    Wow. When I was a younger I was super interested in mushrooms, I always had this idea that since mushroom species are so vast and different that they could all be super useful for everything. But I never got a reason to pursue my interest because I never heard anything about them. Well here we are, proving my 13 year-old self right.

      Starynight scorpio I read professor/Dr Michio Kaku's autobiography and he gave several reasons why he became an astrophysicist instead of a research scientist. Chief among them was the misappropriation of his research. His original field of study was nuclear technology.
      But if I were to become a scientist to go into the field of genetics biology. Specifically reanimation of lambs.

    In southern India (Western Ghats) we used to eat some varieties of edible termitomyces fungus mushrooms which grows during every monsoon season at specific spots in our lands where there is a termite colony nearby. These mushrooms grow out of soil mostly after the first heavy rain (with severe thunder and lighting) after summer. Our ancestors says 'the thunder wakes up the mushrooms from the termite colony'. We used to eat them for centuries and most people can identify which are edible and which are not (by passed knowledge from generations), yet we have no way to cultivate them on our own. Only termites can do that.

    • @ZdenekMicke69
      @ZdenekMicke69 3 месяца назад

      That's a fascinating tradition, and it’s amazing how these mushrooms are so intricately connected with the ecosystem, particularly the termites and the onset of the monsoon. Termitomyces mushrooms are highly valued for their flavor and nutritional benefits, and the way they emerge in response to the rains and the presence of termite colonies adds an almost mystical aspect to their growth. It’s incredible how knowledge about identifying edible mushrooms has been passed down through generations, ensuring their safe consumption. The inability to cultivate them outside of their natural setting makes them even more special-a true seasonal delicacy. The connection between natural events like thunder and their growth is a beautiful reflection of ancestral wisdom intertwined with nature.

I believe I have over the years found many types unknown to science. The one I always remember finding but never found a science reference to is this transparent mushroom, completely transparent, when I picked one I could see the water in the stem, a slight amount of pressure and the water would rise up the stem, you could see the spores and gills thru the top of the cap (amazing memory). I can imagine the process of using mushrooms to provide a Vaccine/Antibiotic for Covid-19 could be possible.
    Please inform the research team about this.
    Mushrooms such as cordyceps and reishi already help combat bronchitis and could be used in the research, judging by their already present properties.

      Vaccines are very different from antibiotics. I doubt that mushrooms can be used to produce vaccines (besides the fact that COVID-19 is a virus as somebody already pointed out)

    • @ZdenekMicke69

      Your idea about using mushrooms as a potential source for treatments related to COVID-19 is intriguing. Mushrooms like Cordyceps and Reishi are indeed known for their medicinal properties, including immune modulation and potential respiratory health benefits. However, developing a vaccine or antibiotic for COVID-19 specifically from mushrooms would require extensive research, as a vaccine works by stimulating the immune system in a very targeted way to recognize a specific virus.
      Cordyceps has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, while Reishi is known for its immune-boosting properties. These effects could potentially be beneficial in supporting the immune system and managing symptoms of respiratory illnesses, but they would not replace the targeted action of antiviral drugs or vaccines that specifically address SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
      While medicinal mushrooms could be part of a holistic approach to supporting health and immunity, the process of developing a vaccine or an antibiotic involves isolating compounds that directly inhibit viral replication or stimulate specific immune responses. This would require rigorous clinical testing to ensure safety and efficacy. Your suggestion could certainly inspire further exploration of medicinal fungi as an adjunct or supportive therapy, which is an area of increasing interest in integrative medicine.
