This isn't a skilled trade
Not true. We deal with alot of bullshit in this trade as well.
I don't live in Ontario, but I wasn't off when COVID was a scary thing. I worked my ass off too especially when everyone panic bought just like in this video.
@alexvandenheuvel4757 what college of trades ticket do you have??
It is not a skilled trade to stock shelves and cash people out...... grocery store cashiers aren't skilled trades.....
@@alexvandenheuvel4757so you were deemed essential and had to stay open but now you can strike
I have been drinking way too much. Maybe taking a break from the bottle would be a good thing for me. 😅
Just stop LCBO monopoly
I could care less, I don’t drink. I’m retired and can’t go on strike to get an increase in CPP and OAS to deal with the higher cost of living. Enjoy the picket line duties in the hot muggy weather and no sympathy from the public.
LCBO workers are such a joke, just privatize it.
YOU ARE A JERK AND A MORON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just privatize alcohol ffs what the hell is the lcbo for anyway, anyone should be able to sell alcohol this is dumb.
Uhmmm - Like the rest of the world?
Selling booze isn’t a skilled trade
They're striking because of their wages. Whoever works at lcbo needs to understand that they're equivalent to a grocery store cashier. You are already paid more with better work conditions.
that's pretty dumb = you should tell them that next time you're near a liquor store, then see what happens
@@DaFactsNoNonsense1713 nothing will happen because I'm not only right, but they also don't want to lose their job. Lmao
@@Prediculous you're wrong obviously = Ford's going to "cave", like he always does, when he knows he's done something wrong, as usual = this won't take long to be resolved because I KNOW "certain" people are going to start to complain about not being able to get their booze, then Ford's going to make an announcement, like he always does #obvious
Working at the LCBO is not the same as working at a grocery store. No one would work at a liquor store in Ontario, especially in a big city, for minimum wage. They would not be able to retain employees. It's much easier to work at Walmart, Tim Hortons, Loblaws, etc. and not have to deal with dangerous angry drunks on a daily basis. The small premium in pay is necessary.
@DaFactsNoNonsense1713 if they don't agree? They aint gonna do a thing lmao
PLEASE publicize wage scale for this lot,. Way out of wack - especially management
This is ridiculous, open market like the states that’s what we need you can create more price fairness with this approach.
LCBO has a monopoly on alcohol, enough is enough a
If you want USA privitazation of alcohol, than you must also be willing to accept USA health care!
@@rachelbourne8842 well to be fair we should open an concurrent private system.
Why are we mercy to these public health care systems when many successes economy’s let both exist in harmony.
I get your point tho.
Plus side note im not advocating for job loss, I hate monopolies, and regardless of what happens people will shop at both lcbo & the corner store.
Over 10 years to get full-time that’s insane 😂
Concerns?? Some people have wine and booze cellars, 99% do not. The only concern restaurants should have is if they have enough staff to serve the massive increase in customers.
So buy beer for a week lol they'll go the way of bud lite . If you need it that bad you probably have a problem wouldn't ya say
I picked up a bottle from a distillery in town, I’ve never been to before on the way home from work tonight. It’s pretty good, they might be the new rye we drink at home.
where?
They do really important work like doctors or nurses. They deserve a large salary. Not anyone can run a cash register or stock a shelf.
Sarcastic, try it for 3 hours and you will realize what it is.....
@@nikolinmusabelliu11 😂😂😂 the workers at my local outlet handle it.. as well as lotto, tobacco and general groceries for far less money! Close the LCBO and pay the private sector, where you’re held accountable and paid for performance!
@@nikolinmusabelliu11 I work for a roofing company. I would rather work on a cash at the LCBO for an outrageous salary.
You can apply start at 16.25 $ for hours is going to take you 3 years to get 18$,good luck
In air conditioned comfort
You have to understand they are privatizing the retail, not LCBO never is going to be privatization.
Already sold 2800 new licenses for corner store to their friends.
All the alcohol is still with LCBO....
50 years overdue. Those store managers get over 100 grand a year- plus sick days!!
Way over paid
@@marleyorange
Store managers are not part of the union.
Often they are friends of someone up there....
@@nikolinmusabelliu11 Way too many of them and payed way too much.
Just drive to Quebec. Booze is 50% off there.
Is it not the media's purpose to inform the public of the issue at hand? The facts. Do a little research and publish the wages of this lot. Top down preferred.
No offense Girl, I understand it's the current fashion, but it probably cost 100$ to get her hair that messy.
As one Irish Coworker said back in the day to me, "you could get sea sick looking at your hair". Ah when I had hair....
lmfao first person they interviewed fresh off the boat. WElcome to the new Canada.
Monopoly.
Hahaha good thing I don’t drink alcohol 🥃
dont get it, out herewe got lcbo and beer outlets in gas bars and corner stores, just run by their owners, open every day and hollidays…. we are rural,
Affect or effect?
1) minimize negative externalities to the public, businesses, and consumers;
2) localize the dispute; the government and union need to figure out how to minimize job losses.
show us the efforts, and you shall receive public support.
Would be interesting to see statistics for the number of DUIs and incidents of IPV during the period of the strike, amongst other alcohol-related offences.
It should be looked into I hope that would be good to know
It would be interesting however it will make no difference because even if all alcohol related crimes went down substantially it will still be sold no matter what.
So if they reach an agreement tomorrow, why the 2 week closure? Everybody go away for a holiday??🙄🤔
The union and LCBO both said if a deal is reached stores will reopen right away.
Cuz public management usually take their vacations and not available per usual
Close all LCBO this staf is kiling 100s of people every day
I didn't know lcbo had any full time employees
some managers making over a hundred grand!
LCBO is awfully stupid. The public attitude towards eliminating the LCBO monopoly will only be encouraged after this action.
Couldn't careless , I don't drink,
The LCBO is a monopoly that can’t compete in the open market. That’s why they’re doing this.
Won’t effect most people
1) It's AFFECT, not EFFECT (this is not the first time too!)
2) I still don't understand the reasoning why the LCBO decided to shut down the stores for two weeks.
3) While I sympathize with with F&B stores, their "cry wolf" is starting to become the similar to the story. They're all complaining that they haven't recovered... after the strike is over, what's next? Are they going to blame the diners for not ordering enough (overpriced) food?
It is difficult to consider a news-media source reputable when the copy editing is so sloppy.
The strangest part though is the deliberate choice to ignore the corrections and feedback from the comments section.
It's as though they are adamant in their improper use of language. How difficult would it be to edit an "e" for an "a"?
so they should work for a service YOU NEED/WANT, while making nothing?? Then you go to your job, but won't say the same things?? How does that make any sense??
Supposedly professional writers need the grammar police!! Mistakes like that stick out like a sore thumb!!
Let the market decidd like every other commodity. If it too 10 years to become full time then it isnt a good job to begin with lol
greedy cashiers
Who cares.
It's affect not effect. 🤦♀️
You would think a fairly professional channel like CP24 would be a little more professional with their usage of words, spelling, and grammar.

At least self check out . Have one covid cop overlooking the till
@@marleyorange They have face recognition to verify id
Noone cares
It will save enough money to pave highway 7 Yipee!
We need to accept Margret Thatcher as our Lord and Savior. PRIVATIZE IT.
you guys stock shelves with alcohol and cash people out like a cashier. I don’t understand why you think you’re gonna make a liveable wage with that kind of a job. You guys did nothing with you’re life that’s why you work there but expect you deserve a liveable wage like other people that have actually grinned hard bums fire them there’s lots of people out there that would love to work there
Was out when I heard about the strike, so I went to my local Metro that, surprise, doesn’t sell liquor. I called another Metro in the area which also doesn’t sell any. They told me to check stores all over the city…like I’ve got time to do that.
And no, The Beer Store isn’t an option.
