    Doesn't matter the sport, doesn't matter the circumstance but this is without doubt the greatest race of all time, bravo Michael simply sensational.

    Cavic touched the pressure plate first, but not hard enough for it to register. He glided in, Michael powered in. That was the difference.

    Cavic is a machine but Michael was better today. Their rivalry is awesome for the sport. It's gonna be interesting next year when they face each other without NO HIGH TECH SUITS. Michael rules.

    I agree with you... Because Cavic is underwater you can't see him touch as fast when phelps swings his arms over right into the wall almost the same time but quicker!!!

    Let me teach you about some other things you do not know about:
    If you did not know Omega produces one of the most well-known and recognized watches in the world.Omega has been the official timekeeping device of the Olympic Games since 1932.And Omega is located in Bienne,Switzerland.And that guy with the "dumb" accent is Swiss.
    But I guess now that we determined that Swiss have dumb English accents,that disqualifies his from the further discussion right? :))
    I just love your comments.Cheers mate

    okay first problem with the video the pictures were upside down and Cavics hands were NOT on the wall so this it was not the actual snapshot of the finish until both players are on the wall.2nd the guy in the video was the general manager. he had nothing to do with inventing or making the touch pad all he does is keep things in line from what ive researched and last of all Cavic is wearing a fullbody suit( is now illegal) witch takes off a full second of your time phelps wasnt so he still won.

    no this video was uploaded by a youtube user. it was recorded by the official Olympic recording staff, this was also the same footage of when it actually happened lol i still have it on my DVR lol it was recorded in real time durpuhdurp and uover all micheal phelps still has that medal and the Olympics hasnt taken it away from him because he won but im not joking this time lets just end the argument at that cause because arguing over youtube is just annoying bye.

    oh ya mate..anytime.. oh in the 50.. Cavic SMOKES phelps..LOL and you can even see in this race here how Cav's first 50 was blazing!!!! I just can't imagine what was going thru Phelps mind at the 75 mark when he turned on his burners to come in.. that kid was digging deep! LOLOL cheers bro

  • @gleekstogether
    @gleekstogether 12 лет назад

    In an interview with Anderson Cooper he was asked how he did it and when he looked at the freeze frame shot he said that because Cavic lifted his head up before he touched the wall he slowed himself down acting as a buffer to himself meaning phelps (who kept his head down) got that golden opportunity of a tiny portion of a second to pull into first because he was streamline...so if Cavic hadn't have lifted his head Michael Phelps would not have won that medal.

    matter of opinion.. i like to go based on what my eyes see in this video here.. yes he is an amazing swimmer, but as they say.. "on the day the best man wins." :) and on THIS day here, in this video, Phelps wins..and he walked away with history wrapped around his neck, which equals "best" to me :) can't top that. :) again..cavic.. badass swimmer.. not taking away from him

  • @aerosmithmotleycrue
    @aerosmithmotleycrue 15 лет назад

    very nice. there was a kid on here ( not this vid but on youtube) that tried to tell me that Cavic didnt hit the pad hard enough, but it stopped the clock didnt it? if he didnt hit it hard enough, he would have had to hit the pad again. then there could be a legit dispute

  • @kevn101
    @kevn101 12 лет назад

    not going to lie that race was REALLLYYY close like probably by 0.000001 seconds phelps won.. i would consider that a tie to be honest but phelps is a great athlete and definitely deserves a lot of praise i am swimmer myself so i know hard it is to even come close to phelps

    Michael Phelps you are absolutely invencible!!!!

  • @bailsdee1317
    @bailsdee1317 12 лет назад

    but you see if you hit the touch pad harder, with more speed, your time will go in quicker than if you glide in, like cavic did. he might have touched first but maybe he just touched slightly, then a millisecond later, he REALLY touched hard, and only then his time goes through, when phelps has already gone through beacause of his hard finish :)

    with results that close, seems like if one sensor is not precisely (I mean to the micrometer) flush with the next one, it could affect the results of the race.

    Everyone knew Phelps has to win that race, one way or another, he need it, for his 8 gold and beating the Mark Spitz record of 7 gold medals on one Olympic games.
    Omega watches - which is official touchpad producer and time measurer for the Olympics is also a Phelps sponsor, which is illegal, but hey nobody cares.
    In the end maybe the Omega should rename it's touchpads into the "pushpads" as we see it is not enough to just touch it and get there first.

  • @pablogrijalva1581
    @pablogrijalva1581 13 лет назад

    @graviteownage Sorry pal, but the pads have a sensor to determine first touch. Cavic saw he was ahead a made the mistake of thinking it was all over. Same thing happened to Biondi in Seoul when Anthony Nesty defeated him. Biondi just reached at the end same as Cavic while Nesty took and aditional stroke

  • @nedostizni2
    @nedostizni2 12 лет назад

    We are not arguing if he is better swimmer or not. Of course he is.
    Read my first topic once again.
    We are arguing whether he won or not.
    The video you are talking about has not official marks on it what so ever. It was uploaded by some regular youtube user, it is not a video from the official Olympic games timekeeping website. So it can be edited and altered any time, with no consequences.
    But the video I showed you is from the OFFICIAL OLYMPIC GAMES TIMEKEEPING DEVICE COMPANY.
