Lol, you have to greatest eyes in history to see that. And for your eyes to be better than the underwater view and the timing technology, you are sir... simply amazing. You have Superman eyes.
Cavic is a machine but Michael was better today. Their rivalry is awesome for the sport. It's gonna be interesting next year when they face each other without NO HIGH TECH SUITS. Michael rules.
I agree with you... Because Cavic is underwater you can't see him touch as fast when phelps swings his arms over right into the wall almost the same time but quicker!!!
Let me teach you about some other things you do not know about: If you did not know Omega produces one of the most well-known and recognized watches in the world.Omega has been the official timekeeping device of the Olympic Games since 1932.And Omega is located in Bienne,Switzerland. And that guy with the "dumb" accent is Swiss. But I guess now that we determined that Swiss have dumb English accents, that disqualifies his from the further discussion right? :)) I just love your comments.Cheers mate
Very good point BLue... excellent point... Phelps was NOT as rested as all these other swimmers were walking on deck...and STILL he won! :) he's amazing
I was kinda disappointed that Ian didn't get to medal in this event. It left me wondering why he seemed slow during the Olympics. I hope he gets back to form come Worlds.
okay first problem with the video the pictures were upside down and Cavics hands were NOT on the wall so this it was not the actual snapshot of the finish until both players are on the wall.2nd the guy in the video was the general manager. he had nothing to do with inventing or making the touch pad all he does is keep things in line from what ive researched and last of all Cavic is wearing a fullbody suit( is now illegal) witch takes off a full second of your time phelps wasnt so he still won.
no this video was uploaded by a youtube user. it was recorded by the official Olympic recording staff, this was also the same footage of when it actually happened lol i still have it on my DVR lol it was recorded in real time durpuhdurp and uover all micheal phelps still has that medal and the Olympics hasnt taken it away from him because he won but im not joking this time lets just end the argument at that cause because arguing over youtube is just annoying bye.
oh ya mate..anytime.. oh in the 50.. Cavic SMOKES phelps..LOL and you can even see in this race here how Cav's first 50 was blazing!!!! I just can't imagine what was going thru Phelps mind at the 75 mark when he turned on his burners to come in.. that kid was digging deep! LOLOL cheers bro
In an interview with Anderson Cooper he was asked how he did it and when he looked at the freeze frame shot he said that because Cavic lifted his head up before he touched the wall he slowed himself down acting as a buffer to himself meaning phelps (who kept his head down) got that golden opportunity of a tiny portion of a second to pull into first because he was streamline...so if Cavic hadn't have lifted his head Michael Phelps would not have won that medal.
matter of opinion.. i like to go based on what my eyes see in this video here.. yes he is an amazing swimmer, but as they say.. "on the day the best man wins." :) and on THIS day here, in this video, Phelps wins..and he walked away with history wrapped around his neck, which equals "best" to me :) can't top that. :) again..cavic.. badass swimmer.. not taking away from him
very nice. there was a kid on here ( not this vid but on youtube) that tried to tell me that Cavic didnt hit the pad hard enough, but it stopped the clock didnt it? if he didnt hit it hard enough, he would have had to hit the pad again. then there could be a legit dispute
not going to lie that race was REALLLYYY close like probably by 0.000001 seconds phelps won.. i would consider that a tie to be honest but phelps is a great athlete and definitely deserves a lot of praise i am swimmer myself so i know hard it is to even come close to phelps
but you see if you hit the touch pad harder, with more speed, your time will go in quicker than if you glide in, like cavic did. he might have touched first but maybe he just touched slightly, then a millisecond later, he REALLY touched hard, and only then his time goes through, when phelps has already gone through beacause of his hard finish :)
with results that close, seems like if one sensor is not precisely (I mean to the micrometer) flush with the next one, it could affect the results of the race.
Everyone knew Phelps has to win that race, one way or another, he need it, for his 8 gold and beating the Mark Spitz record of 7 gold medals on one Olympic games. Omega watches - which is official touchpad producer and time measurer for the Olympics is also a Phelps sponsor, which is illegal, but hey nobody cares. In the end maybe the Omega should rename it's touchpads into the "pushpads" as we see it is not enough to just touch it and get there first.
@graviteownage Sorry pal, but the pads have a sensor to determine first touch. Cavic saw he was ahead a made the mistake of thinking it was all over. Same thing happened to Biondi in Seoul when Anthony Nesty defeated him. Biondi just reached at the end same as Cavic while Nesty took and aditional stroke
We are not arguing if he is better swimmer or not. Of course he is. Read my first topic once again. We are arguing whether he won or not. The video you are talking about has not official marks on it what so ever. It was uploaded by some regular youtube user, it is not a video from the official Olympic games timekeeping website. So it can be edited and altered any time, with no consequences. But the video I showed you is from the OFFICIAL OLYMPIC GAMES TIMEKEEPING DEVICE COMPANY. ...
lol. crocker has the best start out of everyone. look at the slow motion of the start in 4:53. he beasted on them on the start. but he lost ground on the rest of the race.
hahaha y dicen que no es el mejor, ahora ya tiene 27 años y solo a ganado 3 medallas en Londres, pero definitivamente el mejor nadador olímpico de todos los tiempos, es un bicho este tipo...
Doesn't matter the sport, doesn't matter the circumstance but this is without doubt the greatest race of all time, bravo Michael simply sensational.
Cavic touched the pressure plate first, but not hard enough for it to register. He glided in, Michael powered in. That was the difference.
5:45
Difference between 1st and 2nd place-0.01sec
Difference between 3rd and 4th place -0.01 sec
0.01 with 1st and 2nd, and 0.01 with 3rd and 4th. WHAT A RACE!
Cavic sets the 90m world record again
Cavic is the best swimmer ever!
thank them both for putting up one of the greatest swimming race in history!
Lol, you have to greatest eyes in history to see that. And for your eyes to be better than the underwater view and the timing technology, you are sir... simply amazing. You have Superman eyes.

This is spectacular! It is the best race in history certainly.
the coming back of phelps was uncredible !! he didn't give up ! thats the real champion !
i see this video and i know that this already happened but i can see over and over again and feel excited
This is getting better and better each time mate!!!
I love your comments :D
I was kinda disappointed that Ian didn't get to medal in this event. It left me wondering why he seemed slow during the Olympics. I hope he gets back to form come Worlds.
ur an american hero phelps, keep it up.
What an incredible race. Lost in the shuffle was the fact that Crocker barely missed the bronze by one hundred of a second also.
before these olympics phelps was nothing and now he's a legend
Čavić haven't got luck. Čavić is number one!
okay first problem with the video the pictures were upside down and Cavics hands were NOT on the wall so this it was not the actual snapshot of the finish until both players are on the wall.2nd the guy in the video was the general manager. he had nothing to do with inventing or making the touch pad all he does is keep things in line from what ive researched and last of all Cavic is wearing a fullbody suit( is now illegal) witch takes off a full second of your time phelps wasnt so he still won.
Phelps is such an inspiration...wow:) amazing man:D

great Video! Great Quality! :D
Keep on, making videos in! :)

yeeeeeeeees phelps won vs cavic here in roma....the god of the swim
Michael Phelps you are absolutely invencible!!!!
but you see if you hit the touch pad harder, with more speed, your time will go in quicker than if you glide in, like cavic did. he might have touched first but maybe he just touched slightly, then a millisecond later, he REALLY touched hard, and only then his time goes through, when phelps has already gone through beacause of his hard finish :)

I knowwwww!!!! I'm so happy right now!
Cant believe it! I think he almost lost but he still got the 1st place.
thank you :)
Everyone knew Phelps has to win that race, one way or another, he need it, for his 8 gold and beating the Mark Spitz record of 7 gold medals on one Olympic games.

luck? screw luck! this guy is the greatest athlete the world has ever known!
Ian Crocker is absolutely superior when it comes to starts and breakouts. His dolphin kicks probably better than Phelps. Which is surprising :O
@graviteownage Sorry pal, but the pads have a sensor to determine first touch. Cavic saw he was ahead a made the mistake of thinking it was all over. Same thing happened to Biondi in Seoul when Anthony Nesty defeated him. Biondi just reached at the end same as Cavic while Nesty took and aditional stroke
que video espectacular!!!!!!!!
But either way I love this man and I'm glad it went that way for him :) he's very worthy of it all :)
michael phelps king.long live the king

Wow I love michael phelps.
wow i am still fasinated! wow i couldnt help but jumping up when he won
its the best! of the best !
i miss the olympics
Phelps won. Stop arguing. His fingers were clearly the first one's on the wall. Cavic lifted his head and cost him the gold medal
We are not arguing if he is better swimmer or not. Of course he is.
Read my first topic once again.
We are arguing whether he won or not.

...
Michael Phelps had water in his goggles when he dived in.
at 5:12 is that Phelps touched with a hand ... therefore it is not even disqualification and would not reach the second
look weel
Amazing!
es el mejor del mundo en natacion
is incredible. many
thanks..
I will raise some more. Bye
I'm sure, that CAVIC is the winner! Vive la Serbia!
Can Phelps do the same later on today? I REALLY HOPE SO!!!!
what does OR mean next to Phelp's time?
michael should have a movie or something.. he is sickkk:)
lol. crocker has the best start out of everyone. look at the slow motion of the start in 4:53. he beasted on them on the start. but he lost ground on the rest of the race.
the race starts at 3:20
Butterfly!!!Best styl
just love him.
GROSOOO geniooo
The Race starts at 3:22...
Mejor del mundo
Cavic is 1 st!!!
per far scattare il cronometro serve schiacciare con 1 certa pressione e cavic l'ha messa dopo phelps, michael ha ragione.
oh, thank you!
CAVIC VITORIC ESSE E O CAMPEÃO.
thank you
your my idol
Race isn't over until the timer is stopped. He didn't hit the plate hard enough.
"I've won one by 1/100th of a second myself but..." Classic commentary.
OMG, God just wanted him to win 8 gold medals.
THE PERFECT MAAAAN!
They don't decide who wins by looking with their eyes, there is a sensor on the wall, and who ever touches it first wins. Stop thinking stupidly.
un genio
@kareem87said5
dont cry u can say what u want phelps is the best swimmer of the world and in history...
OMG!! Michael is the kinG! =) ^^
LOL, 2:29. Takes T_T to a whole new level.
You meant at summer Olympics; right? Because the world record in 50m fly is held by Mark Foster. Ofcourse there is no 50m fly in summer olympics.
that was a reply to some guy that said that cavic totally and obviously won. not directed towards anybody else sorry
I only want to say that you can't just compare times and say that he would have won. Crocker holds the world record, but he didn't win in beijing.
hahaha y dicen que no es el mejor, ahora ya tiene 27 años y solo a ganado 3 medallas en Londres, pero definitivamente el mejor nadador olímpico de todos los tiempos, es un bicho este tipo...
probably. he is just too good:D
Race start at 3:20 ;)
guys, when will be their next race?
start at 3:24
Michael Phelps is my adulation!
