    It always amazes me how you can take a piece of wood that anybody else would throw away or burn and you turn it into an absolute masterpiece. That wood is absolutely beautiful and you did a great job turning it into a vase, just stunning.

    As a fellow wood turner I can appreciate the tenacity, patience and skill sets you definitely possess. This project is a great display of turning end grain and having it “turn” out as amazing as it did. Well done sir!

    One thing I have used to fill in with glues and such is a pasta maker. It’s like a caulk gun. Makes life really simpler. Very nice work as usual.

    With that beautiful light wood tone, I think I’d have filled all the gaps with resin (cherry red or Kelly green or electric blue) and turned it similarly. Your take though is a thing of beauty! Can’t argue with that!🤗

    Very nice. I really want to start using resin but have been hesitant because of the cost commitment. I hate seeing so many beautiful pieces of wood sit there not being used because of cracks and void (burl especially) resin is such a nice remedy for that. I think I might try the PVA as a filler along with something similar as your cherry pieces.
    I love your designs. The shape of this vase is perfect. The skill to hollow something so deep with the precision that you do is inspirational. I hope to be able to some day.
    I had some hawthorn from a tree that died a while ago that was much darker( I never realized that hawthorn was also lighter in color). The bugs got to it before I did so it was a bit Swiss cheese like. Besides that it was nice to work with.
    Thanks for sharing!

    Why did the glue cause the wood to start smoking?

    • @VanHorn210
      @VanHorn210 Год назад

      I'm pretty sure that CA glue heats up a lot when it sets. Maybe, because he was putting it onto sawdust, it was able to almost ignite?

    • @MattJordanWoodturning

      Never going to stop some woods splitting when left as logs, even then some woods have a higher loss rate when cut

    Just a random question on safety... The wood is turning towards you, what if it was to snag that tool you've got, could it pull your hand into it?
    Why doesn't the log spin the other way? Surely it would leave the mess confined below and it'll be safer?
