Always a pleasure having a wobbly pop and watching . I’m not dedicated to any brand but I’m renewing and modifying an 89’ EXT on the slow mode at this point .
Heck of a job guys! She looks great! Likely my favourite Indy of all time! So many unique things to them. If by some miracle I can make it to the Triple Wars I’ll definitely bring my 83 600. When would you ever see 2 of them together 🤷🏼♂️ Ok, I’ll ask the burning question: What happened to Lonnie’s hand lol Cheers guys!
Black Betty, she's a beauty Nutter, loved watching this series, you're a true problem solver, excellent the hose routing. You're an adaptive artist, she's pretty and rips. I learn something every episode. Thanks!
Congrats on creating another trail option! Decisions, decisions... it's the only way to do winter! She is a beauty and no doubt, going to be a blast on the trails. Come on snow!!! Left field question: Where did you find those wheels for the red sled dolly? I want to replace mine with something solid but Fleet Farm doesn't carry a size large enough.
Great job Guys! Outstanding sled! I'm starting to work on a barn find all original 1984 Indy 600 with 1670 miles on it, and I'm wondering what lube you put in the chaincase, and also if you put lube in the drive clutch, like the manual says to do. If so, what did you use. Thanks!
ATF works great in chain cases. For decades 4x4 truck with chain drive chain cases used it. I don't lube primary clutches. I have a tube of some ancient super sticky grease that probably isn't made any longer that I use on secondary bushings. Couldn't even guess at what a modern equivalent might be.
Question? I have the exact same 1983 indy 600 that I want to rebuild. First sled I ever had. Is everything out of a 1983 Indy 440 interchangeable? It looks like every spec is the exact same, even the clutch?
There are a lot of interchangeable parts between those sleds. The clutches probably use different weights and springs, but the clutches themselves are the same. Go to vintagesnow (dot) com and you can down load parts manuals for these sleds and more as well as Factory service manuals - for free. You can cross reference parts with those manuals.
Can't really post links, but go to Wahl Bros racing, Dennis Kirk or your favorite sled parts place and look for the P85 clutch alignment tools. It's the standard 5/8" offset. I'm pretty protective of the Indy 600 and I'm not riding it when I'm in the ditches because of road salt. All of my local riding has some ditches so it really hasn't left the yard. Maybe next season if I trailer up North somewhere with clean snow.

Absolutely!
Black, red and gold.....gorgeous sled!! Can't waite for the Bullwhip....another great unique sled.
Thanks!
Beautiful sled, one of my bucket list sleds. Fall of 82 I remember pulling them out of the crate fell in love with them then.
Thanks!
You can go even shorter on that steering bolt under the exhaust if you use a stover nut. Just sayin. Great work as always.
Good tip!

Thanks Kenneth. That's an Extreme Max dolly. Those are the wheels it came with.

Thanks for getting back to me, really appreciate it. I just subscribed, keep up the good work. Love the vintage sleds.
Do you have a link for a clutch alignment tool for the 1983 Indy 600?
Also, are you going to post any movies of you riding it this winter?
Can't really post links, but go to Wahl Bros racing, Dennis Kirk or your favorite sled parts place and look for the P85 clutch alignment tools. It's the standard 5/8" offset. I'll add -- if you're really not sure which one to get give Wahl Bros a call. Great people! They will point you to the right tool.
Thanks for getting back to me! Very helpful and quick to respond. I joined your Patreon as a thank you.
