but the trail cams recorded the whole things lol . A week of putting out the super sour food they left and only passed thru our yard no longer raiding our chickens garbage cans or dumping the grill over . I guess you can order just the chemical that makes it sour . I wonder if bear sprayed failed the hand gun was empty could a balloon filled with the powder would be enough too stop an attack ? When I seen a coon dragging its tongue over my deck boards trying too get that off their tongue!
