Amazingly, a friend of ours did her knee at almost the same spot (frog flats) during our winter hike in 2012. We had to carry her all the way to New Pelion, well into the night before she took the same chopper ride to Hobart the next day. We had to climb Pelion East for phone reception that morning. I slept well that night.. 😵
@geoffson2wheels , wow. Frog Flats packs a punch eh? We met a guy at New Pelion who did his ankle at Frog Flats and was airlifted out as well. That was 2 years to the day of our mis-adventure. Thanks for watching.
Glad you liked the video Harvey. I'm coming up to my 2 year anniversary (next month), and we'll be heading back to the OT to complete what we couldn't on our last attempt. Knee is holding up fine nowadays.
Yeah, it was really disappointing for sure. But accidents happen, there was nothing we could do about it. But we'll be back to complete what we started soon enough.
Hi Barry, the Rescue guys allowed my wife to be flown out with me. As there was enough room on the day in the helicopter - given that they knew where I was, they didn't have to load the helicopter up with additional emergency equipment when coming to get me.
It's actually one of the common misconceptions around the Tasmanian helicopter rescue / evacuations - in Tasmania at least. This extraordinary service is provided free of charge. No-one has ever had to pay to be rescued in Tasmania. Hence why we are now heavily involved in raising funds for these guys. Amazing group of people.

Poor uncle Davey wavey. Hope your knee is getting better every minute. Love all your vlogs especially the one you put up today with the helicopter
What an adventure! How long was the chopper flight to Hobart?
It sure was Tony. The flight back to Hobart took just under an hour. In pilot talk, it was a flight time of 0.92. Thanks for watching.
Great story. Enjoyed your watching your adventure. Did your wifey walk out or did she catch a ride?
